Weekend Fishing Outlook (6/30-7/2/2023)

Read Now

OFFSHORE-  Overall pretty good fishing offshore this week.  A scattering of dolphin reports (mostly smaller fish) coming in from all kinds of varying depths.  One boat finds them in 1000' of water, while the next one finds a big school mixed in with the bonita in 150' of water.  Summer sailfish action has been very good, with the action getting better the further north of Jupiter Inlet you go.  Still a decent number of sails around though for those not looking to run way up the line.  Blackfin action picked back up this week, with some solid size fish back in the mix as well.  Best action on the Blackfin will be just outside the bonita schools, generally in 200-300' of water.  A good north current and a little chop helps get the tuna biting even better.  Kingfish action picked back up along the 120' ledge.  It's not a huge school of kingfish, but much better numbers this week on them.  Should be a very good weekend for the wahoo.  The moon is getting bigger, plenty of bonita around, and seaweed has not been terrible along the edge...should no doubt be some wahoo around!  Snapper fishing remains very good in 90-120' of water.   Some nice mutton snapper around, along with a good number of yellowtails.  Sardines remain the bait of choice on the bottom.

INSHORE-  Catch and release snook fishing remains good inshore.  Best action on the snook will be early morning and late afternoon, and also around approaching storms.  In the inlets look for the snook to bite best on the tide changes.  Mangrove snapper action has been good inshore.  Best action on the snapper will be around bridges and boat docks close to deeper water with good tidal flow.  Live shrimp and small live pilchards are the top bait choice for the snapper.  A fair sandperch bite inshore as well; with pieces of fresh shrimp being the bait of choice.

SURF/PIER-  The water has been a touch off the past day or two, but still good fishing overall.  A handful of kingfish have been caught on the pier early morning and late afternoon.  A good casting swimming plug (like a Rapala X-Rap or Yo-Zuri LC Minnow) are the way to go.  Once the kingfish bite slows down the bonita have been coming through to pick up the slack.  The snook bite has started to improve at the pier and along the beach as well.  While lowlight periods will produce the best action, the snook will also bite well throughout the day at the pier on the tide changes.  A live croaker or sandperch is a great choice for a big snook bite.  A good number of blue runners around the pier, along with a scattered Spanish Mackerel or two as well.  Conditions look pretty good through the weekend...should stay good!
