OFFSHORE- Weather looks like we may see a little sailfish bite go off this weekend. Expect the sailfish to be in 150-300' of water (maybe a little deeper depending on overall water conditions) from Palm Beach Inlet to north of Jupiter Inlet. Live goggle eyes and blue runners under the kite will be the best bet for the sailfish. Current rips, color changes, and large areas of bait are great areas to start the search for the sails. Dolphin remain scattered in the same areas. The bigger dolphin will bite the same live baits as the sailfish, but for overall dolphin numbers try trolling small ballyhoo and skirted squid. The bottom fishing remains pretty strong with some good snapper catches coming in. A few cobia in the mix as well on the bottom.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains good around the bridges at night. Shrimp jigs are a solid choice for the snook right now, especially on the outgoing tide. The flats around Munyon Island and Home Sound are starting to hold a few fish, and that should improve with a few decent cold fronts. Sheepshead and black drum are being caught around area bridges on fresh shrimp. SURF/PIER- Dirty water had fishing tough most of the week. A few pompano are being caught on clams, sandfleas, and Fishbites. A handful of Spanish Mackerel and some bluefish are being caught on the Juno Beach Fishing Pier. A little clean water will really help fire up the surf fishing. NOAA MARINE WEATHER- FRIDAY...Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots along the coast to northeast 15 to 20 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. SATURDAY...Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. .SATURDAY NIGHT...East northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of showers. SUNDAY ...East northeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Looks like a fairly fishable weekend overall coming up. Dolphin action has been fair in 300-500' of water over the past week. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid remains best bet for the dolphin right now. Sailfish action has started to improve; and with some north wind in the forecast they should bite pretty good this weekend! Live gogs under the kite are no doubt the best bet for the sails. Depending on the water conditions look for the sailfish to be in 150-300' of water. Mixed in with the sailfish will be some dolphin and stray kingfish or two. Bottom fishing (depending on the day) remains strong. Pretty good grouper catches still coming in, as well as good snapper action. Sardines remain the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains good inshore; especially at night around the bridges and docklights. The snook are in that in between zone of eating both mullet and shrimp. Look for the snook to be most active on the outgoing tide. Some redfish still moving around inshore. The sheepshead and black drum are also starting to bite inshore a bit. SURF/PIER- Should be a good weekend to give the surf a try. The Spanish Mackerel have been biting at the Juno Beach Pier. Small flashy jigs, crappie jigs, and small diamond jigs have all been good lure choices for the macs. Bluefish are mixed in with the macs as well. A handful of pompano have been caught over the past week, and numbers should improve with improving water conditions. Sandfleas, clams, and fishbones have been good bait choices for the pompano. Still a handful of snook being caught along the beach as well. NOAA MARINE WEATHER- FRIDAY...West southwest winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Showers likely in the morning. A slight chance of thunderstorms through the day. A chance of showers in the afternoon. SATURDAY...North northwest winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to north northwest 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 3 feet along the coast and 3 to 5 feet with occasional to 6 feet in the Gulf Stream. Period 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers in the afternoon. SUNDAY...North northeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Not much to write about from the past week, as rough weather kept just about everybody at the dock this week. If the weather allows expect the sailfish action to be decent from Palm Beach to Jupiter Inlet. Water conditions have not been ideal as of late, so look for some cleaner water for best results. Depth range could be anywhere from 100-300' of water depending on conditions. The dolphin, including some good size ones, should also be mixed in with the sails. Live goggle eyes and blue runners under the kites will be the top bait choice for both the sailfish and the bigger dolphin. If conditions allow, bottom fishing has also been good as of late.
