OFFSHORE- Nice looking forecast headed into the weekend; with the next front rolling through early next week. Rough conditions early in the week have once again kept reports to a minimum. Dolphin should be around in 200-400' of water. The usual trolling assortment of strips, squid, and ballyhoo will all work well for the dolphin. No wahoo reports from the early part of the week; but the moon looks right for them to bite headed into the weekend. This time of year a big bonita strip with a sea-witch pulled behind a planer is the way to go for the dolphin. Bottom fishing reports have been a bit slow, with a few snapper coming in. Not going to get a whole lot of weekends like this, this time of year; worth taking a shot if you can!
INSHORE- The snook bite remains good inshore, especially at night. Still a good number of mullet inshore so the snook will still bite the bigger swimbaits and jigs; but the shrimp jig bite is coming on strong. As the water continues to cool off the snook key in big time on the shrimp; making a Thumper Shrimp or a JYG Pro Shrymp on a ball jighead a really good lure choice. The top of the outgoing tide has been working best for the snook, but with cloudy water again don't overlook the start of the incoming as a player as well. The jacks have been cruising the river picking off late season mullet along seawalls. Still a bit early, but the first sheepshead of the season are starting to show up inshore. SURF/PIER- Pompano fishing was pretty good again this week, with some pomps coming both from the beach and from the Juno Beach Pier. Sandfleas, clams, and FishBites did most of the work from the beach. The same baits were working from the pier, with a handful of pompano also coming over the rails on Doc's Goofy Jigs. Bright colored jigs (orange, pink, char) seemed to be the ticket on the pompano. A handful of scattered bluefish around. Cut sardines and mullet is the way to go for the bluefish, with late afternoon and night being the best time for them. Good bite on the croaker and whiting this week, with small pieces of shrimp being the way to go for them. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...E winds 10 to 15 kt, diminishing to 5 to 10 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft at 5 seconds and N 1 foot at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SAT...SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: NW 1 foot at 4 seconds and SE 1 foot at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SUN...S winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming W 10 to 15 kt after midnight. Seas around 2 ft. Intracoastal waters light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd New NLBN "Dealer Exclusive" Color just in. Also some sweet new custom rods from Red Porcupine in as well...come by the shop and check them out!!!! OFFSHORE- No offshore reports to speak of early in the week, though conditions do look a little more favorable headed into the weekend. Dolphin fishing over the past few weeks has remained decent in 200-400' of water. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips and squid is always a safe way to go for the dolphin. A little NE Wind and some cooler weather could have the sailfish biting this weekend. Putting the kites up with some live baits will likely get a look or two from a sailfish and likely some hungry dolphin. Bottom fishing has picked back up with little better water conditions offshore. Sardine and squid remain the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains the best bet inshore, especially at night. The bridges continue to hold decent numbers off snook, with the best action typically going down on outgoing tide. The snook are still biting bigger lures well; but seeing a definite shift towards the shrimp jig for sure. Cooler weather will no doubt start to slow them down a bit. Other inshore action remains a bit hit or miss. SURF/PIER- The water got a little better mid week and pompano made a decent little showing before the water muddied up again late in the week. From the beach FishBites, sand fleas, and clams all picked away at the pompano. The Juno Beach Pier produced some pompano on the same baits, along with a few pomps on Doc's Goofy Jigs. The better water conditions also had the whiting biting good mid week on small pieces of fresh shrimp. Dirty water slid back in late in the week and fired the catfish bite back up! NOAA MARINE WEATHER: SAT...NE winds around 5 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 3 ft at 7 seconds and NE 1 foot at 11 seconds. Intracoastal waters smooth. SUN...NE winds 5 to 10 kt, increasing to 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 3 ft at 5 seconds and NE 1 foot at 10 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Dolphin fishing was good again this week, with a good number of fish coming in from 300-500' of water. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid remains a great way to go for the dolphin. Strong E/NE winds this week will make it a challenge to get offshore; but it should help push another round of dolphin in closer. Look for the passing front to help fire up an early season sailfish bite. Water conditions finally improved in along the edge this week. With better conditions came a better snapper bite; with a mix of yellowtail and mutton snapper coming in.