OFFSHORE: Dolphin fishing was a little slower this week, but the forecast(see below) for the upcoming weekend could very easily fire up a good mahi bite. Look for good dolphin action in 200-500' of water. Trolling ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid should all be good choices to find the dolphin. Mixed in with the dolphin have been some very nice blackfin; and they are more than willing to chow down on the same trolling baits. Sailfish season may technically be over, but expect a good number of spindlebeaks to crash the party this weekend in 100-200' of water. Livebaits under a kite will be a safe bet to fire up the sails. Inside the 120' ledge springtime kingfish action has kicked into high gear. Throat hooked live sardines are the absolute best bet for the kings right now. Look for the kingfish to be in 70-120' of water depending on water quality, tide, and bait. Snapper fishing improved nicely this week; with some stud muttons being caught! The snapper love to hang out under the kingfish. Kingfish are sloppy eaters and the snapper love to hang out underneath and wait for a easy meal. Fresh dead sardines are a great bait choice for the snapper right now. Still a few cobia mixed in with the snapper as well. Overall; lots of good stuff going on offshore right now, well worth heading out if you have a chance! INSHORE: Snook fishing remains strong inshore right now, with some big fish being caught by those putting the time in. The bridges are a good place to start looking for the snook, especially at night. Look for the snook to feed best on an outgoing tide. Still a few big mullet hanging around, so don't be afraid to chunk some big baits. Big swim baits, flair hawk jigs, and big swimming plugs are all good lure choices right now for the snook. Other inshore action has been spotty again this week. A few good reports of some nice sheepshead schools hanging around area bridges, and scattered mangrove snapper have been trickling in. SURF/PIER: Pompano action remained good again this week, especially on days with a little wind and wave action. Those calm clear days are hard to trick the pompano in, better to have it just a little mixed up. Sandfleas, clams, and FishBItes remain the baits of choice for the pompano. Lots of big jacks cruising down the beach to give your tackle a test. Starting to see some snook along the beach in fair numbers. Croakers biting in the first trough on small pieces of shrimp. The Juno Beach Pier has been catching a few kingfish. Lots of good stuff going on right now along the beach. NOAA Marine Weather: FRIDAY...NORTHWEST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SATURDAY...NORTH WINDS AROUND 10 KNOTS ALONG THE COAST TO NORTH NORTHWEST 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE GULF STREAM. SEAS AROUND 2 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SATURDAY NIGHT...NORTH NORTHEAST WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS.
