OFFSHORE- Rough weather has kept reports to a minimum, but conditions look really good for the next few days! Sailfish numbers are beginning to increase, and will be the main predators hanging out in 120-200' of water these days. Dolphin fishing has been pretty good in 200' of water out of Palm Beach Inlet. Scattered kingfish along the edge, along with a stray wahoo or two. Snapper reports were slow with less than ideal water conditions along the reef, but hopefully that changes too with some nicer weather this weekend.
INSHORE- Still a little time to invite a snook home for dinner before the season closes. The shrimp jig bite at the bridges has really started to fire up over the past week. Look for outgoing tide to be the most productive. Other wintertime species (Sheepshead and Black Drum primarily) are beginning to show up inshore in fair numbers. Hard to beat live shrimp for them. SURF/PIER- Conditions look right for the surf fishing to go off this weekend. Reports over the past week have been slow due to dirty water and rough conditions. The small window of nicer conditions earlier in the week (Largely a few hours of cleaner water) saw a decent little pompano bite, along with a fair number of Spanish Mackerel. Expect a good number of bluefish, Spanish Macs, and Pompano to be around. The blacktip sharks should also be in the mix. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...East northeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. FRIDAY NIGHT...East winds 10 knots along the coast to east northeast 5 to 10 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas around 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SATURDAY...East northeast winds around 5 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters smooth. SATURDAY NIGHT...East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SUNDAY...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers in the afternoon. SHOP UPDATE: Some good Black Friday deals and also a Small Business Saturday Special...swing by and check them out! Thanks For Reading, Todd Offshore- No reports offshore to speak of this week. A handful of dolphin around, along with some sailfish for the few that did make it out this week. Those willing to tough it out this weekend could find a decent little sailfish bite going on. Water quality will be key...find some good water and and the sails won't be far behind.
Inshore- Snook fishing remains very good inshore these days. During the day the snook are keyed in on mullet along seawalls and around boat docks. At night the snook are biting well around the bridges. The shrimp jig and flair hawk have both been producing solid results. With the water being on the dirty side both incoming and outgoing tide are producing good snook bites. Starting to see some more winter species showing up inshore. Sheepshead, black drum, and other assorted stuff are starting to fill in. Live shrimp will be the bait of choice. Surf/Pier- Tough surf/pier fishing this week. Water has been on the dirty side and the surf has been up...tough combo. A few scattered bluefish around for those toughing it out. No pompano reports to speak of, but hopefully a little north wind will help improve that. Just not a lot to write about this week...hoping for a change soon! NOAA MARINE WEATHER- FRIDAY...East northeast winds around 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots. Seas 6 to 8 feet with occasional seas to 10 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Slight chance of showers. SATURDAY...East northeast winds around 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots. Seas 5 to 7 feet with occasional seas to 9 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Slight chance of showers in the morning, then chance of showers in the afternoon. SUNDAY...Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Slight chance of showers. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Well...it finally looks like a little more fishable weather this weekend. Reports have been almost non-existent over the past week, which I'm sure comes to the surprise of well...no one! Weather has not been on our side, but fingers crossed it's not looking too bad now. Sailfish bite continues to pick up, and we should see the numbers continue to rise from here on out. Little on the lighter side wind wise this weekend, but should still be enough to get the kites up. As usual live goggle eyes and blue runners will be top baits. Threadfin and mullet are also good bait options. Dolphin, the better size winter ones, will also be mixed in with the sails in 150-250' of water. With no reports to speak of, it's hard to guess where the main body of fish will be; but the pier to Jupiter Inlet or up towards the Loran Tower in Hobe Sound are good options. Should be some kingfish scattered along the 120' ledge, along with a wahoo or two maybe. Bottom fishing could be really good. Following a storm like this the snapper and grouper will sometimes chew heavy, here's hoping it happens this weekend!
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains the best bet, and with season starting to wind down (only about a month left) now is a great time to go. The spillways have been holding a good number of fish, as have some of the bridges. The flair hawk bite remains strong, and the shrimp jig bite is gaining steam as well. Look for the snook to bite best on the first part of the outgoing tide. Sheepshead and black drum reports are staring to come in a little bit; sure sign we are changing seasons. Live shrimp on a small jighead is a good way to go. Look for docks with a little deeper water around them to be the best bet. Flats action is slowly starting to come to life with some dropping water temps. A few trout and even a redfish or two are around up on the Hobe Sound Flats. SURF/PIER- Finally some little nicer conditions for the surf this weekend. The big news this week was a nice bite of snapper at the Juno Beach Pier (thanks to late season storm). Doubtful that the snapper bite is on fire into the weekend at the pier, but should still be a few around. Sardines and live shrimp have been the bait of choice for the snapper. Bluefish are around in pretty good numbers. Large popping plugs, GT Ice Cream lures, and silver spoons have all been good lure choices on the bluefish. Pompano reports are a bit slim, but would expect to see some around. The blacktip sharks are around in pretty good numbers as well. The blacktips are a lot of fun from the beach, especially on lighter tackle. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...West winds 10 knots becoming north. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers. SATURDAY...East southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of showers. SUNDAY...East southeast winds around 10 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- No real reports from the weekend due to poor weather and wind; and not looking like much of a weekend for a trip offshore. The few people that have managed to sneak out are finding a fair number of sailfish around. The sailfish have been in the usual 150-250' of water, with the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet being a great stretch to start the search for the sailfish. Goggle eyes or blue runners under the kite are a sure fire bet for the sailfish. It's getting into the time of year where the bigger dolphin should start to mix in with the sailfish. Kingfish remain scattered along the 120' ledge, with a wahoo or two in the mix as well.
INSHORE- Snook fishing has been pretty good this week inshore. The last of the mullet are rolling through, and the snook have been taking advantage of the end of season buffet. Look for the spillways to be open this weekend, and the snook should be around. Flairhawks and SpoolTek swimbaits will be a great choice at the spillways. Some of the snook have also started to switch to the winter time pattern...in other words get your shrimp jigs ready for the bridge. Lots of nice fresh poured shrimp jigs in-stock at the moment; get them while the pickings are good. Other inshore fishing has began to pick up. Slight drops in air/water temps have the fish moving around better on the flats. Won't be long before the sheepshead and black drum will be showing up in pretty good numbers inshore. SURF/PIER- Looks like a blowout this weekend on the surf/pier side of things this weekend. The water had been holding out and looking pretty good this week, but over the last few days has went muddy and pretty much shut down everything. Bluefish action has been pretty good overall, although that shut down over the past few days. Needs to calm back down a little before we see any real change in the surf fishing. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...East northeast winds 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Light showers likely and slight chance of thunderstorms. . SATURDAY...East winds around 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Showers and chance of thunderstorms. SUNDAY...East winds 20 to 30 knots with gusts to around 40 knots. Seas 7 to 9 feet with occasional seas to 11 feet. Intracoastal waters very rough in exposed areas. Showers and chance of thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
