OFFSHORE: Little different looking weather forecast this weekend than the last few weeks. Reports have been a bit on the slim side over the last week due to the weather. Dolphin fishing seems to be following its typical summer pattern and is starting to move offshore as the weeks go on. Most dolphin reports seem to be coming from 500' of water or deeper these days. Blackfin Tuna are biting well in 200-400' of water during lowlight periods of the day. A small daisy chain or small trolling feather is a good choice for the blackfin. Should be a few wahoo caught this weekend on the backside of the full moon in 150-300' of water either high speeding or pulling split tail mullet down deep. Kingfish are biting along the 120' ledge on live sardines. Bottom fishing reports have been a bit on the slow side this week.
INSHORE: Catch and release snook fishing will be the main game in town this weekend on the inshore side of things. The Spillways and bridges have both been producing a good number of snook. Hogy pro paddletails and SpoolTeks have been hot lure choices for the snook, as have flair hawk style jigs. The mangrove snapper action inshore continues to improve on a weekly basis. Sandperch action has been good in the ICW using fresh cut shrimp. Large amounts of freshwater have other inshore action on the slowside. SURF/PIER: The Juno Beach Pier has been pretty hot as of late. Decent number of Kingfish have been around each morning and again late in the afternoon. Rapala X-Raps and Yo-Zuri Longcast Minnows have been good lure choices for the kingfish. Snook action continues to improve almost daily at the pier. Fair scattering of jacks and spanish mackerel around as well to keep things interesting. Still a handful of pompano reports trickling in. Sandfleas and clams remain the bait of choice for the late season pompano. Croaker, whiting, and sandperch are biting small pieces of cut shrimp good in the first trough. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...South southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers. A slight chance of thunderstorms. SATURDAY...South winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers in the morning...then a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. SUNDAY...Southwest winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to southwest 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Weather this week has once again kept offshore reports to a minimum. Dolphin fishing should be good with a nice southeast wind in the forecast. Look for the dolphin to be in 200-400' of water. Smaller ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid are all good trolling bait choices for the dolphin right now. Mixed in with the dolphin should be some decent size blackfin tuna. Small trolling feathers and small daisy chains are great lure choices for the blackfin tuna. The kingfish are biting well along the 120' ledge , especially late in the afternnoon. Live sardines are the bait of choice for the kings, while a frozen sardine on a knocker rig is a close second. Still a few cobia hanging around in the same areas as the kingfish. Snapper reports were a bit slow this week.
INSHORE: Good snook fishing this week at the Spillways thanks to the relentless rain. DOA TerrorEyz and Hogy Paddletails have been hot lure choices at the Spillway. The snook are also moving around area bridges at night in pretty good numbers as well. Flair Hawks and bigger swimbaits remain the top lure choices for the snook right now. Look for outgoing tide to produce the best action on the snook. Still some big jacks cruising around in the ICW, along with a stray tarpon or two. Mangrove snapper action has slowly started to improve inshore. Small live pilchards and live shrimp are top bait choices for the snapper right now. SURF/PIER: Snook fishing remains pretty good around the Juno Beach Pier and both Jupiter and Palm Beach Inlets. Last weekend of the season to invite one home for dinner. The snook are biting best early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Still a few pompano hanging around for those putting the time in. Croaker and whiting are biting in the first trough. Some spanish mackerel have been hanging around Jupiter Inlet. The Juno Beach Pier has been seeing some big jacks, bonita, and a few kingfish. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers likely in the morning. A slight chance of thunderstorms through the day. A chance of showers in the afternoon. SATURDAY...Winds southeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Showers likely. A chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. SUNDAY...Southeast winds around 20 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms. MONDAY...South southeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Crappy weather has kept just about everybody at home, and it doesn't look like much of a change for the upcoming weekend. Before the weather really went south; dolphin fishing remained fair, but very scattered. REports came in from 200-1500' of water, and for the most part had no real rhyme or reason. Blackfin tuna remain scattered out in 180-300' of water. Low light periods of the day remain the best to target the blackfin tuna (and ultimately also keep the bonita bites to a minimum). In along the 120' ledge kingfish remain scattered up and down the line in pretty decent numbers. Live sardines remain the bait of choice for the kings, but a frozen sardine on a knocker rig should also do the trick. A few cobia remain mixed in with the kingfish. Snapper reports remain pretty good.
