Weekend Fishing Outlook (1/15-1/17/2021)

1/14/2021

OFFSHORE-  Quite a range of weather offshore this week, and the fishing varied pretty widely as well with the weather.  When the wind has had some north in it the sailfish have been biting fairly well.  Live goggle eyes under the kite in 150-250' of water from the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet is a pretty good bet to get a chance at the sailfish.  Decent number of dolphin mixed in with the sails over the past week as well.  Kingfish remain scattered along the 120' ledge in pretty good numbers.  When conditions lined up right this week the bottom fishing has been very good.  A handful of cobia have been caught in 90-100' of water, with threadfins and sardines being top bait choices.  Snapper fishing has also been very good this week.  A good number of mutton snapper and yellowtail snappers biting well!

INSHORE-  This week saw fairly good action  on the inshore side of things.  Sheepshead have been around in good numbers, along with a few black drum.  Live shrimp will be a solid bait choice for both of them.  Try fishing the shrimp on a small troll rite style jighead for best luck.  A handful of trout moving around the Munyon Island flats this week.  Catch and release snook fishing remains pretty good.  A few reports of some Pompano pushing around inshore, along with a few bluefish.

SURF/PIER-  Some decent surf fishing this week.  Spanish Mackerel action remains pretty solid up and down the beach.  Bluefish action improved north of Jupiter Inlet this week.  Silver spoons, GT Ice Creams, and cut bait all being good choices for the blues.  Pompano action was a bit hit or miss this week.  A few decent catches, but it sounds like the best pompano action remains up to the north.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...Along the coast, west northwest winds around 5 knots becoming southwest in the afternoon. In the Gulf Stream, west northwest winds 5 to 10 knots becoming southwest 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Seas around 2 feet. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers.

SATURDAY...West northwest winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots along the coast to west northwest 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas around 2 feet along the coast and 2 to 4 feet with occasional to 5 feet in the Gulf Stream. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop.

SUNDAY...West northwest winds 5 to 10 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

Weekend Fishing Outlook (1/8-1/10/2021)

1/7/2021

OFFSHORE-  Sailfish are attracting the most attention offshore these days, and the conditions look like they could bite pretty good this weekend. The past week has had a fair to good sailfish bite with a few boats getting five plus chances.  Live goggle eyes and blue runners under the kite are the best bet for the sails, and will also get the attention of any big passing dolphin or wahoo as well.  Best depth for the sailfish has bounced around between 150-225' for the most part, depending on water conditions.  Haven't got a lock on the best area as of late, but the Juno Beach Pier to just north of Jupiter Inlet is always a safe area to start.  Fair number of kings along the edge, along with a stray wahoo and cobia as well.  Nice little scattering of dolphin over the past week.  Bottom fishing was fair this week.  Heard a handful of good mutton reports, along with good numbers of yellowtail snapper.

INSHORE-  Catch and release snook fishing has been fair this week, though passing cold front this weekend will probably slow it down.  The shrimp jig has been the ticket around the bridges as of late.  Live mullet along seawalls during the day is the best bet for the snook.  Sheepshead and Black Drum have been biting well in the ICW.  The cold front this weekend could help get a few more pompano moving around inshore.

SURF/PIER-  Bit of a tough week again surf fishing wise.  A few more pompano around this week, especially north of Jupiter Inlet.  Bluefish action was also a little bit better this week.  Spanish Mackerel have been scattered along the beach in fair numbers.  Definitely a increase in the number of sharks around as well this week.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...West winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots along the coast to west 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Period 4 seconds. North northeast swell 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Chance of showers through the day.

SATURDAY...Northwest winds 10 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Period 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop.

SUNDAY...North winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

Christmas  Weekend Fishing Outlook (12/25-12/27/2020)

12/24/2020

First...Thanks everybody for all the support this crazy year.  Second...Want to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas!

OFFSHORE:  Looks like the sailfish should bite really good this weekend.  Looking a little rough, but the sails should be snapping.  Ideal depth will most likely be in the 120-200' range depending on water conditions.  Look for rips, color changes, or a lot of flying fish getting up as a good starting point.  Live goggle eyes or blue runners under the kite will be the baits of choice for the sailfish.  Look for some good dolphin and maybe a wahoo or two to be in the mix as well.  Kingfish bite has been good along the 120' ledge as well.  A handful of cobia are hanging in 90-120' of water as well.

INSHORE:  Sheepshead and Black drum action has been good inshore this week.   Live shrimp, or fiddler crabs if you can find them, are the bait of choice for them.  Look for them to be around bridges, or boat docks with good barnacle growth.  Snook fishing has been good over the past week in the river; but it may slow this weekend with the cold front.  This front could really help fire up the inshore pompano bite, and maybe move some tripletail in as well.

