PSA...Take a look at the weather before planning any fishing trips this weekend...
OFFSHORE- WELL...Not looking like the ideal weekend for a trip offshore this weekend. Fairly standard offshore pattern early in the week. A scattering of dolphin around, with most being on the smaller side. Fairly good kingfish bite along the 120' ledge this week. Sardines remain the bait of choice for the kings. Weather isn't going to allow for good chance this weekend most likely...but is the ideal time (moon nearing full) to try for a wahoo. Bottom fishing has been fair this week. INSHORE- Could be a great snook fishing weekend on the inshore side of things. Look for the spillways to possibly go off this weekend. Flair Hawks, Swimbaits, and swimming plugs are all good options at the spillways (lure size and weights depend heavily on how much the spillways are open). The weather could also fire a up a solid snook bite in the Loxahatchee River. It's still a bit on the early side, but wouldn't be surprised to see a few finger mullet show up this weekend. Could be some big jacks, as well as a few tarpon around inshore. SURF/PIER- Snook fishing has been good along the beach; but conditions this weekend will make that shall we say a little rough. The Juno Beach Pier snook bite could go off this weekend depending on how the storm comes by. Snook bite could go off on jigs and swimbaits. The Spanish Mackerel bite has been good this week. Freelining small live baits or the bobber rig have been the way to go for the Macs. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...East northeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 25 knots along the coast to east northeast 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. SATURDAY... Tropical storm conditions possible. Along the coast, northeast winds 15 to 20 knots becoming north northwest 55 to 60 knots in the afternoon, Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet building to 10 to 12 feet with occasional seas to 15 feet in the afternoon. In the Gulf Stream, north northeast winds 35 to 40 knots becoming northwest 55 to 60 knots in the afternoon, Seas 7 to 9 feet with occasional seas to 11 feet building to 14 to 17 feet with occasional seas to 20 feet in the afternoon. Gusts up to 80 knots. Intracoastal waters extremely rough in exposed areas. Showers likely and chance of thunderstorms. SUNDAY...South winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Along the coast, seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. In the Gulf Stream, seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet subsiding to 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet in the afternoon. North northwest swell around 3 feet in the morning. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Bumpy conditions offshore kept reports a bit slim this week. A handful of scattered dolphin around, but no big numbers to speak of. Most of the dolphin seem to be coming in 300-600' of water; but with no super defined pattern to speak of. Large amounts of broken up seaweed has further complicated things. Dolphin have been on the smaller side for the most part. Lots of life around the 120' ledge right now. Bonito, King Mackerel, Blue Runners, sharks, and more are all around. Setting up a drift in about 120-150' (with a little chum) is a sure fire way to get some action going offshore. Drifting with some sardines (up near the surface, and suspended below as well) will definitely keep the rods bent. The moon is starting to get bigger, so could be some wahoo around this weekend. Snapper fishing remained good this week. Best bet bait wise is going to be sardines and bonita chunks.
INSHORE- The change in weather (some actual wind) has the inshore snook bite going pretty good. Look for the snook to be in the Loxhatchee River in good numbers. Live mullet, pilchards, and threadfins are all good baits to try and get the snook biting. Wind blown points, docks, and seawalls are all good spots. Try to time it with a moving tide for best results. Been a few good bruiser jacks cruising the seawalls as well. THe snook are biting at the spillways and bridges as well. Flair Hawks, SpoolTek's, and other bigger swimbaits are solid choices to throw at the snook right now. Inshore bite on the mangrove snapper improved as well this week. SURF/PIER- Rough conditions (by summertime standards) and lots of seaweed had the surf bite a little tough this week. Those willing to fight through the weeds found a decent snook bite. The snook are in both Jupiter and Palm Beach Inlets in good numbers. The Juno Beach Pier has had good snok action, with a handful of tarpon around as well. Good number of Spanish Mackerel around the pier over the past few days. The bobber rig or crappie jig have been the best bets for the macs. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...East southeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Chance of showers. Chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. SATURDAY...East southeast winds around 15 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. SUNDAY...Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of showers in the morning. Chance of thunderstorms . Showers likely in the afternoon. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Spotty dolphin fishing again, with most fish coming in 500-1000' of water. Most of the fish have been on the smaller side, with a few decent ones in the mix. Look for the dolphin to be around weedlines, floating debris, and areas with lots of bait. Still a blue marlin or two hanging around those little dolphin when you find them. In along the 120' ledge action is pretty hot. Lots of kingfish, bonita, sharks, and a few wahoo around. Bottom fishing was very good this week, with some solid mutton snapper catches coming in. INSHORE- Main game in town will be catch and release snook fishing on the inshore side of things. With super warm temps the fish are not super active right now. Fish early in the morning or late in the afternoon for best luck. Mixed in with the snook have been a handful of tarpon and jacks. A handful of mangrove snapper around, but no real numbers. SURF/PIER- Catch ad release snook fishing remains Overall its tough fishing inshore right now. very good along the beach, at the Juno Beach Pier, and in both Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlet right now. Lots of different (from heavy tackle live bait battles, light tackle sight fishing, and plenty of ways in between) ways to catch them right now, so feel free to come by the shop and get the rundown on some of your different options. Look for the snook to be most active early in the morning, late afternoon, or at night. If yoyu have to fish during the day, try and time it with the last of the incoming or first of the outgoing tide. The surf has been producing a few big jacks early in the morning, but not huge numbers of them. Still a fair number of tarpon around, but not as many as they are seeing up north. Fair number of croaker and sandperch hanging around in the first trough. Scattering of Spanish Mackerel around over the past week. