Hope everyone is having a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Killer Black Friday/Small Business Saturday Sales this weekend...come check it out if you have a chance! OFFSHORE- Would say we have a fairish forecast for this time of year. Not super nice, but not un-fishable either. Sailfish reports have been on the rise the past week. Most boats putting the live baits out under the kite are getting at least a chance or two on the sails. Dolphin fishing remains solid, with some good size fish in the mix. Kingfish are scattered along the 120' ledge in pretty good numbers. Pretty solid bottom fishing with some good yellowtail and mutton snapper reports. Speaking of bottom fishing, last week saw some really really good deep water bottom fishing, especially on the Slow Pitch Jigs. Our friends at JygPro Fishing (http://jygprofishing.com) went on an absolute tear. Cool pic from them below. INSHORE- Windy rainy weather early in the week had the snook bite on fire inshore. Another fair push of unexpected mullet had the snook and big jacks ready to go. Clearing weather will slow that bite a bit; but expect the snook still to be fired up. The bite will likely get better at night for the snook, especially around the bridges. Did have a few more sheepshead reports, along with the occasional black drum report as well; getting to be that time. Sounds like the pompano report up north (Stuart area) is hearting up inshore on bright colored Doc's Goofy Jigs. SURF/PIER- Reports have started to improve along the beach. Still dealing with less than ideal water conditions, but if you find cleaner water the fish have been around. Pompano reports are definitely on the rise this week. The usual baits (FishBites, Clams, Sandfleas, Fresh Shrimp) have been the way to go for the pomps. You never know what the pomps will want any given day; so it generally pays to have a variety of baits to offer them. A scattering of some late season mullet has a mix of jacks, bluefish, small tarpon, and even a few snook around. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...S winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SAT...E NE winds around 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers in the afternoon. SUN...S winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Well...after a nice little stretch of weather last weekend into the first part of the week; it looks like things go away from us again this weekend. Over the past week dolphin fishing has been pretty solid. The best dolphin reports seem to be coming in roughly 600-800' of water. Depth has varied depending on water conditions. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, or squid remains the best bet on the dolphin. Inside of 300' the sailfish have started to bite a little better. Conditions do look right for the sails to bite this weekend (the same dolphin that have been out deeper will likely be in with the sails in 120-200' of water as well). A few wahoo around the past week on the backside of the moon. Kingfish also remain scattered along the 120' ledge in decent numbers. Bottom fishing was good this week. The current was on the slower side, which had the yellowtail snapper biting good! Nice mixed bag of porgies, grunts, and the other usual suspects on the bottom as well.
INSHORE- Pretty good inshore reports despite less than overall water conditions. Snook fishing remains solid; especially with a slightly unexpected pop of mullet showing up after Nicole. The Loxahatchee River has been holding a fair number of snook, along with a few tarpon and jacks. The bridge snook bite remains good at night. With temps remaining fairly warm the snook are still biting bigger baits well; but are also responding well to smaller presentations (3" NLBN or Shrimp Jig) as well. As the water temps drop the smaller and slower the baits go the better! A scattering of sheepshead around, but no big numbers yet. Expect that to get better as the water cools off a little more. SURF/PIER- Despite much nicer conditions along the beach this week the surf fishing remains on the slower side. The water is still an off color after the storm; which is no doubt not helping the fishing. The Juno Beach Pier is back open, with only limited reports coming through. When catfish lead off what's being caught at the pier...you know things are not great. The Juno Beach Pier has also had a few small jacks and ribbonfish around. With any luck NE winds will help get some more Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, and Pompano headed in our direction. Have heard a handful of rumors (We won't call them reports so much!) of some decent pompano fishing starting in Jensen Beach and headed north. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...N NE winds around 15 kt with gusts to around 20 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of showers. SAT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of showers in the morning, then a chance of showers in the afternoon. SUN THROUGH MON...E NE winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to around 25 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A chance of showers. Thanks For Reading, Todd Check out the size of this fat snook!!! Stephen and Jack had a great trip fishing with Captain Eric of www.countylinecharters.com OFFSHORE- This may come as a bit of a surprise...but we haven't had any reports for the past week. The weekend forecast is actually looking halfway decent. Saturday looks like it could be a dolphin day, and Sunday could have the sailfish biting. If the water isn't too bad inside the 120' ledge, it could be a really good bottom bite as well. A lot of would, could, and should's I know...but after the past week of weather it's about all we have to go with!
INSHORE- Water inshore (at time of writing) is way up and pretty dirty for the most part. Areas of cleaner water will no doubt have the snook fired up: And as the water clears it will only help to get them biting better. Use the wind to your advantage to help easily direct baits to easy ambush points. Mixed in with the snook will be a fair number of tarpon and some big jacks. Expect the rough weather to push some snapper into Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlet. SURF/PIER- Surf has been blown out all week, and the Juno Beach Pier has been closed since lunchtime on Monday...so as you may guess, no reports of any kind this week. No word yet on when the Pier will reopen, but it will likely be a few days before it does. Palm Beach Inlet should have a fair number of jacks and possibly some bluefish and Spanish Mackerel around. Hopefully SW winds help clean the water up quick, surf calms down as the weekend goes on, and the fish show up! NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...S SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts to around 20 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Period 4 seconds. NE swell 4 ft. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers. SAT...W SW winds around 5 kt becoming S SW in the evening. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Intracoastal waters smooth. A slight chance of showers and tstms in the afternoon. SUN...N winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Intracoastal waters light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd The new Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Pencil maybe the BEST small topwater lure on the market! Excellent walk the dog action, great casting, and perfect when the fish are keyed in on smaller baits! OFFSHORE- Bit of a windy weekend ahead...to put it mildly. A few days of NE wind in the forecast (unfortunately without much of a temperature drop) could really fire the sailfish up. Look for 150-250' to be about right for the sails. Dolphin reports have been good this week in 200-400' of water. The dolphin should slide into the same depth range as the sailfish. Both the sails and dolphin should jump all over a live goggle eye or small blue runner fished under a kite. Wahoo reports were good again this week. Split tail mullet or a big bonita strip fished behind a planer or trolling sinker is a good way to go for the wahoo. Bottom fishing reports early in the week were pretty good; though conditions likely won't really make it worth trying on the bottom this weekend.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains good inshore. Seems like just about every time it seems the mullet are gone a few more pods roll through. With no significant temperature drops the snook have still been eating the bigger baits well. Flair Hawk Jigs, 5" NLBN paddle tails, and live mulletother continue to get bites. As the temperatures drop the snook will really begin to key in on shrimp and smaller baits. Those baits will no doubt get bites now; but the bigger lures/baits are still in play for sure right now. Still a few tarpon floating around the Loxahatchee River, along with some big jacks. Closer to the inlets the smaller jacks have been around in pretty good numbers. SURF/PIER- Dirty water along the beach has the fishing very very slow this week. The Juno Beach Pier has been slow as well with the dirty water. At time of writing the water has started to clear a bit along the beach: Fingers crossed it continues that way. Been a fair number of small jacks and some ribbonfish around. A very occasional pompano report or two this week, but not much. With any luck the NE wind in the forecast will get some fish pointed in our direction. Expect to see a fair number of Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, and hopefully pompano in the very near future. The sharks are around in good numbers. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...NE winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 4 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. SAT...E NE winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to around 25 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft. E NE swell 3 ft in the afternoon. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. SUN...NE winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to around 25 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft, occasionally to 9 ft. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A slight chance of showers. MON...N NE winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to around 25 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft, occasionally to 9 ft. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A chance of showers in the afternoon. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
