OFFSHORE- Fishing remained very good this week, with all kinds of good stuff going on. Dolphin fishing, though not as good as last week, was very good again. Look for the dolphin to be in 200-500' of water. Most of the dolphin are in small scattered packs, so trolling and covering water is a good way to go. Ballyhoo, squid, bonita strips, and small jet head lures are a good way to go for the mahi-mahi. Look for good current rips and areas with flying fish to be holding the most dolphin. Mixed in with the dolphin have been some nice blackfin tuna, including some good sized one. The blackfin tuna are more than willing to bite the same trolled baits that the dolphin are eating. Springtime action along the 120' ledge also kicked into high gear this week, with lots of stuff going on. Kingfish, sailfish, dolphin, blackfin, cobia, and a few wahoo are all in the mix along the ledge. Best bet is to drift live sardines (which also showed up in good numbers this week) in 90-120' of water on a triple hook rig or single hook wire rig. The snapper fishing improved nicely this week as well, with some good action on mutton and yellowtail snapper. Lots of good stuff going on offshore right now, well worth going if you have the chance!
INSHORE- Snook fishing continues to be the main game in town on the inshore side of things. Best action will be at night or low light periods. Still a fair number of mullet around, so don't be afraid to toss the big baits; the snook will bite em! Flair hawk style jigs, swim baits, and large live mullet are all good bait choices right now. Other action inshore has been a little hit or miss. Scattered reports of some snapper around the bridges. Best bet will be low light periods of the day for sure. SURF/PIER- Pompano fishing was good again this week, with good catches on sand fleas, clams, and fishbites as well. Early morning and late afternoon have been the best, but a few fish are being caught throughout the day. Scattered schools of bluefish and spanish mackerel still moving along the beach. The bobber rig with a clark spoon has been getting a little play again this week. Some big jacks along the beach north of Jupiter Inlet. Starting to see some snook along the beach as well. Plenty of good stuff along the beach right now. NOAA MARINE WEATHER- FRIDAY...EAST WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET. DOMINANT PERIOD 10 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP.
