OFFSHORE- Tough fishing offshore this week, with very few reports. The general hope is that the cold front passing through Thursday gets the sailfish fired up. Conditions are looking ideal for Friday and pretty good for Saturday as well....time will tell if they want to bite! Bluewater Movements "Operation Sailfish" Tournament, out of Sailfish Marina, is Friday and Saturday and could possible produce some good numbers. A few blackfin tuna reports in 250-300' of water this week. Bottom fishing reports seemed slow this week.
INSHORE- Relatively tough fishing inshore this week. Sounds like a few snook were biting ahead of the cold front. Sheepshead action seemed to improve a bit, along with a few black drum. Still getting a few pompano reports from Sailfish Flats in Stuart. SURF/PIER- Not much to speak of on the beach this week. The croaker and whiting have been providing the best action, especially at the Juno Beach Pier. Live shrimp remain the top bait choice for the croaker and whiting. No pompano reports to speak of. A stray bluefish or two is possible. A lot of hope that the cold front helps push some fish this way. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...N winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt, becoming E in the afternoon. Seas 5 to 8 ft, occasionally to 10 ft. Wave Detail: N 8 ft at 9 seconds and NW 7 ft at 9 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SAT...E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Wave Detail: E 4 ft at 6 seconds and N 3 ft at 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SUN...SW winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming W 20 to 25 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Wave Detail: W 4 ft at 5 seconds and E 1 foot at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A chance of showers in the morning. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- The weather is perfect, the ocean has been nearly flat calm, the water looks gorgeous, and the fish are...well the fish aren't biting so hot this week. Super nice conditions have the fishing on the tougher side this week (When it blows too hard we complain! When it gets super nice out...we complain. Can't win for losing sometimes). The West Palm Beach Fishing Club's "Silver Sailfish Derby" kicked off today with 50 excellent teams trying to release the most sailfish over two days. At the end of the day the fleet tallied 57 releases, or just over about fish per boat average. That's been the pretty standard sailfish result the past week (5 Boats go...two boats don't see one, two boats catch one each, and the last guy gets lucky and catches three). No hot spot on the sailfish, just a slow steady pick. A cold front early next week should shake things up a little bit. No dolphin reports to speak of this week. The kingfish, including a handful of good size fish, showed up along the 120' ledge this week from just south of the Pier to almost Jupiter Inlet. Bottom fishing remains pretty decent. A fair mixture of snapper aroun, along with the usual assorted bottom species. Sardines and squid have been the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Not much to write about on the inshore side of things. Snook fishing remains tough overall. A handful of sheepshead being caught; with live shrimp a top bait choice for them. A few scattered jacks in Palm Beach Inlet. It sounds like the pompano are still biting decent on the Sailfish Flats in Stuart. A small bright colored Doc's Goofy Jig is the way to go for them. Hopefully the cold front coming through early next week will shake things up a bit. SURF/PIER- A few pompano showed up this week along the beach. It hasn't been big numbers (and it could just be all of the people going to take advantage of the nice weather!), but a few pompano reports are coming in. Best action has been first light, and most of the fish seem to be up to the north (at least Hobe Sound). Sandfleas and FishBites are the bait of choice for the pompano. The Juno Beach Pier has been on the slower side this week, with croakers and whiting being the main game in town. A small number of Spanish Mackerel have started to show up at Peck's Lake. Still not the mass of fish that should be around, but at least it's a start. The bluefish have been scattered along the beach up towards Hobe Sound as well. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...SE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft at 4 seconds and SW 1 foot at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SAT...SE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SUN...S winds around 5 kt, becoming NW in the afternoon. Seas less than 2 ft or less. Wave Detail: E 1 foot at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Reports have been a bit slow this week offshore. Despite the decent cold front, sailfish action never really went off. The general consensus was most boats putting the kites up saw a fish or two, with only a few boats getting more than 4 or 5 chances. A scattering of dolphin in 250-400' of water, but no big numbers. The wahoo have shown up a little better around the moon. Most of the wahoo bites have been coming on live baits intended for sailfish (Which are often short lived on fluorocarbon leader). A few wahoo bites on the planer for those really putting the time in. The wahoo bite has been better down south. Bottom fishing remains fair in 90-100' of water. Been a fairly good mix of snapper, grunts, and porgies around. Sardines and squid remain the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Inshore action remains a bit tough. Catch and release snow fishing has been on the slower side with the cooler weather. Sheepshead