Weekend Fishing Outlook (1/13-1/15/2023)

Read Now

OFFSHORE- Sailfish action remains fair; and conditions look ideal for them going into the weekend.  The best bite on the sailfish has been from just south of Palm Beach Inlet to the end of the (Singer Island) condos.  Bite remains pretty good in 130-200' of water depending on conditions, with sardines (if you can find them) being the absolute ticket for the sails right now.  They will bite gogs and runners under the kite good; but a nice live sardine makes them go stupid.  Pretty good wahoo bite locally on the backside of the full moon.  Bottom fishing reports remain fair to good:  One day the snapper bite great and the next day its a grind.  With the way the forecast looks for the weekend...guessing won't be a whole lot of bottom fishing going on.

INSHORE-  Kind of tough fishing inshore this week.  Snook fishing was slow, and will likely not improve with a hard front on the way.  Sheepshead action has been fair, but not red hot.  A few black drum mixed in with the sheepshead.  Live shrimp will be a good bait choice for the sheepshead and the black drum.  The cold front could help push some fish onto the flats around Munyan Island.  Palm Beach Inlet continues to hold some good schools of jacks.

SURF/PIER-  This week saw fairly slow fishing both along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier as well; with most of the better reports continuing to come from  Hobe Sound and north.  A hard front pushing through this weekend will likely (at least in theory SHOULD) push some fish our way.  Those grinding it out on the beach did find a few bluefish this week, with most of them coming at night on cut bait.  A few pompano around, but no numbers to speak of.  Spanish Mackerel remain very thick in Peck's Lake; with some scattered schools along the beach in Hobe Sound as well.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRI...W SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to around 25 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Period 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of showers in the morning, then a chance of showers in the afternoon.
