OFFSHORE- No reports to speak of offshore this week due to heavy winds. The ocean was rough, and for the most part none wanted any part of it. Conditions look right this weekend though for a good dolphin bite. Look for the dolphin to be in 150-300' of water scattered up and down the line. Setting up a drift with good amounts of chum (ground menhaden chum, glass minnows, and menhaden oil) and letting the dolphin come to you is always a good choice during a strong southeast wind, as is the standard deal of trolling to find them. Sailfish action was great last weekend, and should continue on this week as well. Look for the sailfish to be in roughly the same area as the dolphin. Live goggle eyes and small blue runners will be the baits of choice for the sailfish. A few scattered wahoo will no doubt be in the mix as well. Kingfish remain scattered off of Jupiter Inlet in 80-120' of water. Reports of some cobia on the reef are starting to trickle in as well. Snapper fishing has been very steady from Palm Beach to Jupiter Inlet. Springtime fishing is really starting to take off, so be sure to get offshore if you get a chance!
INSHORE- Snook fishing continues to improve, and will only improve as the weather warms. The bridges are holding a good number of snook on outgoing tide, and the Loxahatchee River has some nice fish laid up around seawalls and boat docks. The snook are also beginning to stack up good in the dock lights, especially in areas with good current. As is almost always the case, the snook fishing will be better at night; so be prepared to give up some sleep to track down the best linesider action. Jacks and ladyfish are still plentiful along the Hobe Sound flats; with a few trout and maybe even a redfish still in the mix as well. Area bridges are still holding a fair number of sheepshead, and occasional black drum. SURF FISHING- Pompano action has been good this week. Holding bottom has been a little tough, but with a spider sinker and a little luck the pompano are around! Sandfleas, clams, and fishbites remain the top producing baits. The sharks are around still, so be sure to reel those pomps in quick! Scattered bluefish around still, along with scattered schools of spanish mackerel. Some nice croaker and whiting biting in the first trough on small pieces of cut shrimp. It's a little early, but a few snook are cruising the surf right now as well. Lots of good stuff going on, and should be a good weekend for some surf fishing! NOAA Marine Forecast: FRIDAY...EAST SOUTHEAST WINDS AROUND 15 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 6 FEET.