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains good inshore. Best snook action has been around the bridges at night and first thing in the morning. A topwater or shallow running plug has been good when the fish are fired up on top. When the snook aren't u high in the water column a flair hawk or straight tail soft plastic (JYG Y-Tail or NLBN Straight Tail) have been a great way to go. Solid reports of mullet moving down the ICW continue to come in. For the most part a lot of the schools haven't been holding a lot of fish. Takes some luck to find a school being harassed by a hungry jack, snook, or tarpon. SURF/PIER- A combination of calmer surf and better water early in the week let better fishing along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier (Though unfortunately those conditions don't look to hold out headed into the weekend). Action seemed to be best on the Juno Beach Pier this week; though those putting the time in on the sand have been catching a few fish as well. The Pier had a handful of Spanish Mackerel and small jacks around. The big news this week though was a nice little push of pompano; including some good size fish. A few pompano were caught on Doc's Goofy Jig; but seemed to be a better number caught on bait for the most part. Sounds like a few bluefish started to show up; with popular opinion being that a good push of blues will come behind the passing cool front this weekend. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...NE winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 5 to 8 ft, occasionally to 10 ft. Wave Detail: NE 8 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters rough in exposed areas. SAT...NE winds 25 to 30 kt. Seas 7 to 10 ft, occasionally to 13 ft. Wave Detail: NE 9 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters very rough in exposed areas. SUN...E winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 6 to 9 ft, occasionally to 11 ft. Wave Detail: E 8 ft at 7 seconds and NW 2 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters rough in exposed areas. Thanks For Reading, Todd @countyline_charters frequent flyer @kidder1003 with a solid one today! OFFSHORE- The first part of the week saw some really really good dolphin fishing in 500-800' of water. It seems to have tapered off as the week has went on; but still some dolphin down to the south being reported. The water has not looked great offshore, but the dolphin didn't seem to mind. Trolling squid, bonita strips, and small ballyhoo remains the best bet for the dolphin. Most of the dolphin seemed to be in the 2-5lb range, with a handful of bigger ones around that needed a gaff. East winds this weekend could help push another rounds of dolphin in this weekend; though conditions do look a bit sporty. Other offshore action remains on the slow side. Dirty water inside of 200' has kept early season sailfish action slow, and nobody has spent much time bottom fishing.
INSHORE- Despite terrible looking water inshore, the snook fishing remains fairly good. The snook have been feeding best at night around the bridges. The top of the outgoing tide seems to be producing the most action on the snook. However, with the dirty/cloudy water conditions the snook have been biting on incoming tide as well. A bright colored flair hawk or larger swimbait have been the best bet for the snook. The finger mullet have been around in decent numbers so a medium to larger size profile bait is perfect right now. Expect a handful of jacks and possible tarpon or two to be mixed in as well with the snook. During the day the fishing remains a little tougher. For best luck during the day try to find ambush points, docks, seawalls, etc that are holding mullet schools. A loud noisy topwater or mullet splashing on the surface will be the way to go. It hasn't happened yet (At least not that I have heard about), but this is the time of year that if you were ever going to see a redfish inshore it would be now. SURF/PIER- Dirty water and rough surf conditions continues to make the surf and pier fishing tough. Despite the less than ideal conditions the Juno Beach Pier has produced a handful of snook over the past week. A fair number of smaller bluefish also showed up a the pier for a day or two this week. A chunk of mullet or sardine on the bottom was the best way to go for the bluefish. Only problem with the cut bait is you are going to deal with a fair number of catfish in the process. No pompano reports this week; still strong believe that when we get some good looking water and calmer conditions we will see a good early season push of fish. Fair bite on croaker and whiting this week despite the dirty water; fresh pieces of shrimp are the best way to go bait wise. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...NE winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft, occasionally to 9 ft. Wave Detail: NE 6 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. SAT...E winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Wave Detail: NE 4 ft at 9 seconds and E 3 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SUN...E winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Wave Detail: NE 3 ft at 9 seconds and SE 2 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd How it feels sometimes writing the fishing report some weeks! New hats in store, coming to the online store very soon.... OFFSHORE- Nothing to report from offshore this week. Conditions do look to improve a bit over the next few days and a few boats maybe able to get out. Expect the dolphin fishing to fire off as conditions improve. The day or two after a prolonged stretch of bad weather is always great for the dolphin. The wind turns north this weekend with a cool front pushing through; which could trigger a good early season sailfish bite. Depending on the water conditions look for the selfish to be in 200-300' of water. Putting the kites up will be the way to go for the sails, just be ready to deal with the dolphin as well. They will likely be all over the same kite baits as the sails! No bottom reports again; hopefully that starts to change over the next week.
