Weekend Fishing Outlook (1/20-1/22/2017)

Read Now

OFFSHORE:  The sailfish bite slowed this week, with those spending a lot of time on the water getting the bites.  Conditions are not going to be ideal for "The Buc" (buccaneercup.com), but the tournament fleet will definitely find some sails over the weekend.  Should be a good tournament with the trollers headed up north and the live bait guys finding the fish one way or another.  Dolphin bite was pretty good this week with some reports of some nice fish coming in!  Not a lot of schoolies around, but some solid fifteen plus pound fish around.  Most of the dolphin have been inside of 300' of water, but don't be afraid to poke out a little deeper if the inside stuff is slow.  Trolling small ballyhoo and squid is a good choice for the dolphin.  Kingfish remain scattered up and down the ledge in Jupiter, with some solid smokers in the mix.  Bottom fishing remains very good, and the next few days should produce nice conditions to pull up a few snapper.

INSHORE:  Sheepshead remain around in good numbers, along with a few black drum.  Live shrimp is a good way to go, as are fiddler crabs if you can find them.  A few spotted sea trout and some redfish around the Munyon Island and Home Sound Flats.  Live shrimp is also a good choice for these guys.  Pompano are making a little showing inshore, with the Loxahatchee River holding a few.  Catch and release snook fishing is a bit hit or miss.  Season is coming up...time to go start finding out what they are doing!

SURF/PIER:  A few pompano around this week, but not in huge numbers.  Lowlight periods will be the key to getting a few pomp bites right now, especially with super calm clear conditions.  No big numbers of bluefish around, but a few are being picked away at Hobe Sound Beach.  Blacktip sharks are starting to show a little better, and should be here in good numbers very soon.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRIDAY...SOUTH SOUTHWEST WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS. SEAS AROUND 2 FEET. PERIOD 6 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP.
SATURDAY...SOUTH WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP.
SUNDAY...SOUTH WINDS 20 TO 25 KNOTS. SEAS 4 TO 6 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 8 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