SURF/PIER:  Good number of Spanish Mackerel around this week.  They have been scattered along the beach, and also hanging around the Juno Beach Pier.  Along the beach the "bobber rig" with a Clark Spoon is the best choice for the macs.  At the Pier a white crappie jig is the best bet for the macs.  Scattering of bluefish around still, but big numbers of them remain to be seen.  A few more pompano around this week, and with this better front we should see some more fish push down this way.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...Northwest winds 15 to 25 knots with gusts to around 35 knots. Seas 6 to 8 feet with occasional seas to 10 feet. Period 6 seconds.

SATURDAY...North winds around 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet.

SUNDAY...Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet.

Weekend Fishing Outlook (12/18-12/20/2020)

12/18/2020

OFFSHORE-  Sailfish bite has been good the past few days, with many boats getting five or more chances.  Live goggle eyes or blue runners under the kite remain the best bet for the sails.  Best depth remains 120-150' for the most part, but main bounce in or out depending on water conditions and what's around bait wise.   Fair number of dolphin around, along with a good number of kings.  Wahoo are still scattered along the edge as well.  Snapper fishing was fair this week.

INSHORE-  Catch and release snook fishing has been good this week, especially in the river.  Live mullet along the seawalls has been the ticket for the bigger snook, as well as bruiser jacks.  Look for seawalls that have darker mud bottoms to be the most productive.  Sheepshead and black drum have shown up inshore in pretty good numbers.  LIve shrimp is always a good bait choice for them.

SURF/PIER-  Good Spanish Mackerel action this week along the beach and at the Pier.  Crappie jigs, diamond jigs, and small swimming plugs have all been doing the trick as of late on the macs.  Some scattered bluefish around, but no big numbers to speak of.  Slim pickings for the most part on the pompano this week.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
SATURDAY...East winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. .SATURDAY NIGHT...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to east southeast 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. .SUNDAY...South winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to south around 10 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

Weekend Fishing Outlook (12/11-12/13/2020)

12/10/2020

OFFSHORE:  Looks like a pretty good weekend for a trip offshore.  Sailfish will dominate most of the action (largely due to more people fishing for them!) offshore.  Pretty solid action on the sails over the past few weeks both to the north and south, so flip a coin on the best spot to find them!  Live goggle eyes and runners under a kite are going to be a safe bet for the sailfish.  Dolphin, including some good size ones, are mixed in with the sailfish.  Up to the north the bigger Blackfin Tuna are also mixed in with the Sails.  Kingfish action has been very good along the 120' ledge.  Bottom fishing has been mixed this week.  Still a pretty fair number of red grouper being caught, along with some snapper.  A few scattered cobia in the mix as well.  Sardines will be the best bait for the bottom.

INSHORE:  Inshore fishing was pretty good this week.  Wintertime sheepshead and black drum are filling in the ICW in pretty good numbers, and are biting fresh shrimp good.  Live crabs, if you can catch them, are always going to be really good for the sheepshead as well.  Sandperch are biting well in the ICW this week on shrimp as well.  Last weekend of snook season, and with warming temps outside (And hopefully a little bump up in water temps) should be a decent weekend to try and find them.  During the day look for the snook to be over dark shallow mud flat bottoms soaking up the sun.  At night the snook will be around the bridges looking for a shrimp dinner.  Shrimp jigs or live shrimp will be the best choice for the snook right now.  Present the baits up current and let the current carry the shrimp naturally right to the snook.  When the water is cold they aren't going to move fast or far, so keep it slow.

SURF/PIER:  The change in weather this week helped kick off a really good Spanish Mackerel bite.  The Macs have bounced around location wise, with fish being caught from Peck's Lake to south of the Juno Beach Pier.   If your fishing for them from the boat a block of chum and some glass minnows, along with assortment of clack spoons and jigs should do the trick.  From the beach a diamond style jig or casting bobber w/ a Clark Spoon is a solid choice.  From the Pier it's hard to beat a white crappie jig, just keep the tackle light with it for best results.  A lot of people going pompano fishing over the past week, not so many going pompano catching.  Scattered reports on the pompano, but overall it still remains pretty hit or miss on them.  Sandfleas, fresh cut shrimp, clams, and FishBItes will give you the best chance at the pompano.  Bluefish action has been pretty good at Hobe Sound Beach.  Whiting/Croakers are also biting pretty good in the first trough on pieces of shrimp.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 8 seconds becoming 3 seconds in the afternoon. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

SATURDAY...East southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. .SATURDAY NIGHT...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

SUNDAY...South southeast winds around 5 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters smooth.

