OFFSHORE- Dolphin reports were good this week, with a lot of fish coming in 500-700' of water. Most of the fish have been averaging 5-8lbs; with a few bigger fish in the mix. Trolling bonita strips and squid has been a pretty safe bet for the dolphin. The blackfin tuna are still hanging around in fair numbers in 200-300' of water. With the moon getting bigger this weekend, expect the wahoo action to pick up. High speeding for the wahoo along the 120' ledge early and late in the day will be a good way to target the wahoo. As the sun comes up more push out a little deeper and get the baits down below the surface. Trolling a Nomad DTX minnow in the spread always gets you a chance at the wahoo. KIngfish remain in good numbers along the 120' ledge, along with plenty of bonita. Snapper fishing has been good this week. Look for the best action in around 90' of water, with sardines being the top bait choice.
INSHORE- Inshore fishing is a bit tough now; with hot temps slowing the fish down for the most part. Catch and release snook fishing will be the main inshore draw. Go early and late for best luck inshore right now, or fish at night. Could also be some tarpon cruising around inshore right now. Mangrove snapper action has been fair inshore. SURF/PIER- The glass minnow schools remain scattered up and down the beach, and the fish aren't far behind. Snook, tarpon, jacks, blue runners, and others are all taking advantage of the easy meals. Small flashy jigs, spoons, swimbaits, and small swimming plugs are all a good way to go around the minnow schools. The Juno Beach Pier continues to produce good catch and release snook action, as does Jupiter Inlet. The snook are also along the beach in very good numbers right now. Calm clear conditions provide for good chance to sight fish some big ones cruising in the first trough. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...East winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SATURDAY...East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers in the afternoon. SUNDAY...East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: A fair mixture of offshore reports this week. Dolphin fishing was fair for some, not so great for others. Best bet for the dolphin is to start running and don't stop till you seem something that looks good outside of 400' of water. Well defined weedlines, floating debris, rips, or and color changes will all be good spots to start the search. Blackfin Tuna are still around in good numbers from 200-300' of water. Mixed in with the blackfin have been a good number of summertime sailfish. Look for the sailfish to be a bit deeper; and while they may come up for a kite bait, don't overlook putting a bait down a bit deeper for them. Kingfish are on the 120' ledge in good numbers. Get a live bait down 10-15' below the surface for best chance at the kingfish. Snapper fishing has been very good this week. Good reports of red grouper, mutton snapper, yellowtail snapper, and some very good size mangroves around. Sardines will be the top bait choice on the bottom.
INSHORE: Snook fishing has been pretty good inshore. Pretty standard summertime pattern on the snook. If the spillways are open look for them to be close by. Otherwise they will be around the bridges and close to the inlets. Look for the usual lures to produce on the snook (stick to Flare Hawks, big Swimbaits, and similar for good results). Smaller snook have been on the docklights pretty good. Vudu and DOA Shrimp are great lures when fishing around the docklights. Other inshore action is a bit on the slow side. A few scattered tarpon reports, and a scattering of jacks around. No reports to speak of lately on the snapper inshore. SURF/PIER: The past few days has saw the water from Jupiter Inlet south looking pretty dirty and brown (Lots of fresh water in it). Water to the north of Jupiter Inlet has looked better and the fish have noticed. While the Juno Beach Pier has still been producing some Spanish Mackerel, jacks, and fair amount of snook. The bulk of the action has moved up to the north. Jupiter Island and Hobe Sound beaches have had a lot of very large glass minnow schools, and lots of predators close behind. Bonita, jacks, snook, tarpon, and even a few random late season bluefish have all been in the minnow schools up to the north. A small flashy jig or spoon, small swimbait, or swimming plug are all good choices for fishing around the minnow schools. Pompano reports slowed this week, but sounds like a handful of them are still being caught up to the north. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to southeast 5 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers likely in the morning. Chance of thunderstorms. Showers in the afternoon. SATURDAY...East southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Showers likely and slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning, then chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. SUNDAY...East southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Dolphin reports remain scattered from 400-1000' of water. It's a run and gun deal so be prepared to go looking for them. Full summertime pattern so don't stop until you find a good color change, weedline, rip, debris, or some other fishy looking sign. Still a good number of Blackfin Tuna around in 200-300' of water. Kingfish action remains good along the 120' ledge. Live sardines, pilchards, or threadfis will be the way to go for the kings. Snapper fishing has been very good along the bottom. Some very nice mutton, mangrove, and yellowtail snapper all being reported. Sardines remain the bait of choice for the snapper.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains the main game in town (as usual!). The Spillways have been holding a good number of snook, as have the bridges. Look for some tarpon to be in and around the spillways as well. Scattered reports of some mangrove snapper inshore. Other inshore action remains slow. SURF/PIER- Catch and release snook fishing remains very good along the beach, in the Inlets, and at the Juno Beach Pier. Live sandperch and croakers remain the top bait for targeting big fish. At night Flair Hawk Jigs, SpoolTek's, and bigger swimbaits will be a good way to go for the snook. Scattering of Spanish Mackerel along the beach. Tarpon have also been pushing along the beach. Still been some late season pompano being caught north of Jupiter Inlet. Fishbites, Sandfleas, and clams are the way to go for the pomps. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...East northeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of showers in the morning. Slight chance of thunderstorms. Slight chance of showers in the afternoon. SATURDAY...East winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms. SUNDAY...East southeast winds around 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Showers and chance of thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Weather this week has kept reports (and fishing pressure) for the most part to a minimum this week. Sailfish action (a bit deeper than the usual winter time hangouts of 120-200) in 200-300' of water was good again this week with quite a few fish around. Blackfin tuna, including some good size ones still, were around in the same 200-300' depth range. Live baits fished 15-20' below the surface are the way to go for the bigger Blackfins. Coming up on the full moon this weekend...should be some wahoo around. Hopefully all this weather doesn't mess up the water quality too much and the hoo's snap a bit! Dolphin fishing remains hit or miss at best. Kingfish action in along the 120' ledge remains pretty good, with some solid size fish around. Snapper fishing was fair again this week, with a few cobia still being caught on the bottom as well.
INSHORE- Snook fishing at the Spillways has been very good this week. Don't forget we're in June already...they all have to go back for a few more months. Flair Hawk jigs, Swimbaits, and swimming plugs have all been good choices for the snook at the spillways currently. Still a few tarpon around inshore, as well as a few jacks. Other inshore action has been a bit slow. SURF/PIER- Still a surprisingly good bite from some late season pompano over the past week. Sandfleas and FishBItes remain the bait of choice for the pompano. Look for the early morning and late afternoon to be best. Spanish Mackerel are still being caught at the Juno Beach Pier, with white crappie jigs being the lure of choice for them. Catch and release snook fishing remains very good at the Juno Beach Pier and in the Inlets. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Showers likely. Chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. SATURDAY...Southeast winds around 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of showers through the day. Slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. SUNDAY...South southeast winds around 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