INSHORE- Inshore conditions have been tough this week again. The Loxahatchee River and ICW have had a lot of freshwater and the bite has been slow. A few snook biting at night around the bridges. Bright colored flair hawks have been the best bet for the snook with the dirty water conditions. Mullet activity has been slim due to the less than ideal water conditions. As water and salinity get back to normal we should still see a decent push of fish coming through. Palm Beach Inlet has had a few jacks and tarpon cruising through, but overall conditions remain less than ideal. Conditions do look to be somewhat improving towards the end of the weekend. SURF/PIER- Tough weather conditions and very dirty water have kept reports to a bare minimum over the past few weeks....unless you're into catching catfish. The catfish bite remains very hot! Sounds like a fair amount of finger mullet have been coming down the beach over the past week. A few scattered small snook, ribbonfish, and small tarpon have been following behind the schools of finger mullet. A handful of scattered pompano around. Not big numbers; but as the weather calms down and water conditions start to improve the pompano fishing should fire off. No bluefish reports yet, but conditions are lingering up for them to arrive in the near future. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...E winds around 10 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Wave Detail: E 3 ft at 5 seconds and N 2 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Showers likely with a chance of tstms. SAT...N winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft. Intracoastal waters light chop. A chance of showers. SUN...N winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft, occasionally to 9 ft. Intracoastal waters light chop. OFFSHORE- INSHORE- SURF/PIER- NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...E winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 7 to 10 ft, occasionally to 13 ft. Wave Detail: NE 6 ft at 11 seconds and E 5 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters rough in exposed areas. Showers. A chance of tstms in the morning, then tstms likely in the afternoon. SAT...SE winds 20 to 25 kt. Seas 5 to 8 ft, occasionally to 10 ft. Wave Detail: NE 5 ft at 11 seconds and E 4 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters rough in exposed areas. Showers with a chance of tstms in the morning, then showers and tstms likely in the afternoon. SUN...SE winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft, occasionally to 9 ft. Wave Detail: NE 5 ft at 11 seconds and E 4 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Showers and tstms likely. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Dolphin reports sound good this week; with a solid number of fish being caught in 800-1000' of water. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid remains a very good way to go for the dolphin. Look for the dolphin to be on well formed weed lines, around floating debris, and on well defined current rips and color changes. Most of the dolphin have been in the 5-10lb range, with a few bigger ones in the mix as well. Conditions look good for the dolphin on Friday and Saturday. The wind comes around out of the north on Sunday and the ocean kicks up pretty good; could trigger a good early season sailfish bite. Bottom fishing reports have started to improve. Water conditions and current are getting back to normal, and the fish are responding. A good mix of snapper around, with sardines being the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains good inshore right now. Some decent pods of mullet around and the snook are tagging close behind. Scattered tarpon and jacks will be mixed in with the snook as well. The mullet will be most active early in the morning, late in the afternoon, and at night. At night the snook will also be hanging around the bridges. Outgoing tide seems to be the best bet on the snook, with a flair hawk jig remaining a top lure choice right now. If the snook are popping mullet on top; a Yo-Zuri Hydro Pencil or Yo-Zuri Mag Darter is a solid lure choice. The toadies are biting well inshore this week. Small pieces of fresh shrimp on a long shank hook is the way to go for the toadies. SURF/PIER- Despite less than ideal looking water along the beach; the fishing has been pretty good. A good number of mullet pods have been coming down the beach with snook and tarpon still being around in good numbers (When the bluefish show up...the snook go away!). Some jacks and sharks have been mixed in the mullet schools as well. A live mullet fished on the edge or under the school is a great way to go. When you're fishing in a million baits, you have to figure out how to make yours look a little different. The Juno Beach Pier snook bite is not red hot right now; but still a pretty good number of fish around. The bait situation (unless a school of mullet comes by) is a little tough at the pier. Pompano reports were good last weekend, with a nice number of fish around. Conditions look good to hopefully se some pompano show up again this weekend as well. