Just want to wish all of our great customers a verry Happy New Year...hopefully filled with lots of fish!
HOLIDAY SHOP HOURS: NEW YEARS EVE: 6AM-3PM NEW YEARS DAY: 6AM-3PM OFFSHORE: SO...not the greatest weekend for a trip out the inlet based on the forecast. This passing cold front will most likely trigger the best sailfish bite of the season so far, but it's not going to be one for the faint of heart. Dolphin fishing has been good this week, with some decent fish coming from the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet. Best depth on the dolphin has been 180-300' of water, and small ballyhoo and bonita strips are the bait of choice. Scattered kingfish in along the 120' ledge along with a few cobia. Snapper fishing remains very good for this time of year...though it's not going to be fun to try and drift for them this weekend. INSHORE: Been some interesting fishing inshore this week in the Jupiter Area. Some reports of pompano coming in, scattered redfish, and even a few flounder. Snook fishing remains fair, but the cold front coming through will most likely make that a little bit tougher. A few sheepshead around the boat docks and bridge pilings. The flats around Munyon Island and Hobe Sound are continuing to produce mixed bag action, and that could improve with the coming cold front. SURF/PIER: Good mixed bag action on the beach right now; with a few pompano early in the week, good spanish mackerel fishing, a few bluefish, and good numbers of croakers. Hard to say exactly what the front will do to the surf fishing, but it could help push a fair number of pompano in. Shark fishing has started to improve. Should start to see some very good fishing over the next few weeks. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...NORTH WINDS 20 TO 25 KNOTS. SEAS 5 TO 7 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 9 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 9 TO 11 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 14 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. DOMINANT PERIOD 8 SECONDS. EAST NORTHEAST SWELL 3 FEET.
