OFFSHORE: Mixed bag assortment of reports coming in this week from offshore. Dolphin fishing slowed way down; but a few fish are still being caught. No exact depth to report on the dolphin; as they have been caught from 100'-1200' this week with no real rhyme or reason why. Sailfish bite was fair this week; with quite a few boats randomly catching them on the troll or drifting. The moon is getting bigger and a few wahoo were caught this week. If conditions allow it could be a very good weekend for catching a wahoo. Kingfish bite was very day to day this week; as was the snapper fishing.
INSHORE: Snook season opens Friday...pretty much that all needs to be written! Snook fishing remains the best bet inshore right now. The bridges are holding fish at night, as are certain docks and seawalls in the Loxahatchee River and ICW. Look for the snook to be keyed in on bigger baits. The mullet aren't far away and the snook know it. Big baits like SpoolTek Swimbaits, Flair Hawk Jigs, and big swimming plugs are great bait choices to try and invite a slot size snook home for dinner. Look for the outgoing tide to produce best for the snook. Some big jacks also mixed in with the snook; as are a few tarpon. Other inshore action is a bit slow. It's all about the mullet showing up now; and when they do...GAME ON! SURF/PIER: Lots of good stuff going on at the Pier and along the beach right now. The big draw this weekend will no doubt be the snook; and for the most part they have not disappointed lately. A ground swell could slightly alter that this weekend; but hopefully it only helps fire them up a little more. Lots of bait along the beach (mostly pilchards with some mullet mixed in) attracting lots of other stuff as well. Fair number of spanish mackerel, jacks, and blue runners hanging around right now. The bobber rig and a small clark spoon is a great rig to throw on the beach right now for good mixed bag action. Lots of blacktop sharks hanging around as well. Should be pretty fishy at the beach and pier this weekend...well worth going if you have a chance! NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...SOUTH SOUTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET. DOMINANT PERIOD 9 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Dolphin fishing slowed a bit this week; but that was largely due to less than ideal weather conditions. South winds could help push some dolphin up; but hard to say just how the bite may be. Kingfish bite remains very good this week with a good number of fish from south of Juno Pier all the way up to Jupiter Inlet. Average size has been 5-10lbs on the kingfish; with a few bigger ones mixed in. Drifting dead sardines has been a pretty safe bet to get some kingfish bites. Snapper fishing remains pretty good out of Jupiter in 60-90' of water. The moon is starting to get bigger now...could be some really good wahoo fishing coming up on this next full moon!
INSHORE: One more week of catch and release snook fishing...GOOD catch and release snook fishing at that. Plenty of snook around and they are chewing pretty hard right now. A few trickles of mullet starting to show up; and that will also really help fire up the snook as well. The jacks are cruising around the ICW right now; including some solid size ones! Mangrove snapper are still biting around the bridges at night. SURF/PIER: Good fishing at the Juno Beach Pier right now! Catch and release snook fishing has been good, with some big fish still biting. Kingfish are making afternoon showings at the pier; and have been pretty willing to chomp a Shimano "ColtSniper". Spanish Mackerel, including some very big one, have also been biting at the pier. The bobber rig and small clark spoon or jig is a great choice for the mackerel right now. Good fishing right now; well worth going if you have a chance. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...South southwest winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers and thunderstorms. SATURDAY...South southwest winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Showers through the day. Thunderstorms in the afternoon. SUNDAY...West southwest winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Showers and thunderstorms likely. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Great dolphin fishing this week for northern Palm Beach County. Lots of dolphin, ranging from very small to ten pounds or so in size, starting at around 350' of water. Most of the dolphin are being caught around weediness and floating debris. Been a good amount of weeds around, so finding the fish hasn't been too hard. Trolling small ballyhoo, squid, or bonita strips to cover some water could produce a little better quality fish, while drifting along a weed line and chunking sardines has been producing good numbers of fish. The east/southeast wind should help keep the dolphin pushed in the 250-500' range...although the way this year has went fishing wise; who really knows! In a little closer the blackfin tuna are biting small trolling feathers in 200-250' of water. Kingfish action remains pretty good along the 120' ledge, with most of the biters coming on live or dead sardines. A few wahoo were caught, and barring any crazy weather changes (i.e....those suddenly very active tropics) the wahoo fishing will most likely get very good again in the coming weeks. All signs are pointing towards a good September moon wahoo bite. Snapper fishing remains pretty good along the bottom, with a mixture of yellowtail and mutton snapper making up the bulk of the catch.