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...S winds around 5 kt. Seas less than 2 ft or less. Wave Detail: SE 1 foot at 2 seconds and N 1 foot at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters smooth. A chance of showers and tstms. SAT...SE winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming E in the afternoon. Seas less than 2 ft or less, then around 2 ft in the afternoon. Wave Detail: SE 1 foot at 3 seconds, becoming E 1 foot at 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. A chance of showers and tstms. SUN...N winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Wave Detail: NE 5 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A chance of showers and tstms. Thanks For Reading, Todd IG @kidder1003 with a solid one out of "The Mighty" fishing with Capt Eric (www.countylinecharters.com) this week..."The Mighty" of course being the world famous Loxahatchee. OFFSHORE- Tough fishing continued offshore this week. Inside of 300' the water remains dirty with very little current. A few scattered dolphin out deep this week; with reports seeming to bounce from 800-1000' of water. The usual smaller trolling baits are the way to go for the dolphin; with bonita strips and squid being solid choices. Most of the dolphin have been in the 3-5lb range with a few 10lb fish in the mix. No wahoo reports this week to speak of, but that could change with the new moon this weekend. This time of year the sea-witch and bonita strip behind a planer is the way to go for the wahoo. Bottom fishing reports remain very hit or miss. When the tide gets back to running north and the water starts to clean up the bottom fishing should improve.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains the best bet inshore right now. The snook will be following mullet schools and seem to be feeding best at first light or as the sun is going down. A lot of freshwater in the Loxahatchee River and parts of the ICW right now, so look for the fishing to be a little better closer to the inlets. A handful of tarpon and jacks will be mixed in with the snook as well. A noisy topwater like a Yo-Zuri Hydro Pencil is a good choice during lowlight periods of the day. At night the snook have been hanging around the bridges in decent numbers. A flair hawk style jig remains a top lure choice for the snook. SURF/PIER: Despite rather gross looking conditions and a fair amount of scattered seaweed, fishing along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier has been fair this week. The mullet run has been a bit sporadic this week, but still some decent pods coming by. The snook, tarpon, and jacks have been following close behind the pods. Early morning and late afternoon tends to produce the most action around the mullet schools. The Juno Beach Pier has been producing a good number of small pompano, along with a decent number of ladyfish. A bright colored Doc's Goofy Jig will work well for both. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...N winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at 4 seconds and NE 2 ft at 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Showers likely with a chance of tstms. SAT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 3 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers likely with a chance of tstms. SUN...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 3 ft at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers likely with a chance of tstms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Not a lot to write about offshore wise this week; with a lack of tide along the edge, strange funky water, and an ocean full of crabs. The strange ocean conditions have kept the rock shrimp floating around the surface, but have left the fishing sub par at best. It does look like a mild front pushes through into the weekend and that will hopefully help get conditions more back to normal. Despite the conditions a handful of wahoo are being caught on the backside of the full moon. The wahoo have been biting bonita strips with a sea-witch much better than anything else. Most of the wahoo have been coming in the 175-300' range. A few scattered dolphin reports way out deep, but not very predictable. Snapper fishing remains very hit or miss on the bottom.
