OFFSHORE: Dolphin fishing remains a way offshore hit or miss deal. Seems like the average is one in three boats that runs out seems to find them. Look for the dolphin somewhere outside of 1000' of water for the most part. The usual dolphin signs (weediness, bait, rips, color changes, floating debris) are the keys to finding the dolphin. In a little closer blackfin tuna action remains good in 200-300' of water. Summertime sailfish are eating live baits in 300-500' of water in decent numbers. Kingfish action remains very good up and down the 120' ledge. Live sardines are still the top bait choice for the kings. Bonita are also still around in huge numbers. Mixed in with the bonita will be plenty of sharks, a few wahoo, and maybe a cobia our two. Snapper action remains good along the bottom in 60-80' of water. Sardines are the bait of choice for the snapper right now.
INSHORE: Catch and release snook fishing remains good in the ICW and Loxahatchee River right now. The bridges are also producing good number of snook at night. Look for the outgoing tide to produce the most snook bites. Spillway snook bite has also been very good as of late. Flair hawk jigs and spooltek swim baits are both good choices for the snook at the bridges and spillways. Scattering of mangrove snapper around inshore right now. Small live pilchards and live shrimp are the bait of choice for the snapper right now. Like the snook, look for the snapper to bite best at night on the outgoing tide. Other inshore action remains a bit spotty. Look for things to turn around drastically in a few weeks with the arrival of the first schools of finger mullet. SURF/PIER: Catch and release snook fishing remains the best game in town right now. The snook are spread out along the beach in good numbers, schooling in the inlet, and stacked up at the Juno Beach Pier. The snook will bite flair hawk style jigs, big swim baits, and swimming plugs at night or during low light periods of the day. Once the sun starts to get up a little higher up it's much better to switch over to live baits. Live croakers and sand perch are the top bait choice for the snook right now (especially for the bigger fish!). Scattered mackerel around right now, but not in big numbers. Bonita and a few kingfish are being caught off the end of the Juno Beach Pier. Rapala X-Raps and diamond jigs are a good choice for the kings and bonies. Mixed bag of croakers and sand perch in the first trough. Small pieces of fresh shrimp are the bait of choice for them. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...South winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. SATURDAY...South southwest winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to south southwest 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. SUNDAY...Southwest winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Dolphin fishing remained good for some (and very lousy for others) making the run way offshore. Best bet on the dolphin seems to be to start toking outside of 1000' of water. The usual dolphin signs (weeds, birds, bait) are the best bet. The summer sailfish bite has been very good in 250-500' of water. No need for kites this time of year. A good assortment of flatlines is all you need to find some sailfish. Put a bait or two down deep for the roaming wahoo or big blackfin tuna that may be around in the same depths. Kingfish action remains good in along the 120' ledge. Snapper fishing has been very good this week on the bottom. Sardines are the bait of choice right now (Note...We have lots of good sardines in the shop right now.)
INSHORE: Catch and release snook fishing remains red hot right now. Look for the spillways to be good after heavy rains; while the bridges have been producing good at night on the outgoing tide. SpoolTek and flair hawk jigs have been a good choice for the snook. Live shrimp and small live pilchards are a good bait choice for the snapper right now inshore. Other action inshore has been kind of slow due to the hot weather. Mangrove snapper have been biting around the bridges at night. SURF/PIER: The catch and release snook fishing is absolutely on fire right now. Good numbers of snook in the Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlet, along the beach, and at the Juno Beach Fishing Pier right now. Best action on the snook will be first thing in the morning and late in the afternoon. Live croakers and sand perch will be the best live bait choice; while big swimbaits and soft plastics seem to be getting the nod on the artificial side of things. A fair number of the tarpon are still around. Most of the tarpon can be found pushing north along the beach; especially early in the morning. Good action on small Cero and Spanish mackerel at the Juno Beach Pier right now. The mackerel seem to be responding best to flatlined small live baits right now. A few mangrove snapper are being caught around the Juno Beach Pier and Jupiter Inlet jetty early in the morning. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...South winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to south 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas around 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Showers and thunderstorms likely. SATURDAY...South winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. SUNDAY...South southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd Editor's Note...Not the best report we've eve wrote...the boss got to sneak away for a little vacation this week. He's working on getting back into the swing of things and promised a updated report soon...
OFFSHORE: Dolphin bite pushed way offshore this week. While a few have been picked off a little shallower; best dolphin bite seems to be outside of 700' of water. Trolling ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid have all been effective for the dolphin. Kingfish bite has been good with fair number of fish around in 100-120' of water. Inshore: Good catch and release snook fishing again this week. The bridges continue to produce well, as do Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlet. Scattered reports off some mangrove snapper around. Other inshore action remains a bit spotty. Surf/Pier: Catch and release snook fishing remains the main game in town right now. Sandperch and a few croakers are biting in the first trough Strong east winds actually pushed a few summertime pompano around. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...East winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. SATURDAY...East winds around 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. SUNDAY...East southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Dolphin fishing remains good; just have to go looking for them. The mahi-mahi bite has bounced all over the place depth wise, and this week was no different. Dolphin reports came in from 150-1500' of water; but east winds the last few days should help blow them in a little closer. Trolling ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid has been the best bet for the dolphin. Small jet-head style lures that can be pulled a little quicker to cover more water are also effective for the dolphin. Keep the pitch rods and chunk baits ready. For the most part the dolphin are schooled up in fair numbers; more than likely a hooked fish has some close by. The full moon will have the wahoo crowd out in full force. A few wahoo have been caught this week; and it should be ideal conditions for wahoo trolling this weekend. Look for the high speed bite to be good early in the morning in 100-250' of water. Dark color lures will be the ticket in low light conditions. If high speed trolling is not your thing; a split tail mullet is as good (or maybe better) alternative. Fish the mullet (or horse ballyhoo) behind a planer or inline trolling sinker. A black/red or black/purple skirt ilander is not a bad idea to add on to a mullet either. As the sun gets up a little higher look for the wahoo to bite better in 200-400' of water. Low light conditions are best for the wahoo; and if your near a inlet try and fish around the outgoing tide. Kingfish are scattered up and down the 120' ledge. Size has varied from day to day with one day producing snake kings and the next day all the fish are over twenty pounds. Live sardines remain the bait of choice for the kings. Snapper fishing remains day to day. With the full moon; look for the snapper to bite best at night.
INSHORE: Catch and release snook fishing remains the main game in town on the inshore side of things right now. Most of the snook are in or around the inlets right now. Bridges near the inlets are a great option right now; especially on outgoing tide. Flair hawks, big swim baits, and large live baits are the ticket for getting the biggest bites right now. Mangrove snapper are also hanging around area bridges at night. Live shrimp and small pilchards are top baits for the mangroves right now. Other inshore action is a bit slow. Look for all inshore fishing to be best during low light periods of the day or even at night. SURF/PIER: Great snook fishing along the beach, in the inlets, and on Juno Beach Pier right now. Live sand perch and croakers are the baits of choice right now. Look for the snook to be most active early and late in the day. Surf anglers will find luck throwing plugs before the sun comes up. Large swim baits (like the holy pro paddle tail or Spooltek) are good choices to throw in the dark. Still some tarpon moving along the surf, as well as some good size jacks. Sandperch are in the surf in fair numbers, with small pieces of fresh shrimp being the bait of choice for them. Definitely try and get out early or late in the day for best results. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning...then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. SATURDAY...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...East winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
