OFFSHORE- Summertime dolphin fishing remains fair to good depending on the day. As has been the case, the depth of the dolphin continues to bounce around all over the place; with reports coming from 300-1500' of water. Locating productive areas (defined weedlines, current rips, color changes, floating debris, etc...) will be huge in helping quicken the search. Wahoo fishing was good on the backside of the full moon, and should still be a fair number of fish around this weekend. KIngfish remain scattered up and down the 120' ledge. Snapper fishing remains very good on the bottom, with a good mixture of mutton and yellowtail being caught in 60-90' of water. Bonita remain around super thick, along with the sharks and massive blue runners.
INSHORE- Catch and release snook fishing remains the main stay on the inshore scene. The snook are largely in the inlets and surrounding areas. Of course there are always a few backcountry snook that don't leave if your looking to avoid the crowds. Hot weather doesn't really slow down the mangrove snapper bite inshore. Look for the bigger mangroves to be most active at night, especially around deeper bridges with a fair amount of current. Live shrimp and small live pilchards are top bait choices for the mangrove snapper. Surf/Pier- Seaweed continues to be a day to day problem along the beach, but the cleaner days are providing pretty good action for summertime standards. A scattering of pompano are being caught extremely early each morning north of Jupiter Inlet. Sandfleas, Clams, and FIshBItes have been the ticket for the predawn pomps. Mixed in with the pompano have been some croaker and big sandperch. They will bite a little longer into the morning as well. Catch and release snook fishing remains very good along the beach, at the Juno Beach Pier, and in Jupiter and Palm Beach Inlets. FLair Hawk Jigs and big swimbaits are the ticket in the dark, while live croakers and sandperch are your best bet during the daylight hours. Rumor has it a few schools of mullet are being spotted north of Sebastin Inlet...another month or so and should be on here! NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...South southeast winds around 5 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters smooth. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning, then chance of showers in the afternoon. SATURDAY...East southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Chance of showers. Slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. SUNDAY...East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Dolphin fishing was a bit off this week, with no defined pattern for them. Reports of dolphin, mostly smaller fish, have been coming from 100' to 1200' of water. Try to find good defined weedlines and/or large floating debris for best luck on the dolphin. This SHOULD be a great weekend for wahoo fishing. The full moon is on Tuesday and the wahoo should be around. If the seaweed isn't too bad high speed trolling or trolling a split tail mullet on a planer will be a great choice; especially early and late in the day. Look for the wahoo to be in 100-200' of water during low light periods of the day, and out deeper when the sun is up a little higher. 250-350' is a good depth to look for wahoo when the sun is up a bit higher. Kingfish action has been good this week along the 120' ledge. Snapper fishing was good again this week. Lots of bonita and sharks (along with other species mixed in) along the 120' ledge from the Juno Beach Pier up to Jupiter Inlet.
SURF/PIER/INSHORE- (Combined report this week for a bit different look...) Catch and release snook fishing has been very good over the past week, especially on the days that the seaweed is not too bad along the beach. The snook have been cruising the beaches, are hanging at the Juno Beach Pier in good numbers, and are also stacked up in both Jupiter and Palm Beach Inlets in good numbers. Each area has a slightly different tactic/bait for the snook so be sure to swing by the shop and we can get you dialed in on any of them. The resident backwater snook have also been biting well. The Jupiter Spillway opened briefly this week and the snook were snapping while it was open. Scattered mangrove snapper reports coming in, but no great numbers to speak of. A nice summertime swell would be really nice to help push the snapper inshore for us. A few resident summertime pompano have been caught this week north of Jupiter Inlet. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...South southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Slight chance of showers. SATURDAY...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. SUNDAY...East southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd Happy July 4th Everyone! Open till 3pm on 7/4
OFFSHORE- Fair dolphin fishing again this week, with scattered reports coming in from 120-1500' of water. Finding good floating debris, well formed weedlines, large areas of flying fish, or hard current rips has been the key to finding the dolphin. Trolling ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid has been productive; just try and locate some fishy looking signs before you put them out. A wahoo report or two has trickled in, and the moon is going to start getting bigger...it's about time! Definitely not a bad idea to keep a bait down deep while dolphin trolling these days. Lots of live in and around the 120' ledge right now. A bulk of it will be bonita and sharks, but they draw a lot of life to the party as well. Kingfish, dolphin, blackfin tuna, wahoo, and a whole host of others will be mixed in with the bonita from 100-160' of water. Bottom fishing remains very good with some solid mutton and yellowtail snapper reports coming in. Sardines remain the top bait choice. INSHORE- A decent number of jacks around in the ICW and Loxahatchee River right now. Live mullet along a seawall or boat dock is a solid choice for them, and an backcountry resident snook as well. Catch and release snook fishing remains good inshore, but a bulk of the fish are in the inlets and along the beach currently. Mangrove snapper reports are decent at night, with live shrimp and small pilchards being top bait choices. SURF/PIER- Snook fishing (the catch and release style...) is the main game in town right now. The Juno Beach Pier has had a great snook bite, as has Jupiter Inlet. In both places a live croaker is going to be the top bait. At night the snook are biting flair hawk jigs and swimbaits well. Decent number of croakers and big sandperch are biting small pieces of shrimp in the the first trough. Still some schools of tarpon roaming the beaches as well. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...Southeast winds around 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Showers likely in the morning. Chance of thunderstorms. Chance of showers. SATURDAY...South southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. SUNDAY...South winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