Weekend Fishing Outlook (12/4-12/6/2020)

12/3/2020

OFFSHORE-  Looks like another semi-promising weekend offshore coming up.  Sailfish bite has been good up to the north for the trollers, and good down south for the livebait guys.  Best depth has varied by location, and water quality, but 120-225' has remained pretty solid.  Fair number of dolphin, including some good size ones, mixed in with the sails.  KIngfish are also in with them as well.  The wahoo bite has slowed as the week has gone on; but still a few around for sure.  Snapper fishing has been fair this week.  A few cobia in the mix as well.

INSHORE-  Snook season is winding down...get after them now!  The shrimp jig bite is on fire right now around the bridges.  Come by and see us at the shop and we can get you set up with the right shrimp jigs.  Flair hawks are also a good choice around the bridges.  Live shrimp will also work good for the snook.  Other inshore action has improved with cooling water temps as well.  The flats in Hobe Sound and Munyan Island are starting to come to life with a mix bag of species.

SURF/PIER-  Spanish Mackerel showed up in good numbers this week, along with a nice little push of bluefish.  Pompano action remains a bit slow, but a few reports of some keepers coming in.  Blacktip sharks are on the beach in pretty solid numbers as well.  Water got a little dirty at the time of report writing; but as it cleans up fishing should improve.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop.

SATURDAY...West winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers.

SUNDAY...Northeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

Weekend Fishing Outlook (11/27-11/29/2020)

11/26/2020

OFFSHORE-  Rough weather has kept reports to a minimum, but conditions look really good for the next few days!  Sailfish numbers are beginning to increase, and will be the main predators hanging out in 120-200' of water these days.  Dolphin fishing has been pretty good in 200' of water out of Palm Beach Inlet.  Scattered kingfish along the edge, along with a stray wahoo or two.  Snapper reports were slow with less than ideal water conditions along the reef, but hopefully that changes too with some nicer weather  this weekend.

INSHORE-  Still a little time to invite a snook home for dinner before the season closes.  The shrimp jig bite at the bridges has really started to fire up over the past week.  Look for outgoing tide to be the most productive.  Other wintertime species (Sheepshead and Black Drum primarily) are beginning to show up inshore in fair numbers.  Hard to beat live shrimp for them.

SURF/PIER- Conditions look right for the surf fishing to go off this weekend.  Reports over the past week have been slow due to dirty water and rough conditions.  The small window of nicer conditions earlier in the week (Largely a few hours of cleaner water) saw a decent little pompano bite, along with a fair number of Spanish Mackerel.  Expect a good number of bluefish, Spanish Macs, and Pompano to be around.  The blacktip sharks should also be in the mix.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...East northeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

FRIDAY NIGHT...East winds 10 knots along the coast to east northeast 5 to 10 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas around 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

SATURDAY...East northeast winds around 5 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters smooth.

SATURDAY NIGHT...East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

SUNDAY...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers in the afternoon.

SHOP UPDATE:  Some good Black Friday deals and also a Small Business Saturday Special...swing by and check them out!

Weekend Fishing Outlook (11/20-11/22-2020)

11/19/2020

Offshore-  No reports offshore to speak of this week.  A handful of dolphin around, along with some sailfish for the few that did make it out this week.  Those willing to tough it out this weekend could find a decent little sailfish bite going on.  Water quality will be key...find some good water and and the sails won't be far behind.

Inshore-  Snook fishing remains very good inshore these days.  During the day the snook are keyed in on mullet along seawalls and around boat docks.  At night the snook are biting well around the bridges.  The shrimp jig and flair hawk have both been producing solid results.  With the water being on the dirty side both incoming and outgoing tide are producing good snook bites.  Starting to see some more winter species showing up inshore.  Sheepshead, black drum, and other assorted stuff are starting to fill in.  Live shrimp will be the bait of choice.

Surf/Pier-  Tough surf/pier fishing this week.  Water has been on the dirty side and the surf has been up...tough combo.  A few scattered bluefish around for those toughing it out.  No pompano reports to speak of, but hopefully a little north wind will help improve that.  Just not a lot to write about this week...hoping for a change soon!

NOAA MARINE WEATHER-
FRIDAY...East northeast winds around 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots. Seas 6 to 8 feet with occasional seas to 10 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Slight chance of showers.

SATURDAY...East northeast winds around 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots. Seas 5 to 7 feet with occasional seas to 9 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Slight chance of showers in the morning, then chance of showers in the afternoon.