INSHORE: Snook fishing continues to go off pretty good inshore right now. The snook got the memo that it was almost summer spawning time and they are feeding pretty darn good right now. Boat docks and seawalls are good areas to fish during the day, while bridges close to the inlets continue to produce at night. Flair hawks and bigger swimbaits remain the lures of choice for the snook. Been some big jacks along the same seawalls that the snook are hanging around. Nothing quite like a monster jack destroying a noisy topwater walked along a seawall early in the morning. Mangrove snapper action continues to slowly improve inshore. Sandperch bite has been very good on small pieces of fresh cut shrimp right now. SURF/PIER: Still a few pompano around and being caught. NO doubt we are nearing the end of the pompano season, but it's still worth putting them out at this point. Sandfleas and clams are still the top bait choice for the pomps. For all around action, including the pompano, try fishing some cut shrimp for very mixed bag action. The Juno Beach Pier has been pretty hot lately. Some kingfish coming over the rail early in the morning and late in the afternoon on Rapala X-Raps. The big jacks have been cruising around. Snook action also continues to improve at the pier. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to southeast 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms. SATURDAY...Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots along the coast to southeast 15 to 20 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Showers with thunderstorms likely. SUNDAY...East southeast winds 10 to 15 knots along the coast to east southeast 15 to 20 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd Offshore: Good looking forecast for the upcoming weekend. Dolphin fishing was very good again this week for those putting the time in. The dolphin have been scattered from 200-1500' of water with no super consistent depth. Setting up a chum slick in productive looking water and drifting has also been productive. A little ground chum and menhaden oil can really do some wonders for attracting the dolphin. Blackfin tuna, from small footballs to 15 pounders, were mixed in with the dolphin in fair numbers this week. A small trolling feather or smaller Tormenter Daisy chain have been solid choices for the blackfin. Inside the 120' ledge late spring/early summer fishing has really fired up good. The kingfish have showed up in good numbers. Best action on the kingfish has been in 90-150' of water during low light periods of the day. Mixed in with the kings have been a decent number of cobia, especially north of the Juno Beach Pier. Mutton snapper bite has also been very good in the same area with some good size yellowtail snapper in the mix as well. Sardines remain the top bait choice for bottom fishing.
Inshore: Snook fishing continues to improve with warming weather. The snook are more active by the day and really beginning to push towards the inlet. Best snook action will be at night around bridges closer to the inlets, with outgoing tide being the best. Bigger swim baits, flair hawk jigs, and swimming plugs are all good choices for the snook. Live mullet are also great bait choice for the snook. Mangrove snapper are starting to filter into their normal inshore summertime hangouts. Mostly smaller mangroves right now, but some better ones should be close behind. Sandperch are biting very good inshore right now, with small pieces of fresh shrimp being the top bait choice. Surf/Pier: Pompano action has started to slow, but is not totally done yet. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times to target pompano right now. Sandfleas and clams remain the top bait choice for the pompano. Snook are starting to move along the beach in better numbers, have been around the Juno Beach Pier, and are filling into the inlets as well. Live croakers and sardines will be the top snook baits. The Juno Beach Pier has had good action this week with scattered Spanish and King Mackerel, big jacks, and snook all hanging around. The live baits are showing back up around the pier in better numbers...and the bigger stuff is not far behind. Lots of good stuff going on! NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...East northeast winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to east northeast 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to southeast 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A chance of showers in the morning...then showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms. SHOP UPDATES: Fresh Ballyhoo coming in Thursday Afternoon! 5lb Sardine Boxes back in-stock Thursday afternoon as well. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Those braving the less than ideal ocean conditions this week found a fairly good dolphin bite going on offshore. Action seemed to be in 200-400' of water from Palm Beach to Jupiter Inlet. Trolling bonita strips and squid was once again a very effective way to put some dolphin in the boat. Going to be a bit sloppy for the weekend, but dolphin fishing should remain good right on through. The east wind should also help keep pushed them in closer to shore. In along the 120' ledge the kingfish remain scattered up and down the line. Drifting sardines on a knocker rig is a solid bet for the kingfish right now. Bottom fishing reports were a bit slow this week; no doubt mostly due to the less than ideal ocean conditions.