INSHORE- The mullet have started to flow inshore in pretty good numbers this week. As usual the mullet will move much better at night and during lowlight conditions. Snook, tarpon, jacks, and even the occasional redfish could be hanging around the mullet schools. The snook have been locked in on the mullet around the bridges at night. A flair hawk, larger swimbait, Yo-Zuri Mag Darter, or Yo-Zuri Hydro Pencil are all good lure choices for the snook. Outgoing tide seems to produce a little better, but incoming tide with cloudy water will also work well. During the day look for the snook ands tarpon to be following mullet schools further up the Loxahatchee River and in the ICW. Docks and seawalls with some water depth are great areas to look for as they make ideal ambush points for predators following the mullet. Doesn't get the same press as the mullet run...but the fall toadie run is on for those into that kind of thing! SURF/PIER- The early part of the week saw some nice pods of mullet with snook and tarpon rolling down the beach. A slight building swell and funky water conditions into the middle of the week seem to have slowed things down a bit. That will likely change headed into the weekend with favorable conditions lining up. The mullet should be around in very good numbers headed into the weekend. The best action will likely be early morning and then again late afternoon. Fishing mullet on the edge of the school or underneath the school is. solid way to go. Loud noisy lures in bright colors can also be a good way to go when fishing around mullet schools. A handful of early season pompano around, but most of the fish have been on the smaller side. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...N winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming NE 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 3 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers with tstms likely. SAT...NE winds around 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Showers likely. A chance of tstms in the morning, then tstms likely in the afternoon. SUN...NE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Wave Detail: NE 3 ft at 8 seconds and N 3 ft at 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Showers likely with a chance of tstms. Thanks For Reading, Todd Longtime customer Dave and friends found a nice fall pumpkin... OFFSHORE- The new moon wahoo bite has been good this week, with some good numbers around. The wahoo have been biting along the 120' ledge early in the mornin g, and then sliding out to 250-400' of water as the sun gets up higher in the sky. A sea-witch and bonita strip behind the planer is a great way to go for the wahoo. The Nomad DTX minnow is also getting some wahoo bites. A few scattered dolphin out deep; with the better catches coming outside of 800' of water. The usual assortment of small bonita strips, squid, and ballyhoo remain solid choices for the dolphin. Bottom fishing remains relatively tough. The current has been on the slow side and the bite has been very slow. When the current gets back to more normal conditions the snapper fishing should improve.
INSHORE- Tough fishing inshore this week for the most part. A few mullet have started to trickle in, but the full on mullet run has not started yet. It looks like things should open up soon; but as of now it remains a waiting game. Snook fishing has been fair, with those really putting the time and effort in finding a few. The snook fishing has been better at night, with outgoing tide tending to be the better bet. Flairhawks and swimbaits remain top lure choices for the snook. When the mullet really start to flood inshore expect the snook and tarpon to really fire up inshore; but when that happens remains anyones guess. SURF/PIER- Fishing remains relatively tough overall along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier. Everyone is waiting on the mullet to show up. At the time of writing a few small pods of passed by; but overall things have not really started happening yet. A few snook biting late in the afternoon at the Juno Beach Pier, with bigger live baits being the way to go. The Spanish Mackerel have made a decent little showing this week at the pier. A smaller swimming plug or bobber rig with a Clark spoon have been a good way to go for the macs. Freelining a small live bait is also a great way to go for targeting the mackerel. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...W winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming S in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at 7 seconds and SW 1 foot at 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Showers, tstms. SAT...S winds around 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: SW 1 foot at 3 seconds and N 1 foot at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Showers and tstms likely. SUN...S winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: SW 1 foot at 3 seconds and N 1 foot at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Showers and tstms likely.
