OFFSHORE- Reports were a bit slower this week, but still good action overall. Dolphin fishing remains fair; just have to get lucky and find them. Instead of trolling blindly in a set depth; look for fishy signs (bait, rips, debris, weedlines, etc) to find the dolphin. In other words: Don't run past a good looking current rip in 200', just because someone said the dolphin had been in 400'. Trolling bonita strips and squid is a good lure choice for the dolphin. Lots of life along the 120' ledge (fish could be on the shallow or deep side of the ledge depending on current and water conditions). Kingfish will be the main draw along the ledge. Drifting with live baits or dead sardines will be top choices for the kings. Backside of the full moon this weekend, so expect a few wahoo to be around. Snapper fishing remains pretty good. Sardines will be the top bait choice for the snapper.
INSHORE- Inshore fishing was a bit slow this week. Snook bite remains your best bet, with the fishing starting to stack up closer to the inlets. Bridge bite has been good at night, try a flair hawk on the outgoing tide. During the day mullet fished along seawalls and under boat docks will be your best bet for the snook. A few reports of some big jacks cruising around the ICW, also looking to blast a mullet along a seawall. The upper parts of the Loxahatchee River are holding a few small tarpon. Look for the tarpon to be up rolling earl in the morning. Inshore mangrove snapper reports are getting better by the week. SURF/PIER- The pompano bite slowed a bit this week. Still some fish around, but it took some work to get through the seaweed. The general thought is we should see another push of pompano come through, so don't put the surf stuff away just yet! Sandfleas, clams, FishBites, and FishGum remain the top bait choices for the pompano. Those baits are also good for croaker, blue runners, and small jacks that have been mixed in. Spanish Mackerel are still hanging around the Juno Beach Pier in fair numbers, with a white crappie jig being the top lure choice. If you find the Macs somewhere along the beach try a bobber rig with a small Clark spoon for fast action. The snook are starting to show up along the beach and at the pier in a little better numbers. A small swimming plug, white skimmer style jig, or swimbait is a good choice to try and get the snook to bite. At the pier, a livebait or a dead sardine fished patiently on the bottom will be the best bet for the snook. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...South winds 5 to 15 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. SATURDAY...West winds 5 to 10 knots becoming southeast in the afternoon. Seas less than 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SUNDAY...South southeast winds around 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet along the coast and 2 to 4 feet with occasional to 5 feet in the Gulf Stream. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers. Slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Good springtime fishing continues offshore, with a pretty wide variety of species around. Sailfish haven't fully packed it in yet, but numbers do seem to be going down a bit. Good numbers of dolphin around, it just remains a guessing game to find them! The most action remains in/around the 120' ledge. Springtime kingfish action has really fired off over the past week. Live baits will be the best bet for the kingfish. Mixed in with the kingfish have been a few blackfin tuna and cobia. Snapper fishing remains very good along the reef, with some nice mutton snapper reports coming in. Sardines remain the bait of choice for the snapper.
INSHORE- Snook fishing continues to improve on the inshore side of things. The night bridge bite has really improved over the past few weeks. Flair hawk jigs and Hogy Swimbaits are both working very well on the snook right now. Outgoing tide has been producing the most snook bites. Some hungry big jacks continue to patrol the seawalls in the ICW looking for mullet to pick off. Starting to see a few more mangrove snapper moving inshore each week with the warming weather. A few scattered tarpon are still roaming around the upper stretches of the Loxahatchee River. SURF/PIER- Pompano fishing remained very good again this week. It did slow a bit over the few weeks before, but still a good number of them around. Sandfleas remain the top bait choice for the pompano; and it is definitely best to fish for them early morning or late afternoon. Still a good number of Spanish Mackerel hanging around the Juno Beach Pier, with a white crappie jig still the lure of choice for them. Snook are beginning to show up along the beach and pier as well. It's not full on summertime numbers yet by any means, but it is worth giving them a shot at this point. Whiting and croaker have been around in pretty good numbers at the pier. Small pieces of shrimp is the best bet bait wise for them, and they continue to bite best late in the afternoon. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...East northeast winds around 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet along the coast and 4 to 6 feet with occasional to 8 feet in the Gulf Stream. Period 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Slight chance of showers. Slight chance of thunderstorms. SATURDAY...South winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of showers. Slight chance of thunderstorms. SUNDAY...South southwest winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Good springtime fishing this week offshore. Still a fair number of sailfish around in 150-250' of water (look for them to start sliding a little deeper as the bonito start to fill in). Live baits under the kite will still be the best bet for the sailfish; but as we move on into the spring make sure to also keep at least one bait down deep. That deep bait will often times attract a sailfish bite on calmer days, and also its a great way to get a bite from a nice blackfin tuna or wahoo. Goggle eyes and small blue runners are still good bait options, but if you have the chance to get some smaller baits (cigar minnows, sardines, pilchards, or threadfins) don't pass it up. Those smaller baits really start to dominate moving forward. Fair dolphin fishing this week, with luck seeming to play the biggest part in it. Kingfish continue to fill in very nicely along the 120' ledge. Live baits are always good for the kingfish, but if you want to keep it simple don't overlook a triple hooked sardine with small flashy skirt in front of it. Bottom fishing reports seemed to pick up as we moved later into the week. Some really good yellowtails around, along with a handful of mutton snapper. Sardines remain the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains the best bet inshore right now. The Loxahatchee RIver has been holding a fair number of snook, as has the ICW up to the north. Warming weather has the snook active as they start to beef up before spawning season. Large swimbaits, flairhawk jigs, and swimming plugs will all be good choices for snook if your fishing at night. Early in the morning or late in the afternoon a topwater (like the Yo-Zuri Hydro Pencil) fished along seawalls and boat docks is a good choice for the snook. During the day it's going to be hard to beat a live mullet for the snook. Jacks are still cruising around inshore as well looking for mullet along seawalls. A small scattering of tarpon are still up in the upper parts of the Loxahatchee. A little early still, but the mangrove snapper are slowly starting to show up a little more and more inshore. SURF/PIER- Pompano fishing remained very good this week. Good numbers of pompano remain scattered up and down the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier as well. The best bait choices for the pompano remain sandfleas, clams, shrimp, FishBites, and FIshGum; while on the Juno Beach Pier Doc's Goofy Jigs(In bright colors) continue to produce. Best best for the pomps will to be fish first thing in the morning and then again late in the afternoon. The middle of the day can produce some bites, but stick to lowlight periods to optimize your chances. The Juno Beach PIer also continues to produce a good number of Spanish Mackerel. White crappie jigs remain the lure of choice for the macs. Still a few late season bluefish around, but that does seem to be coming to a close. The glass minnow schools aren't as thick as last week, but still some good ones along the beach. Jacks, Mackerel, Bluefish, snook, and tarpon could all be around any remaining schools. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...West southwest winds 5 to 10 knots becoming south 5 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SATURDAY...South winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SUNDAY...South winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers in the afternoon. Thanks For Reading, Todd The Short Version: Fishing was really good this week...GO if you have a chance!