action has improved inshore, with a few black drum mixed in as well. Live shrimp is a top bait choice for the sheepshead and drum. The Hobe Sound flats have started to hold a little more life with the cooler weather. A mixture of croaker, ladyfish, sheepshead, and other species have been willing to bite shrimp on a light jighead. The jacks have been roaming Lake Worth Inlet in some decent size schools. SURF/PIER- Fishing remains a bit tough along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier this week. A very small scattering of pompano around, but no big numbers to speak of. The Spanish Mackerel bite slowed as well this week. A few scattered bluefish around, with the best luck on them coming on chunks of mullet or sardines. Croaker and whiting continue to bite very well in the first trough. Small pieces of shrimp are the way to go for the croaker and whiting. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...NW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming W this afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 3 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SAT...SW winds around 5 kt, increasing to 5 to 10 kt in the afternoon. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SUN...W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: W 2 ft at 3 seconds and N 1 foot at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. OFFSHORE- A bit slow offshore this week on the reports, though conditions do look pretty good headed into the weekend. Sailfish bite has been fair, with a steady pick on them in 150-225' of water. Live goggle eyes under the kite remains the best way to go for the sailfish. Still a fair number of dolphin around, with 200-400' of water being the best depth range. Trolling squid and bonita strips has been a solid way to go for the dolphin. Sounds like the blackfin tuna are biting good again out of St. Luice Inlet. Bottom fishing remains good, with a nice mixed bag of snapper coming up. Sardines and squid remain the bait of choice on the bottom. INSHORE- Reports were mixed inshore this week, with the overall consensus being relatively tough fishing. The sheepshead, and occasional black drum, did bite a little better this week. Live shrimp remains the top bait choice for them. The jacks have been cruising Palm Beach Inlet in fair numbers. Catch and release snook fishing slowed down a bit, but still a few around for those putting the time in. Pompano reports continue to come in from the flats in Stuart. A 3/8 bright colored Doc's Goofy Jig is a great way to go for the pomps. SURF/PIER- The Spanish Mackerel have been around in good numbers this week, including some really good size fish. The Juno Beach Pier has been producing a good number of Macs on crappie jigs, small x-raps, and sardines on a trolley rig. Bluefish action slowed don, but still a handful around. A chunk of mullet or sardine remains a good way to go for the bluefish. No pompano reports to speak of this week. Hoping a little North wind gets a few more fish headed in our direction. Croaker and whiting continue to bite pretty good in the first trough. Pieces of fresh shrimp is the best way to go for them. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: THU...N winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. FRI...N winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at 5 seconds and NE 2 ft at 10 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SAT THROUGH SUN...W winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Intracoastal waters light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd Holiday Shop Hours: Christmas Eve: 6am-12pm Christmas Day: Closed New Year's Eve: TBD New Year' Day: TBD Fish and Charlie taking advantage of Florida Holiday season kind of things... OFFSHORE- The sailfish bite has been good this week. Early in the week the best numbers were coming south of Palm Beach Inlet, with the bite shifting to the north as the week went on. Conditions look good headed into the weekend for the sailfish to continue snapping. 150-225' has been the best depth for the sailfish, with goggle eyes under the kites and sardines or pilchards on the flats getting the most action. A fair number of dolphin mixed in with the sailfish, along with a few scattered kings. Bottom fishing remains fair this week, with a handful of snapper around. Sardines remain the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Tough fishing this week inshore for the most part. Catch and release snook fishing (season closed December 15th) has been fair. A few snook biting at night around the bridges and docklights. Outgoing tide has been the best bet for the most part. A few sheepshead around, but no big numbers. Scattered pompano reports coming in from Sailfish Flats in Stuart. A smaller bright colored Doc's Goofy Jig is the way to go for the pompano. SURF/PIER- The Juno Beach Pier has been fairly active this week. A decent scattering of ladyfish, Spanish Mackerel, bluefish, and small jacks have been around. With a decent amount of life around, the sharks (mainly blacktips) have also been around in good numbers as well. A few pompano around this week, and conditions do look good headed into the weekend for some more to show up. A fair number of croaker and whiting around, with pieces of fresh shrimp the best way to go for them. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...SW winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming W in the afternoon. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: SW 2 ft at 4 seconds and SE 2 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SAT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: NE 3 ft at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SUN...