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: Friday...East Winds Around 15 Knots With Gusts To Around 20 Knots. Seas 2 To 3 Feet. Period 5 Seconds. Intracoastal Waters A Moderate Chop. Showers Likely And Chance Of Thunderstorms. Saturday...East Winds Around 15 Knots With Gusts To Around 25 Knots. Seas 2 To 4 Feet With Occasional Seas To 5 Feet. Intracoastal Waters A Moderate Chop. Showers Likely And Chance Of Thunderstorms. Sunday...East Winds Around 15 Knots With Gusts To Around 20 Knots. Seas 2 To 3 Feet. Intracoastal Waters A Moderate Chop. Showers Likely And Chance Of Thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Dolphin reports remained a bit hit or miss this week. The depth range for the dolphin caught bounced from 150' to 1500' of water with no real rhyme or reason for any of the catches. For the most part the dolphin have been on the smaller side, with a surprise bigger fish or two in the mix. The side note to the smaller dolphin is they are the preffered diet of blue marlin, and there has been a few of the blue ones around this week. Primarily outside of 500' of water for the marlin. Wahoo reports have been a bit disappointing on the backside of the moon, but a few are being caught in 120-200' of water. Conditions do look good to give the wahoo a shot this weekend. Summer sailfish action remains good in 250-400' of water north of Jupiter Inlet. Kingfish action has remained good along the 120' ledge late in the afternoon and into the night. Snapper reports remain fair to good this week for the most part.
INSHORE- Catch and release snook fishing will remain the best bet on the inshore side of things. With high air and water temps try fishing very early or late in the day for best results. The snook will be around the bridges at night, especially those close to the inlets. The inlets are no doubt the best bet right now for finding the snook. Mangrove snapper action has been fair inshore. Live shrimp (If you can find them) or small pilchards are a great bait option for the mangrove snapper. SURF/PIER- The main game in town right now along the beach and at the pier will be snook. For the most part live croakers and sandperch will be the best bet for the snook (especially the bigger ones). Don't overlook a chunk of dead bait as an option for the snook as well. If your into throwing lures for the snook a small paddletail or bucktail jig is good during the day. At night throw bigger swimbaits and flair hawk jigs for best results. North of Jupiter Inlet the tarpon are still around in good numbers. They are still hanging around the minnow schools for the most part and remain locked on smaller baits. Hogy paddletails remain a great lure choice around the minnow schools. A handful of Spanish Mackerel around, as well as good numbers of blue runners in the surf as well. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: Friday West winds 5 to 10 knots becoming south southwest 5 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots in the afternoon. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 9 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers. Chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Saturday South southwest winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning, then showers likely and chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Sunday South southwest winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Dolphin fishing was a little hit or miss this week; but still a few reports coming in. Depths for the dolphin bounced all over the place; with some being caught in a 100' and others in 1300'. No big dolphin to report, but still a few decent size ones mixed in with the schoolies. This should be a really good weekend for wahoo fishing. The full moon is on Sunday, weather conditions look nice, water quality has been good, and plenty of bait around for the wahoo to eat. Look for the wahoo to be in 120-150' of water early and late in the day; and a little deeper (200-300') when the sun is up a little higher. High speed trolling with a Cowbell or Yo-Zuri Bonita is a good option early or late in the day. When the sun gets up a little higher try sliding out a little deeper and get the baits down. A split tail mullet behind a planer or trolling sinker is a good idea; as is a Nomad DTX minnow. In on the edge the kingfish and bonita have been around in good numbers. The kingfish bite has been best at night with the moon, but they are still biting a little during the day as well. Snapper fishing remained good this week. Some good size mutton snapper around , along with some big yellowtail as well. Should be a really nice weekend offshore...just be ready for a crowd!
INSHORE- Catch and release snook fishing remains the best bet on the inshore side of things. Fish early and late for best luck with the snook. Look for the snook to be closer to the inlets for the most part. The spillway bite has been slow with no rain to speak of. SURF/PIER- Juno Beach Pier and local beaches closed this weekend. Not much in the way of access this weekend on the beach. Still some good schools of minnows along the beach up and down. Tarpon, jacks, and snook have all been around the minnow schools. Some sharks in the mix as well. Should be good snook fishing on the backside of the full moon when the beach opens back up Monday. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: REST OF TODAY...West southwest winds 5 to 10 knots becoming south. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SATURDAY...South southwest winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. SATURDAY NIGHT...West southwest winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms through the night. SUNDAY...South southwest winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Chance of showers. Chance of thunderstorms.
