Weekend Fishing Outlook (3/31-4/2/2017)

3/30/2017

OFFSHORE:  Fishing slowed a bit offshore this week, but overall remained very good.  Sailfish remain scattered up and down the line, with a chance or two almost a give each trip.  Dolphin fishing was good again this week in 150-300' of water.  The fish seemed to shrink a little bit, with more throwbacks in the mix than the last few weeks.  That's a good sign though, those little dolphin grow quick!  Cobia fishing was great along the 120' ledge.  A sardine on the bottom was the ticket for the cobia.  Kingfish are also mixed in along the edge.  Snapper fishing is still very hot.  Sardines is the bait of choice for the snapper.  Very good fishing offshore right now...well worth going if you have a chance!

INSHORE: Good snook fishing again this week, and it should only improve as the weather continues to warm.  Won't be long before the snook start thinking about heading towards the inlets.  Look for the snook to be around the bridges at night, and biting best on an outgoing tide.  Flair Hawk style jigs, medium size swimbaits, and shrimp jigs are all great choices for the snook right now.  Some monster bluefish inside right now along with some huge jacks as well.

SURF/PIER:  Pompano fishing is very good right now, and should continue to stay hot for a few weeks.  Sandfleas and clams are the baits of choice for the pompano right now.  No super hot spot for the pomps right now...just a matter of landing in the right spot!  Still some bluefish around, along with scattered spanish mackerel.  The sharks have thinned out a bit, but still a good number around.  Snook fishing has been above average for this time of year along the beach.  Lots of good stuff going on right now...go if you have a chance!

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...SOUTH WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS ALONG THE COAST TO SOUTH 15 TO 20 KNOTS IN THE GULF STREAM. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET. PERIOD 4 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE MORNING... THEN A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AFTERNOON.

Thanks For Reading,