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: E 3 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- A bit slow on reports this week, but conditions d look relatively good headed into the weekend. Sailfish bite remains fair to good depending on the day; with most boats at least seeing a few fish. No double digit release days, but getting a few release flag s flying has not been a major problem. Live baits (preferably goggle eyes) under the kites and sardines or pilchards on the flatlines is the best way to go for the sailfish. 150-225' remains a good depth to look for the sails. Mixed in with the sailfish have been a fair number of dolphin, including some good sized ones. If kite fishing isn't your thing; trolling bonita strips and squid should work for the dolphin. Bottom fishing has been fair. A mix of snapper around, along with a cobra or two for those putting the time in. Sardines remain top bait choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- A little quiet inshore this week. Snook season closes on December 15th...so just a few more days to try and bring one home. The snook have been biting best at night around the bridges, with both incoming and outgoing tide producing some bites. The tide just needs to be moving. A flair hawk jig or shrimp jig have been top choices for the snook. The pompano have been moving around on the Sailfish Flats in Stuart. A bright colored Doc's Goofy Jig is a great way to go for the pompano. Sheepshead, along with a few black drum, reports remain fair; with live shrimp remaining the bait of choice. SURF/PIER- A mid week swell, and lots of seaweed, slowed reports down a bit this week. A few scattered pompano around, with better action on the pompano coming from Hobe Sound and Stuart. Sandfleas and FishBites have been top bait choices for the pompano. The Spanish Mackerel have been around, along with a fair scattering of bluefish. Conditions have looked good at the Juno Beach Pier to see some kingfish; though have not heard any reports of any being caught. Croaker and whiting continue to bite small live shrimp and pieces of fresh shrimp well in the trough. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Wave Detail: N 4 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SAT...E winds 5 to 10 kt, increasing to 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft at 5 seconds and N 2 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SUN...NE winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming N 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Intracoastal waters light chop. A chance of showers. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Sailfish action has been good this week; with most boats getting at least a few chances, and quite a few with five or more releases. The sails have been strung up and down the line, though it does sound like the bite was a little better south of Palm Beach Inlet (at least early in the week). The usual 150-225' seemed to be working good for the sailfish, with the depth changing depending on the daily conditions. A good number of dolphin in the mix as well this week. 200-300' of water seemed to be working good for the dolphin, with bonita strips and trolling squid being a good way to go. Despite the full moon no wahoo reports to speak of; though that could change headed into the weekend. Bottom fishing has remained good, with a good mix of snapper around. Sardines and squid remain the top bait choices on the bottom.
INSHORE- A little slow on the inshore reports this week. Only about ten days left for snook season. The snook are still biting decent around the bridges at night. The slightly cooler water does have the snook biting the shrimp jig pretty good, especially on outgoing tide. A few more sheepshead showing up inshore. Live shrimp is the top bait choice for the sheepshead. Starting to get some inshore pompano reports from the Sailfish Flats in Stuart. A small bright colored Doc's Goofy Jig is a great way to go for the inshore pompano. SURF/PIER- No big numbers of pompano around this week, but those putting the time in have been finding a few. FishBites and sand fleas remain the top bait choices for the pompano. Bluefish have been biting decent along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier, especially at night. A chunk of sardine or mullet is a good way to go for the blues. The Spanish Mackerel have been cruising in and out of the Juno Beach Pier. A white crappie jig tipped with shrimp is a solid choice for the mackerel. The croaker and whiting continue to bite well. Small pieces of fresh shrimp is a great way to go for the croaker and whiting. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...S winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at 5 seconds and SE 2 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. . SAT...SW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming S 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: S 1 foot at 3 seconds and N 1 foot at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SUN...SW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming S 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Seas less than 2 ft or less, then around 2 ft in the afternoon. Wave Detail: S 1 foot at 3 seconds and N 1 foot at 8 seconds, becoming S 2 ft at 4 seconds and NE 1 foot at 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. A chance of showers in the afternoon. Thanks For Reading, Todd Jacob and family had a great day fishing with Captain Eric of: www.countylinecharters.com last week. The snook and bluefish(Pictured below) kept the rods bent the whole trip. First...Happy Thanksgiving!
