OFFSHORE: Looks like an ideal forecast for some good dolphin fishing this weekend! Main dolphin bite has been in 160-300', and the southeast wind should help keep them pushed in that general range. Reports of a few fish out deeper are coming in; and that is to be expected as we move into May. The dolphin are biting smaller trolling baits well, including bonita strips and squid. Drifting and chumming is also a good method for catching the dolphin. Sardines and squid are good baits for the dolphin, as are live baits if you can find them(Side note...the live bait is beginning to show up in the usual spring/early summer spots). The kingfish are starting to school up good inside of the 120' ledge from the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet. Live sardines is the key for the kings, and they are no doubt going to bite best late in the afternoon. Mixed in with the kingfish has been some very nice sized blackfin tuna; which will also happily bite a live sardine. The cobra have majority thinned out, but a few are still being picked away at. Bottom fishing (especially for snapper) has improved with the arrival of the kingfish. The snapper love to hang out underneath the sloppy eating kings and pick up the scraps that drift down to them! Sardines will remain the bait of choice for the bottom fishing.
INSHORE: Pretty good snook fishing this week, and a little more stable weather pattern should really help get the snookies moving towards the inlet. Look for the bridges to really start getting good at night, especially the ones closer to the inlets. Flair hawk jigs and big swimsuits are a great choice right now for the snook.. They have started to get off the shrimp diet, and will be willing to snap at the bigger baits now as they try to fatten up before they start making babies. Outgoing tide will no doubt be best for the snook, but if the water has a little cloudiness to it the incoming tide will also produce. The jacks (including some big ones) are still roaming the ICW; and the smaller resident tarpon are hanging out in the Loxahatchee River. Other inshore fishing is a bit hit or miss. SURF/PIER: Pompano fishing slowed a bit this week along Juno Beach/Jupiter; but was still very good up towards Jupiter Island/Hobe Sound. Should still be more fish coming with the spring run, so don't rule out Juno yet for some good days. The southeast wind this weekend shouldn't hurt the pompano fishing, and could help bring another push of fish up the beach. Snook fishing remains good on the Juno Beach pier. Fishing frozen smashed sardines on the bottom has been the key for the snook. Still a handful of bluefish hanging around, as well as passing schools of spanish mackerel. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...EAST SOUTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET. PERIOD 4 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...SOUTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 6 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. SHOP UPDATES: Will be Back in-stock (As of Thursday afternoon) with good quality domestic frozen sardines. Great Boardshort sale going on this weekend! Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: The weather let up a little this week, and the fish seemed to show up pretty good! Still some sailfish around; though numbers are starting to drop. If your not quite ready to put the kites away, this weekend should be pretty good for at least one more go round. If the sails don’t show up, the dolphin should fill in the gaps pretty good. Overall good dolphin fishing this week in 150-300’ of water, with some twenty plus pound fish around. Most of the bigger dolphin have been traveling in smaller packs, while the bigger schools of fish have been on the smaller side. Blackfin tuna, including some fat chunky ones, have all been mixed in with the dolphin. Best action continues to remain inside of 300’ of water for the most part. Inside the 120’ ledge cobra action has slowed, but the kingfish showed up in good numbers this week. A throat hooked live bait is the way to go for the kings, and will no doubt catch the attention of any cobra around as well. Snapper action should definitely improve now with the arrival of the kingfish.
INSHORE: Snook fishing remains the main game in town. The bridges are producing a good number of snook at night, especially on the outgoing tide. The flair hawk bite is starting to pick up, as is the swimbait bite. The snook are still eating shrimp, but with the arrival of some springtime mullet the bigger baits are coming into play for sure. The jacks are still cruising ICW seawalls and docks, but the bigger ones have been a little harder to find. The Munyon Island flats have been a bit slow. Home Sound Flats are holding some bait and a little mixed bag of snook, ladyfish, and jacks. SURF/PIER: Pompano are still biting pretty good, but surf conditions have made fishing tough. The seaweed has been thick and troublesome. Hopefully it will work its way out of the way before long. Sandfleas and clams remain the baits of choice for the pompano. Look for the early morning or late afternoon to produce best on the pomps. Still a stray bluefish or two around, but for the most part they have moved on. Snook action has been hot at the Juno Beach Pier. Frozen sardines have been the bait of choice for the snook. The kingfish have also been around at the pier. Live baits (threadfin or small blue runner) and Rapala X-Raps have been the baits of choice for the kingfish. Best action on the kings has been late afternoon. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...EAST SOUTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET. PERIOD 4 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SATURDAY...SOUTHEAST WINDS AROUND 10 KNOTS ALONG THE COAST TO SOUTHEAST 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE GULF STREAM. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SUNDAY...SOUTH SOUTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: Dolphin fishing is on fire right now. Won't be ideal conditions around, but the dolphin should be around in big numbers. Look for the dolphin to be in 150-300' of water. Live baits have been best, but trolling should produce some fish as well. Sailfish action should be hot in the same areas. Cobia action along the 120' ledge remains good, along with some scattered kingfish. Springtime run of kingfish should pop off at pretty much anytime. Look for the snapper fishing to get hot as well when the kings show up.
INSHORE: Snook fishing has been good, and should improve as the fish start to move towards the inlet. Look for the snook to feed best on the outgoing tide, especially at night around the bridges. Still some monster jacks moving around in the ICW. Been a few sheepshead hanging around area bridges. Other inshore action is a bit spotty. SURF/PIER: Pompano fishing remains strong, with decent catches coming up and down the line. Been tough fishing lately with all the seaweed around, but as it clears out the pompano should be on fire. Sandfleas and clams remain the baits of choice for the pompano. Look for lowlight periods to be best for the pomps. Scattered spanish mackerel around, along with a few bluefish. Snook are starting to show up in better numbers along the beach as well. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...NORTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 4 TO 6 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL TO 8 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. PERIOD 5 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SATURDAY...EAST NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 20 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 30 KNOTS. SEAS 5 TO 7 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 9 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON. SUNDAY...EAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 4 TO 6 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 8 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE: A little slower fishing this week, and hard to say exactly what this late season front may do. May see a little push of sailfish along the edge. Looks like a good weekend to put the kites back out one more time. Live goggle eye and blue runners will be a good bait choice, as will live sardines if you can find them. Dolphin are still hanging out in 100-300' of water; albeit a little scattered up and down the line. Cobia are in along the 120' ledge along with some scattered kingfish. Bottom fishing remains good, with a nice assortment of snapper around. Sardines remain the bait of choice for the snapper and cobia.
INSHORE: Good snook fishing in the river and around the bridges at night right now. The snook are starting to get a little more active; so don't be afraid to move away from the shrimp and mix up the baits with some bigger stuff. Some very big jacks inshore right now as well. A big topwater plug or live mullet along the seawalls is a solid choice for the cruising jacks. Other inshore action is a bit hit or miss right now. SURF/PIER: Pompano remains the word of the week along the surf. Low light periods of the day remain the best for the pomps, and clams and sand fleas are the baits of choice. Still a few straggler bluefish around. Snook are starting to show along the surf in a little better numbers. Croaker and whiting are biting live shrimp and fresh cut shrimp in the first trough. Scattered jacks along the beach. As well was a few blacktips still hanging around. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...NORTHWEST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS ALONG THE COAST TO NORTHWEST 15 TO 20 KNOTS IN THE GULF STREAM. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 6 TO 8 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL TO 10 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. PERIOD 7 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SATURDAY...NORTH WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 3 TO 5 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL TO 6 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SUNDAY...EAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. Thanks For Reading, Todd |