INSHORE: Snook fishing has stayed good despite the dirty water. Most are bridges have been holding snook at night, especially on the outgoing tide. Flair hawks and shrimp jigs have been very productive lures for the snook. The dirty water has had other inshore action a bit on the slow side. Mixed reports of some tarpon and jacks around, but nothing to consistent. SURF/PIER: Less than ideal conditions and dirty water kept surf reports to a minimum this week. It's a tough week when the catfish are biting at the pier! If the water cleans back up expect a push of both spanish mackerel and bluefish, and possibly some pompano. We will try to keep the report updated as things hopefully improve. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...Northeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A slight chance of showers through the day. SATURDAY...East winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SUNDAY...North northwest winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SHOP UPDATES: Closed on Thanksgiving Black Friday Hours 6AM-6PM Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Well...Not an ideal forecast for the upcoming weekend! Sailfish Tournament season starts this weekend with the "Dust Em' Off" three inlet tournament on Saturday; and from the looks of things its going to be a bit "sporty". Expect somebody to catch them pretty good this weekend, especially with teams scattered up and down the line. Dolphin, including some pretty good size ones have been mixed in with the sailfish. Best depth will most likely between 120-250' of water, with good action from the Juno Beach Pier up to Jupiter Inlet.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains the best game in town, especially around the bridges at night. The shrimp jig bite is really firing up as the weather cools and the mullet continue to thin out. That said, the snook are still responding well to the end of the season run of mullet so keep some X-Raps or Yo-Zuri's in the bag in case a school of mullet swims by. Some big jacks are cruising seawalls in the ICW early in the morning. Munyon Island and the Home Sound Flats are beginning to come to life with cooler water temps. Mostly jacks and ladyfish now, but a few spotted sea trout are starting to filter in as well. SURF/PIER- Surf fishing continues to be very good. Lots of Spanish Mackerel around, including some really nice ones. Lots of good lure options for the Macs right now including; Gotcha plugs, X-Raps, Spoons, Diamond Jigs, and the bobber rig with a Clark Spoon. All those lures are also effective for the large numbers of bluefish that are around. Scattering of pompano around; with the pomps biting on a day to day basis. One day it's a hot bite on the pomps, the next they are nowhere to be found. Still a few snook mixed in with all of the fall species surprisingly, as well as some redfish. Good action, well worth going if you have a chance! NOAA MARINE WEATHER- FRIDAY...Along the coast, northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. In the Gulf Stream, northeast winds 5 to 10 knots becoming 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Period 9 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. SATURDAY...East northeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet along the coast and 6 to 8 feet with occasional to 10 feet in the Gulf Stream. Period 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A chance of showers. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. SUNDAY...East northeast winds 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots. Seas 7 to 9 feet with occasional seas to 13 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Sailfish season is now upon us! The first few fronts of the season have blown past and the release flags are getting some fresh air flown over them again. Most boats flying gogs and runners under the kite(s) are getting at least a few chances a day on the sails. If you can track down any smaller baits(pilchards, sardines, or even finger mullet) keep them on the flatlines for good action as well. In addition to the sails; the dolphin, kingfish, and occasional blackfin tuna are around to pick up a flatlined live bait. The dolphin fishing was good this week as well in 300-500' of water. The dolphin are still stuck to scattered floating debris. Trolling ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid is a good way to go for the dolphin. The kingfish, and maybe a wahoo or two, remain scattered out along the 120' ledge from the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet. Bottom fishing remains excellent with lots of snapper and grouper still being caught in 90-120' of water. Sardines remain the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE: Snook fishing was good again this week around area bridges at night, and along seawalls and boat docks during the day. The shrimp jig is becoming a big player at the bridges at night; but the snook are still willing to bite a big swimbait or flair hawk jig as well. The jacks are cruising the ICW a little bit, and have been hanging around Palm Beach Inlet in fair numbers. The bridges are starting to produce some sheepshead and black drum during the day on fresh cut shrimp. SURF/PIER: GREAT Surf fishing right now. All of the fall/winter species are around; and have been biting well. Pompano fishing along the beach and on the Juno Beach Pier has been great as far as early season results go. Sandfleas, clams, and Doc's Goofy jigs are the bait/lure of choice for the pompano. Spanish Mackerel (including some JUMBO sized ones!) action has been red hot on the Juno Beach Pier. Gotcha Plugs, Rapala X-Raps, crappie jig, and bobber rig with a clark spoon have all been hot for the macs. Bluefish are biting silver spoons and cute bait well along the beach. Lots of good action right now along the beach...well worth going if you can; and the weather report/conditions look good for it to stay good through the weekend. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...North northeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A slight chance of showers in the morning...then a chance of showers. SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT...Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of showers in the morning...then a chance of showers. SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT...East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers. .MONDAY...East northeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
