OFFSHORE- Sailfish continue to dominate the offshore scene. Strong numbers of sailfish in 150-350' of water from south of Palm Beach Inlet all the way up to the Loran Tower. Live goggle eyes and blue runners under the kite are all but a sure bet for sailfish right now. Mixed in with the sails will be a few decent sized dolphin and a fair number of kingfish. The smaller kingfish have been inside of 100' of water in fair numbers from the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet. Drifting dead sardines on a knocker rig remains a good bet for the smaller kingfish.
INSHORE- Some good mixed bag action inshore right now. Fair numbers of jacks and some bluefish in the ICW and Loxahatchee River. Catch and release snook fishing remains good around the bridges at night. Sheepshead and black drum are biting fresh shrimp around area bridges. Scattered reports of a few pompano on the Hobe Sound Flats. SURF/PIER- Pompano action has been fairt this week, especially if you can find the right water. Slightly cloudy blue/green is ideal for finding the pompano in. Bluefish have been around in fair numbers. Still waiting for the spinner sharks to show up in big numbers...should be any day! NOAA MARINE WEATHER- FRIDAY...East northeast winds 15 to 25 knots along the coast to east northeast 20 to 25 knots with gusts to around 35 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 6 to 8 feet with occasional seas to 10 feet along the coast and 8 to 10 feet with occasional to 13 feet in the Gulf Stream. Period 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters rough in exposed areas. Isolated showers. SATURDAY...East winds 15 to 20 knots along the coast to east 20 to 25 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 7 to 9 feet with occasional seas to 11 feet. Intracoastal waters rough in exposed areas. SUNDAY...Southeast winds 15 to 20 knots along the coast to southeast 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A chance of showers. Thanks FOr Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Not the nicest report ever for the weekend, but certainly not the worst for this time of year. The sail fishing offshore has been on fire over the past week or so. Lots of sailfish up and down the line in 150-250' of water. While most of the sailfish are being caught on live baits locally, those trolling are also getting a few chances as well. Small ballyhoo or a bonita strip is a great way to raise a sailfish. A few decent size dolphin around, but not in any large numbers. The kingfish are starting to fill in along the 120' ledge a bit, and should continue to improve over the coming weeks. Bottom fishing reports were slim this week.
INSHORE: Cold weather should help to push some pompano into the Loxahatchee River and Hobe Sound Flats. Look for pompano to skip up behind the boat and be ready to throw Doc's Goof jigs in the vicinity. The wintertime sheepshead and black drum are filling in around local bridges, boat docks, and deep holes. Fresh shrimp is the best for them right now. Snook fishing is tough with the cold weathe. Locally it sounds like or snook have faired well, and should really start biting well as the weather warms. SURF/PIER; The pompano bite was good early in the week, but slowed when the water got dirty again. Key to the surf fishing has been water clarity. When its good, the fishing is good! Hopefully it straightens out a bit this weekend and we could see great action for pompano, spanish mackerel, and bluefish. NOAA Marine Weather: FRIDAY...Northeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet along the coast and 4 to 6 feet with occasional to 8 feet in the Gulf Stream. Period 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SATURDAY...East northeast winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to east northeast 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Period 9 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of showers. . SUNDAY...East winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A chance of showers. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Sailfish action has been good, and conditions look good for them to bite through the weekend. The sailfish seem to be stretched up and down the line, with a fair amount of fish from the Juno Beach Fishing Pier up to a little north of the Loran Tower. Live goggle eyes have been the bait of choice for the kites, while thread fins are working well on the flatlines. Key to the sailfish has been finding areas with good water and some decent tide. No current typically means no sailfish. Mixed in with the sailfish have been a fair number of dolphin, some being pretty good size. The same live baits will work for the dolphin, as will trolling small naked ballyhoo. A handful of kingfish and cobia in on top of the 120' ledge. Bottom fishing remains pretty good for snapper. Remember grouper season is closed now.
INSHORE: The cooler weather has sparked a little life into the Hole Sound and Munyon Island flats. Ladyfish, jacks, and any occasional pom[pano and spotted seatrout have shown up. Live shrimp under a popping cork, or small jig tipped with fresh shrimp is a good bet right now. Sheepshead and black drum are hanging around area bridges, and are best targeted with fresh shrimp. Catch and release snook fishing has been fair. SURF/PIER: The big news this week has been a return (FINALLY!!!) of some good looking water. With the good water came a nice solid push of pompano. Pompano action on Wednesday was really really good on the Juno Beach Pier and down to the south. Sandfleas, clams, and fishbites have been the bait of choice for the pompano. Bluefish also showed up in good numbers this week, and are very willing to bite silver spoons, noisy topwater plugs, and cut bait. Good scattering of spanish mackerel around as well. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...South winds 10 to 15 knots along the coast to south 15 to 20 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers likely. SATURDAY...Northwest winds 5 to 10 knots along the coast to northwest 10 to 15 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers in the morning. .SATURDAY NIGHT...North northwest winds 10 to 15 knots along the coast to north northwest 15 to 20 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas around 2 feet along the coast and 2 to 4 feet with occasional to 5 feet in the Gulf Stream. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of showers. SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY...North winds 10 to 15 knots along the coast to north northeast 15 to 20 knots in the Gulf Stream. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet along the coast and 4 to 6 feet with occasional to 9 feet in the Gulf Stream. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of showers. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Lousy weather kept everyone at the dock for the first part of the week and fishing reports to a minimum; but that should change this weekend with what looks to be ideal sail fishing conditions. The "Gold Cup" tournament is this weekend, and things look right for many boats to break double digit release numbers. Expect the sailfish to be in their normal stomping grounds from Palm Beach Inlet up past Jupiter Inlet in 150-250' of water. Live goggle eyes and blue runners will be there baits of choice for the sailfish under the kite; while thread fins, pilchards, and sardines will all be good flatline bait options. Mixed in with the sailfish should be some dolphin and kingfish. Bottom fishing reports were slow overall this week, but should remain good if water clarity is ok.
INSHORE: Not much to write about on the inshore fishing side of this things this week; thanks largely to poor weather conditions for the first part of the week. Cold weather could really help fire up the inshore flats around Muyon Island and Hobe Sound. This weather could push in pompano, ladyfish, jacks, and maybe even a few triple tail. Some sheepshead are being caught around area bridges. Snook fishing was tough this week with cold weather. SURF/PIER: Extremely poor water clarity (looks a lot like chocolate milk right now) has surf fishing slowed to a crawl this week. As soon as it clears things should really go off. Expect a good number of Spanish Mackerel, bluefish, and pompano to be around when water conditions improve. Could see some triple tail around the Juno Beach Pier as well. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...North winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet along the coast and 5 to 7 feet with occasional to 9 feet in the Gulf Stream. Period 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. SATURDAY...North northeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of light showers in the morning. SUNDAY...East winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet along the coast and 4 to 6 feet with occasional to 8 feet in the Gulf Stream. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A chance of light showers Thanks For Reading, Todd |