OFFSHORE- Good springtime fishing offshore this week. Fair number of dolphin and blackfin tuna around, primarily in 220-400' of water from Palm Beach to Jupiter Inlets. Trolling squid, bonita strips, and small feathers is a good bet for both the dolphin and the blackfins. Sailfish are still biting pretty good in 150-250' of water this week on live baits. The bigger dolphin will also be mixed in with the sails. A small goggle eye, blue runner, pilchard, or sardine will be the top live baits. KIngfish are scattered along the 120' ledge in good numbers, and are biting sardines on a knocker rig well. A fair number of cobia along the 120' ledge. Bottom fishing has been good this week, with a nice mix of snapper around. Overall, just a lot of good fishing opportunities offshore right now. INSHORE- Snook fishing has been very good inshore this week. A fair number of springtime mullet and also a decent number of pilchards have the snook fired up; along with a decent number of bigger jacks and a few tarpon. Look for the best action to be at sunrise, sunset, and on good moving tides. The Loxahatchee River and ICW are both holding a good number of snook. The bridge snook bite has also popped off pretty good this week. Flair Hawk Jigs and swimbaits have been the ticket at night for the snook. SURF/PIER- The beach absolutely fired off this week in a big way! Pompano showed back up in good numbers and ready to bite. Best fishing for the pompano has bounced around from south of the Juno Beach Pier to north of the Jupiter Inlet. Good numbers of the Pompano though seems to be in/around the Jupiter Reef Club. Fishing from the beach for the pompano has been best with sandfleas, FishBites, and Fish Gum. From the Juno Beach Pier or the boat the same baits will work well, and Doc's Goofy Jigs are also catching the pompano well. This week also saw the arrival of some large schools of glass minnows. The minnows have the Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Jacks, Snook, and the Blacktip Sharks fired up. Small swimming plugs, small spoons, and metal jigs (Keep them small to resemble glass minnows) are the ticket around the minnow schools. The Sharks have been biting topwater poppers really good. Watching a shark blow up a topwater is super cool to see! NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SATURDAY...South southeast winds around 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SUNDAY...South winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots along the coast to south 10 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of showers in the morning. Slight chance of thunderstorms . Showers likely in the afternoon. Thanks For Reading, Todd SHOP NOTE: CLOSED EASTER SUNDAY (4/4)
OFFSHORE- A late season cold front could/should fire up a really good sailfish bite this weekend. Most likely this will be one of the last fronts of the year; so if you have the ability to get offshore (won't be a small boat kind of weekend) expect the sails to be snapping. Expect the sailfish to be in the 120-150' range. Live goggle eyes and blue runners under the kite will be the ticket for the sailfish. Dolphin will be mixed in with the sailfish. Don't expect a lot of dolphin, but the ones around should be good sized. Kingfish are scattered along the 120' ledge in good numbers. Blackfin Tuna are beginning to make their springtime showing. Cobia reports have been improving over the past few weeks. INSHORE- Snook fishing remains good inshore. A cool front this weekend will no doubt though slow it down a bit. THe jacks are showing up inshore in fair numbers. A few tarpon remain scattered in the Loxahatchee River. Other inshore action has been a bit slow. A bit spotty inshore, but expect conditions to begin improving soon. SURF/PIER- Pompano fishing has remained good over the past few weeks. Sandfleas, clams, and Fishbites remain the top bait choices for the pompano. Doesn't like like an ideal weekend for the beach, so consider trying the pier. If the water doesn't get too dirty, the pomps could bite really good this weekend. The Juno Beach Pier has been producing a scattering of Spanish Mackerel, as well as a few late season bluefish. Starting to see a few early season snook showing up. Won't be an ideal weekend for the surf, but once it calms back down it should be really good. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...North northeast winds 20 to 25 knots with gusts to around 35 knots. Seas 5 to 7 feet with occasional seas to 9 feet along the coast and 9 to 11 feet with occasional to 14 feet in the Gulf Stream. Period 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SATURDAY...Northeast winds 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Seas 5 to 7 feet with occasional seas to 9 feet along the coast and 7 to 9 feet with occasional to 11 feet in the Gulf Stream. Period 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. SUNDAY...Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
