Just want to wish all of our great customers a verry Happy New Year...hopefully filled with lots of fish!
HOLIDAY SHOP HOURS: NEW YEARS EVE: 6AM-3PM NEW YEARS DAY: 6AM-3PM OFFSHORE: SO...not the greatest weekend for a trip out the inlet based on the forecast. This passing cold front will most likely trigger the best sailfish bite of the season so far, but it's not going to be one for the faint of heart. Dolphin fishing has been good this week, with some decent fish coming from the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet. Best depth on the dolphin has been 180-300' of water, and small ballyhoo and bonita strips are the bait of choice. Scattered kingfish in along the 120' ledge along with a few cobia. Snapper fishing remains very good for this time of year...though it's not going to be fun to try and drift for them this weekend. INSHORE: Been some interesting fishing inshore this week in the Jupiter Area. Some reports of pompano coming in, scattered redfish, and even a few flounder. Snook fishing remains fair, but the cold front coming through will most likely make that a little bit tougher. A few sheepshead around the boat docks and bridge pilings. The flats around Munyon Island and Hobe Sound are continuing to produce mixed bag action, and that could improve with the coming cold front. SURF/PIER: Good mixed bag action on the beach right now; with a few pompano early in the week, good spanish mackerel fishing, a few bluefish, and good numbers of croakers. Hard to say exactly what the front will do to the surf fishing, but it could help push a fair number of pompano in. Shark fishing has started to improve. Should start to see some very good fishing over the next few weeks. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...NORTH WINDS 20 TO 25 KNOTS. SEAS 5 TO 7 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 9 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 9 TO 11 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 14 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. DOMINANT PERIOD 8 SECONDS. EAST NORTHEAST SWELL 3 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SATURDAY...EAST SOUTHEAST WINDS AROUND 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 5 TO 7 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 9 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SUNDAY...EAST SOUTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. Thanks For Reading, Todd Hope everyone has a very safe and MERRY CHRISTMAS this weekend!
SHOP UPDATES/ HOLIDAY HOURS: Christmas Eve: 6AM-2PM Christmas Day: CLOSED New Years Eve: 6AM-3PM New Years Day: 6AM-3PM OFFSHORE: Sailfish were around in fair numbers this week. Reports up the coast say a big number of sailfish are hanging up off of Fort Pierce Inlet. Only a good cold front or two away from seeing a nice number of fish. Not going to be ideal boating conditions this weekend, but those pushing through it should expect to see some sailfish. Very scattered dolphin reports this week. Look for 150-300' to be the prime depth for both the dolphin and the sailfish right now. LIve baits under the kite will be the go to approach, but trolling small naked ballyhoo will also do the job on the sails and dolphin. Scattered kingfish are spread out from 60-100' of water, and the snapper are biting underneath them. Bottom fishing remains very productive for this time of year, with some good snapper reports coming in. INSHORE: Catch and release snook fishing is still pretty good. The docklights are starting to produce good numbers of small snook, and an occasional tarpon. Small flashy white jigs and live shrimp are good bait choices. The flats around Munyon Island and Hobe Sound continue to come alive with a variety of species. Early morning will be best for the snook, trout, and occasional redfish; while higher light is fine for catching jacks and ladyfish. Starting to hear some reports of pompano inshore as well. SURF/PIER: A little slower week on the beach, but still a fair number of fish around. Bluefish action remains pretty solid off Hobe South. Pompano reports continue to come in, but for the most part not in big numbers. Sandfleas and clam remain the bait of choice for the pompano. Just be prepared to reel them in quick as the sharks are not far behind! Spanish mackerel action remains fair up and down the beach, and good numbers of macs are filling into Peck's Lake as well. Plenty of sharks along the beach. Fair numbers of jacks around Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlet. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...EAST NORTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 4 TO 6 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 8 FEET. DOMINANT PERIOD 5 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SATURDAY...EAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 4 TO 6 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 8 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY...EAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 4 TO 6 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 8 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: The fishing was pretty good this week offshore; though the NOAA Forecast for the weekend is not super promising! Sailfish action remains good, with most boats seeing at least a few shots. Look for the best sailfish action to be in 120-200' of water from Palm Beach to Jupiter Inlet. Live goggle eyes under the kite is a safe bet, but trolling small naked ballyhoo will also work for the sails. Good dolphin fishing this week in 200-300' of water; with bonita strips, small ballyhoo, and squid all being good bait choices. Been some nice blackfin tuna, bonita, and skipjack tuna in the same range as the dolphin. The same trolling baits or a small trolling feather will work for the tuna. The full moon also produced a few wahoo bites this week. Inside the 120' ledge bottom fishing remains pretty good. Scattered snapper on the bottom, and some scattered kingfish above them from 65-120' of water.