INSHORE: Starting to hear a very hushed whisper of a school or two of finger mullet around...shouldn't be long before we are swamped with them! Snook fishing remains the best inshore bet right now. Most of the snook are being caught around the inlets and bridges; with some big fish also hanging around boat docks and seawalls as well. Look for lowlight periods of the day to be best for the snook, and don't be afraid to throw some big baits at them right now. They are in the eating frame of mind and will happily scarf down some large baits or lures. Mangrove snapper are biting around the bridges as well. Small pilchards and shrimp are the baits of choice for the snapper. Look for inshore fishing to improve drastically with the arrival of the finger mullet. SURF/PIER: Snook fishing remains very good along the beach, in the inlets, and at the Juno Beach Pier right now. Lowlight periods of the day are best, and the fish are hungry! The Juno Beach Pier has also been holding a good number of blue runners, some spanish and cero mackerel, as well as some bonita and king mackerel. The bobber rig and small spoon has been good for the runners and macs, while the "ColtSniper" from Shimano has been good for the bonita and kings. Small live pilchards on the flatline have also been good. Starting to hear of a few little schools of mullet trickling around...shouldn't be long before things really fire up along the beach! NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...SOUTHEAST WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS. SEAS AROUND 2 FEET. DOMINANT PERIOD 4 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AFTERNOON. SATURDAY...EAST SOUTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS AROUND 2 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY. SUNDAY...EAST SOUTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. SHOP UPDATES: Some very exciting news coming down the line very soon...stay tuned! Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: The backside of the full moon has been good for the wahoo. Solid wahoo catches over the past few days in 150-250' of water, with the best catches coming out of Lake Worth Inlet (Jupiter Inlet also has been producing some wahoo). Split tail mullet, horse ballyhoo, and big bonita strips have been getting bites, as have the always popular Yo-Zuri Bonita. Morning bite has been the best for the wahoo, but the afternoon bite is producing a few as well. The kingfish remain scattered along the 120' ledge and are biting well, especially in the late afternoon. The water was little cold early in the week, but conditions look to get ore back to normal in the next few days hopefully.
INSHORE: Catch and release snook fishing remains the best bet inshore right now. The snook are fired up around the bridges at night, and some big females can be sightcasted off seawalls early each morning in the river right now. The outgoing tide will produce best around the bridges, while low light periods are key for having any luck with the snook in the river. Large flair hawk style jigs, swim baits, and bigger live baits are all great choices for the snook right now. The mangrove snapper are biting around area bridges at night on small live pilchards and shrimp. Resident tarpon are popping live shrimp around dock lights at night in the ICW. SURF/PIER: Catch and release snook fishing remains the main game in town right now, and it has been good. Lowlight periods remain the best, but the snook will bite on an incoming tide as well. Small jigs, swimming plugs, and Vudu mullet are all good choices for the snook right now. The Juno Beach Pier has been good with lots of snook, a few kingfish, scattered cero mackerel, and a few tarpon all in the mix. The Shimano "Colt Sniper" Pug has been a hot lure choice o the pier over the past week or two. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...South southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. SATURDAY...East southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers in the morning. A slight chance of thunderstorms. A slight chance of showers in the afternoon. SUNDAY...East southeast winds around 5 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters smooth. A chance of showers in the morning. A slight chance of thunderstorms. A slight chance of showers in the afternoon. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Should be a pretty good weekend offshore. A little bit of southeast wind could really help the dolphin fishing; which seemed to slow just a bit this week. Southeast wind should help get their noses pointed towards us. Usual dolphin fishing drill should do the job...anybody's guess on what the best depth will be right now! The full moon is coming up next week; and that should hopefully mean a good wahoo bite this week. The June and July moons were both kind of disappointing; so hopefully August is a little better! Trolling bait has been more productive than high speed trolling so far this summer. A split tail mullet or horse ballyhoo pulled behind a trolling sinker or planer is a good way to go for the wahoo. Kingfish action has remained pretty good along the 120' ledge. Live sardines remain the bait of choice for the kings, with the best bite coming mainly late in the afternoon. Snapper fishing seems to remain day to day. Good reports from the Jupiter drift boats the last few days on the snapper; with a decent assortment of yellowtail and muttons around.
INSHORE: Snook fishing remains the main game in town on the inshore side of things. The bridges have been pretty good as of late, especially at night on the outgoing tide. Flair hawk jigs and big swim baits remain the top lure choices for the snook. The spillways are also producing a good number of snook and a few tarpon. A few mangrove snapper are being caught around the bridges as well. Best snapper bite seems to be on live shrimp and pilchards; mainly at night as well. SURF/PIER: Catch and release snook fishing remains very good at the Juno Beach Pier, along the beach, and in Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlets. Live sandperch and croakers will be the best live bait choices; especially for those looking for a big end of summer snook. Looks like the wind is going to blow just a little; if the forecast is right it could lead to some really good lure fishing for the snook. A little chop and some color in the water will have the snook ready to bite flair hawk style jigs, swimsuits, and swimming plugs. Lowlight conditions will be best for fooling the snook on the lures. The upcoming full moon could really fire them up at night as well. The Juno Beach Pier has had some bonita cruising around as well as a handful of kingfish. A Rapala X-Rap is a good lure choice for the kings and bonitas. Like the snook; best action on the kings will be early morning and late afternoon. Other surf action remains a bit spotty. Scattered schools of spanish mackerel around. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SATURDAY...Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY...East southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
