OFFSHORE- Little on the tough side offshore this week. A few decent dolphin reports; but for the most part it took a lot of work to find them. For the most part on the dolphin it's classic summertime patterns...in other words get ready to burn some gas and go find them. It's the time of year that you may find the dolphin in 200' one day and 1300' the next. It's all about finding well formed weedlines (Scattered broken up weeds are just annoying), floating debris, current rips, color changes, or large areas of flying fish. Trolling bonita strips, squid, and small jethead lures is a good way to go for the dolphin; they let you troll a little quicker and cover more water on the search. Inside of 300' of water the fishing has been tough; with very little tide and green water being a common theme. A few scattered blackfin tuna around in the less than ideal conditions, but not like the past few weeks. Kingfish bite overall remains very tough. Snapper fishing has been pretty good this week. Some very nice mutton snapper around, along with some big yellowtail snapper. Sardines remain the bait of choice on the bottom. INSHORE- Catch and release snook fishing remains pretty good. A fair number of fish in the inlets, and that will only increase as we get later into the month. Live baits are the way to go during the day for the snook. At night flairhawks and 3 and 5" NLBN Swimbaits have been the best lure choices. A handful of mangrove snapper around. SMall live pilchards and live shrimp are the way to go for the snapper. SURF/PIER- Tough fishing along the beach this week, with dirty water really slowing things down overall. A few pompano (that really shouldn't be around) biting early in the morning on sandfleas and shrimp. The snook aren't fully on the beach yet, but have started to show in slightly better numbers. It's about time for the snook to start cruising the trough. If we can get some clear water back in, sightfishing them will start to come into play. The Juno Beach Pier has been producing some very large sandperch and a few croakers. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...SW winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 1 to 2 ft. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A chance of showers and tstms. SAT...Along the coast, W SW winds around 5 kt becoming SE 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. In the Gulf Stream, W SW winds 5 to 10 kt becoming S SE in the afternoon. Seas 1 foot. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. A slight chance of showers and tstms.