INSHORE: Snook season is closed, but catch and release fishing remains pretty good. Look for the snook to be around the bridges at night, especially those with deeper water acess close by. Moving water is essential, and outgoing tide tends to produce the most bites. The flats around Munyon Island and Hobe Sound are starting to come alive with a variety of species. Jacks, ladyfish, spotted seatrout, snook, pompano, and the occasional redfish are starting to fill in; and as the water cools a little more we should see even more action. SURF/PIER: Some of the best surf and pier action of the season went down early this week; and hopefully a little wind this weekend fires everything up again. Lots of bluefish, jacks, spanish mackerel, and even a few kingfish around. Rapala X-Raps and spoons are great lure choices right now. Pompano fishing remains fair, with a decent bite early and late in the day. Sandfleas,, clams, and fishbites remain the baits of choice for the pompano. Lots of fish on the beach right now...go if you can! NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...EAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 3 TO 5 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 6 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. DOMINANT PERIOD 6 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SATURDAY...WINDS SOUTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 4 TO 6 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 8 FEET. DOMINANT PERIOD 6 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SUNDAY...WINDS SOUTH SOUTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 6 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Sailfish action was strong this week, and conditions look right for a strong bite this weekend. The "Operation Sailfish" Tournament kicks off on Friday with the best sailfish teams in South Florida fishing out of Sailfish Marina. If the sailfish are anywhere close by...these guys will find em! Look for the sails to be in 120-200' of water with some nice dolphin mixed in. Livebaits under the kite will work, as will trolling small naked ballyhoo. Snapper fishing has been good, with nice mutton and yellowtail reports coming in.
INSHORE- Snook season is winding down, better get after them now! Look for the bridges to produce at night on the outgoing tide. Flair Hawk Jigs and large swimbaits remain great lure choices for the snook, while a live shrimp is also hard to beat. Been a few redfish around inshore; not a huge number of them, but it's nice to hear of a few around. Seatrout reports were trickling in, but seem to have really slowed down. SURF/PIER- The Juno Beach Pier has been catching a few kingfish this week. A trolley rigged sardine or X-Rap seems to be working on the kings. Spanish Mackerel are scattered along the beach, and also starting to fill into Peck's Lake in fair numbers. Pompano action was a bit slow this week, with reports to the north being better for the pompano. Bluefish action has finally started to improve, with soem good catches coming out of Hobe Sound. NOAA MARINE WEATHER- FRIDAY...NORTH NORTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 4 TO 6 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 8 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS ROUGH IN EXPOSED AREAS. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Sailfish bite was good this week, and conditions look right for it to continue through the weekend. Most boats have been getting at least a few shots with some seeing double digit chances. Live baits under the kite will be the best bet, with 100-200' of water being a pretty good depth to put them up. Mixed in with the sailfish have been a decent number of dolphin. The dolphin have been eing caught on both live baits and trolling. Small naked ballyhoo and bonita strips are both good choices for the dolphin on the troll right now, and will also do the job of raising some sailfish as well. Not much to report on the kingfish right now, but bottom fishing inside of the 120' ledge remains good for this time of year. A few cobia showing up as well.
INSHORE- Snook season is winding down, but the snook are still around and biting well. The bridges are producing a fair amaount of bites at night, while the grassflats are producing some snook during the day. Lowlight periods and moving water will be key for getting the most bites out of the snook. Spotted seatrout are scattered around the Hobe SOund and Munyon Island grassflats as well. Some good action onjacks in the Lake Worth Lagoon and ICW. SURF/PIER- Slower action on the pompano this week, but still some around. Early morning and late afternoon bite are producing best, with sandfleas and clams remaining the bait of choice. Should hopefully see another push of fish in the near future with passing of next couple cold fronts. Scattered SPanish MAckerel and bluefish along the beach. Look for both species to be most active early and late in the day. A silver spoon, diamond jig, or gotcha lure are all great choices for the beach right now. NOAA MARINE WEATHER- FRIDAY...NORTH WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET. DOMINANT PERIOD 9 SECONDS BECOMING 3 SECONDS IN THE AFTERNOON. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SATURDAY...NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 3 TO 5 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 6 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP.
