OFFSHORE: It won't be the calmest weekend ever offshore, but a east/southeast wind should help fire up the dolphin fishing. While floating debris and well formed weed lines will still be the best bet for dolphin, any well defined color change, current rip, or large area of bait could potentially be holding dolphin this weekend. Trolling the usual dolphin spread (Ballyhoo, squid, bonita strips, jet head lures, etc.) will be a good route to go, as will drifting and chumming. No set depth on the dolphin these days; best bet is to look for "fishy" looking water and start there. The moon is getting bigger, and the wahoo should start biting. Expect a fair number of wahoo to be caught this weekend in 120-300' of water from Palm Beach to Jupiter Inlet. High speed trolling early and late in the day will be effective, as will drifting live bait out deeper during higher sunlight. In along the 120' ledge the bonitas, sharks, kingfish, and scattered others continue to attack any kind of live baits coming at them. Jupiter has been holding a few more kingfish, while the bonitas are pretty solid up and down the line. Snapper fishing has been good, but rumbles of some cold water on the bottom the last few days are coming in. The wind should help stir it up and hopefully move out the cold water quickly.
INSHORE: Snook fishing remains the main game in town right now. Getting a little closer to season, and a little closer to seeing some finger mullet schools. Bridges will be producing at night on the outgoing tide, while seawalls remain a good choice early in the morning and late in the afternoon. A live mullet, flair hawk, spooltek, or big swim bait would all be a good choice right now for the snook. A few tarpon and jacks will be mixed in with the snook. Mangrove snapper action has been fair at night around the bridges. Outgoing tide tends to produce best for the mangroves. SURF/PIER: Catch and release snook fishing remains the main game in town right now, and it has been good. Lowlight periods remain the best, but the snook will bite on an incoming tide as well. Small jigs, swimming plugs, and Vudu mullet are all good choices for the snook right now. The Juno Beach Pier has been good with lots of snook, a few kingfish, scattered cero mackerel, and a few tarpon all in the mix. Croaker and whiting are biting well in the first trough on small live shrimp. Should be a fishy weekend along the beach. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...EAST SOUTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS.
