OFFSHORE: Slower week offshore this week overall. Still some dolphin around; but not quite the numbers we saw over the past few weeks. Best bet on finding the dolphin remains out deep (1000-1200' for the most part); but east winds win the forecast should help push them in closer. Trolling bonita strips and squid has been the best bet for the dolphin. Scattering of small wahoo around this week when you find the dolphin; so have a jig ready to shoot down deep for a lurking wahoo. Lots of life in along the 120' ledge; with a huge amount of bonita, sharks, blue runners, and a host of others around. Snapper fishing was a bit slow this week; but still a fair number around. The weather this weekend could possibly get the snapper fired up and biting good. Look for sardines and bonita chunks to be the top producing baits on the bottom.
INSHORE: Snook fishing remains good inshore; and conditions look really good for a strong bite this weekend. Wind and overcast weather may not be the most fun to fish in; but it really tends to get the inshore bite fired up. Look for snook to be keyed in on mullet along seawalls and under boat docks. At night the snook are hanging on bridge shadowlines, more than ready to smash a First Light Snook Jig or NLBN swimbait swam with the current. Mangrove snapper bite has been good inshore. Depending on which direction Fred heads...we could see a really good snapper bite around the inlets as well. SURF/PIER: Catch and release snook fishing was good agin this week. A good number of snook coming from the beach, at the pier, and in Jupiter Inlet. Weather will shake that up a little this weekend, but will definitely still be some good chances to get after the snook. Conditions look like they will get right to trigger a Flare Hawk and swimbait bite along the beach and at the pier. Lowlight periods will be best, and that includes cloudy overcast days if we get that this weekend. Live croakers and sand perch will be top live baits for the big snook; and it is possible we could start to see a few mullet schools roll through already. The Juno Beach Pier has been producing a lot of blue runners and Spanish Mackerel for those looking to keep the rods bent. Sandperch and croaker have been around in scattered numbers as well.