Second...don't sleep on our Black Friday Sale! Some really good deals this year: Including NLBN Dealer Exclusive, JYG Pro, Thumper Shrimp, Accurate, Juno Bait Gear, Crazy $2 and $5 Bins...plus more!!!! OFFSHORE- Not so lucky on the offshore forecast this weekend...looking like a rough one! Sailfish bite will likely pick up with the passing cold front. Expect a few dolphin to be mixed in the same 150-250' range. Live goggle eyes under the kite are the way to go for sails and bigger dolphin. Before conditions changed bottom fishing had been pretty good with a decent mix of snapper around. INSHORE- Snook fishing remains pretty good inshore. The water hasn't't cooled off enough to slow them down much yet. Best bet on the snook is to fish outgoing tide at night around bridges. Sheepshead and back drum reports remain fair inshore, with live shrimp the way to go for them. A very few scattered inshore pompano reports this week; hopefully a little cooler weather pushes some more in this weekend. SURF/PIER- Strong east winds are going to make fishing from the beach tough this weekend, but the Juno Beach Pier will likely have some fish around. Pompano have been around this week, with better numbers up to the north. A fair mixture of bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, and small jacks around this week. Croaker and whiting have been biting well this week. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...N winds 20 to 25 kt. Seas 6 to 9 ft, occasionally to 11 ft. Wave Detail: N 8 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SAT...E winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 6 to 8 ft, occasionally to 10 ft. Wave Detail: E 8 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters rough in exposed areas. SUN...E winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft, occasionally to 9 ft, subsiding to 3 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft in the afternoon. Wave Detail: E 6 ft at 7 seconds and NW 2 ft at 7 seconds, becoming E 5 ft at 6 seconds and NW 2 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A chance of showers. A chance of tstms in the afternoon. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Sailfish action has been decent this week. Not peak looking conditions for the sailfish headed into the weekend, but some live baits under the kite should get a look or two. A decent number of dolphin around this week, and conditions do look good for the dolphin to bite well this weekend. 250-500' of water seems to be working well for the dolphin. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid is a solid way to go for the dolphin. Blackfin tuna action has been very good north of Jupiter Inlet. Best bite on the blackfin will be early and late in the day. A good assortment of sizes, but some solid tuna in the mix for sure. Bottom fishing has been good this week. Solid vermillion fishing in 300' of water. Inside of the 120' ledge a decent mix of yellowtail and mutton snapper have been biting. Sardines and squid are the baits of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains the best bet inshore this week. A handful of snook cruising the Loxahatchee during the day, but best action has been at night around the bridges. Outgoing tide has been working a little better for the snook. A mixture of Flair Hawk Jigs, swimbaits, straight tails, and shrimp jigs have been working well for the snook. Sheepshead and black drum action has continued to improve inshore, with fresh shrimp being the bait of choice. A few mangrove snapper around as well. A decent number of jacks roaming around inshore; with a lot of them on the smaller side. SURF/PIER- Fishing remained good along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier this week. Pompano reports slowed a bit; but still a handful of them being caught. Pompano reports seemed a bit better along the beach, with only a few caught at the pier. Bluefish have been around in decent numbers. The bluefish have been biting chunks of sardines and mullet at night very well. Spanish Mackerel have been moving in and out at the Juno Beach Pier. One day will be hot for the Macs, and the next day is slow. The croaker and whiting have been biting very well this week. Small live shrimp and pieces of shrimp are the way to go for the croaker and whiting. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...E winds around 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SAT THROUGH SUN...E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas less than 2 ft or less. Wave Detail: NE 1 foot at 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd ***SHOP NOTE*** -Closed next Thursday for Thanksgiving (Publix said it was OK) -Stay tuned to our Social Media for info on next week's Black Friday Sale...It's going to be REALLY GOOD!!! OFFSHORE- Another relatively nice forecast for this time of year coming up this weekend. Sailfish action has started to improve locally, with most boats putting the kites out seeing at least a fish or two. Most of the sailfish have been in 150-225' of water depending on the conditions. Dolphin, including some big enough to need a gaff on, will be mixed in with the sailfish in the same general area. Wahoo reports left a little to be desired on the moon last weekend, though a fair number did get caught down south. Snapper fishing seems to have picked up on the bottom. Some good yellowtail reports this week in 90' of water, along with some decent vermillion catches out a little deeper. A mixed bag assortment of lane snapper and grunts seemed to be coming off the bottom as well this week.
INSHORE- Snook fishing was a bit tougher this week with cooler water temps, but still the best beer inshore. During the day the snook will really start laying up on dark mud bottoms to warm up. At night the snook have been feeding on outgoing tide around the bridges. The snook's metabolism hasn't slowed down much yet; so an assortment of flair hawks, bigger swimbaits, and shrimp jigs are all solid choices for the snook. During the day live mullet remain a top choice for the snook. Cooler water has helped get an assortment of smaller black drum and sheepshead biting inshore as well. Live shrimp remains a top choice for both the sheepshead and drum. The cooler weather should also start to get a little more life moving around on the Munyon Island and Hobe Sound Flats. SURF/PIER- Pompano reports have been good again this week both along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier. Best action on the pomps has been early morning, and then another decent bite later in the afternoon. The usual assortment of baits (Sandfleas, clams, fresh shrimp, FishBites, and Fishgum) have all been working on the beach for the pompano. The same baits are catching them on the Juno Beach Pier; as well as some decent numbers being caught on Doc's Goofy Jigs. Bright colored jigs (char, pink, orange, and yellow) seem to be producing the best action so far. A fair number of small bluefish have been caught on cut sardines and mullet. Some decent numbers of small jacks around as well. Croaker and whiting action remains good, with fresh pieces of shrimp being the bait of choice. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: NE 3 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SAT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: NE 3 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SUN...SW winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: SE 2 ft at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
