OFFSHORE- Fishing remained very good offshore for those making it out. Dolphin and Blackfin Tuna are around in good numbers in 200-300' of water. Trolling small feathers is the ticket for the Blackfin, while ballyhoo and squid are a great choice for the dolphin. Expect the sailfish to bite very well this weekend in 120-200' of water. As usual look for well defined color changes, current rips, and large areas of bait for the biggest number of sails (and the tuna and dolphin as well). KIngfish are scattered up and down the 120' ledge in decent numbers. Snapper fishing also remains very good; with sardines being the bait of choice.
INSHORE- A bit slower inshore this week, but still a good number of snook catches coming in. Look for the bridges to produce well at night, especially on outgoing tide. With the mullet thinning out inshore; it's time to start concentrating on the jig bite again. Seawalls and boat docks will also be a good choice for the snook. The Hobe Sound flats continue to produce a nice mixed bag assortment of species, especially early in the morning and then again later in the afternoon. SURF/PIER- Surf fishing remains very good over the past week. Bluefish, jacks, ladyfish, and some big Spanish Mackerel have been scattered up and down the beach in good numbers. Low light periods are best for the most action; especially for those hoping to use lures. Large topwater poppers, longcast swimming plugs, and diamond jigs/spoons have been the best lure choices. Still some pods of mullet along the beach with tarpon and blacktip sharks hanging around them. The snook have largely peeled off the beach, but you may still find a few around the lingering mullet schools. Pompano bite remains very good for those putting the time in. Still a fair amount of smaller pomps around, but it does sound like the number of keepers being caught is improving. Sandfleas, clams, and Fishbites will be the top producers bait wise for sure.