SUNDAY...Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Slight chance of showers.

Weekly Fishing Outlook (11/13-11/15/2020)

11/12/2020

OFFSHORE-  Well...it finally looks like a little more fishable weather this weekend.  Reports have been almost non-existent over the past week, which I'm sure comes to the surprise of well...no one!  Weather has not been on our side, but fingers crossed it's not looking too bad now.  Sailfish bite continues to pick up, and we should see the numbers continue to rise from here on out.  Little on the lighter side wind wise this weekend, but should still be enough to get the kites up.  As usual live goggle eyes and blue runners will be top baits.  Threadfin and mullet are also good bait options.  Dolphin, the better size winter ones, will also be mixed in with the sails in 150-250' of water.  With no reports to speak of, it's hard to guess where the main body of fish will be; but the pier to Jupiter Inlet or up towards the Loran Tower in Hobe Sound are good options.  Should be some kingfish scattered along the 120' ledge, along with a wahoo or two maybe.  Bottom fishing could be really good.  Following a storm like this the snapper and grouper will sometimes chew heavy, here's hoping it happens this weekend!

INSHORE-  Snook fishing remains the best bet, and with season starting to wind down (only about a month left) now is a great time to go.  The spillways have been holding a good number of fish, as have some of the bridges.  The flair hawk bite remains strong, and the shrimp jig bite is gaining steam as well.  Look for the snook to bite best on the first part of the outgoing tide.  Sheepshead and black drum reports are staring to come in a little bit; sure sign we are changing seasons.  Live shrimp on a small jighead is a good way to go.  Look for docks with a little deeper water around them to be the best bet.  Flats action is slowly starting to come to life with some dropping water temps.  A few trout and even a redfish or two are around up on the Hobe Sound Flats.

SURF/PIER-  Finally some little nicer conditions for the surf this weekend.  The big news this week was a nice bite of snapper at the Juno Beach Pier (thanks to late season storm).  Doubtful that the snapper bite is on fire into the weekend at the pier, but should still be a few around.  Sardines and live shrimp have been the bait of choice for the snapper.  Bluefish are around in pretty good numbers.  Large popping plugs, GT Ice Cream lures, and silver spoons have all been good lure choices on the bluefish.  Pompano reports are a bit slim, but would expect to see some around.  The blacktip sharks are around in pretty good numbers as well.  The blacktips are a lot of fun from the beach, especially on lighter tackle.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...West winds 10 knots becoming north. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers.

SATURDAY...East southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers.

SUNDAY...East southeast winds around 10 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

Weekend Fishing Outlook (11/6-11/8/2020)

11/5/2020

OFFSHORE-  No real reports from the weekend due to poor weather and wind; and not looking like much of a weekend for a trip offshore.  The few people that have managed to sneak out are finding a fair number of sailfish around.  The sailfish have been in the usual 150-250' of water, with the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet being a great stretch to start the search for the sailfish.  Goggle eyes or blue runners under the kite are a sure fire bet for the sailfish.  It's getting into the time of year where the bigger dolphin should start to mix in with the sailfish.  Kingfish remain scattered along the 120' ledge, with a wahoo or two in the mix as well.

INSHORE-  Snook fishing has been pretty good this week inshore.  The last of the mullet are rolling through, and the snook have been taking advantage of the end of season buffet.  Look for the spillways to be open this weekend, and the snook should be around.  Flairhawks and SpoolTek swimbaits will be a great choice at the spillways.  Some of the snook have also started to switch to the winter time pattern...in other words get your shrimp jigs ready for the bridge.   Lots of nice fresh poured shrimp jigs in-stock at the moment; get them while the pickings are good.  Other inshore fishing has began to pick up.  Slight drops in air/water temps have the fish moving around better on the flats.  Won't be long before the sheepshead and black drum will be showing up in pretty good numbers inshore.

SURF/PIER-   Looks like a blowout this weekend on the surf/pier side of things this weekend.  The water had been holding out and looking pretty good this week, but over the last few days has went muddy and pretty much shut down everything.  Bluefish action has been pretty good overall, although that shut down over the past few days.  Needs to calm back down a little before we see any real change in the surf fishing.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...East northeast winds 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Light showers likely and slight chance of thunderstorms. .

SATURDAY...East winds around 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Showers and chance of thunderstorms.

SUNDAY...East winds 20 to 30 knots with gusts to around 40 knots. Seas 7 to 9 feet with occasional seas to 11 feet. Intracoastal waters very rough in exposed areas. Showers and chance of thunderstorms.
