OFFSHORE: Nicest looking weekend forecast we've had in a while coming up. Sailfish action remains pretty good with most boats getting a few shots a trip. No big concentrations of fish anywhere from the sounds of things; more a steady pick up and down the line. Dolphin fishing also remains fair with some decent catches coming in 200-300' of water. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid is a good way to go for the dolphin. While structure is important, it's more likely to find small pods of dolphin in open water, around current rips, or in areas with lots of bait. Be prepared to cover some water to find them; the plus side is when you do find them the average size is pretty good. Kingfish are scattered nicely along the edge. Drifting sardines in 90-120' of water is very likely to get some king bites right now. Snapper fishing remains good in 70-90' of water from the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet. Mixed in with the snapper should be a few cobia.
INSHORE: Snook season is back open and initial reports sound promising. Takes a little work and some luck, but those putting the time are catching some snook. The bridges are producing at night, with live shrimp being a solid bait choice. Flair hawks, smaller swimbaits, and shrimp jigs will also work. Look for the outgoing tide to produce best. Other inshore action remains spotty. Some sheepshead around with a few black drum mixed in. A few scattered reports of some trout and redfish on the flats. A few pompano are still being caught in the Loxahatchee River. SURF/PIER: Pompano fishing improved this week. Best action on the pomps remains north of Jupiter Inlet, but a few are still being picked south of the inlet as well. Sandfleas, clams, and fish bites remain the bait of choice for the pompano. Spanish mackerel are biting well in Peck's Lake. Some cobia starting to move along the beach as well. Been a handful of snook hanging around the pier. Shark reports are starting to trickle in. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SUNDAY...EAST NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 5 KNOTS BECOMING NORTH IN THE AFTERNOON.
