OFFSHORE- Been a HOT week of sail fishing offshore...and it has also been rough! The usual deal for the sailfish is the way to go; live baits under the kite or small ballyhoo behind the dredge are the ticket for the sails. Bite has been fairly spread out with a nice group of fish stretched from the Juno Beach Pier all the way up to Fort Pierce. As usual the live bait guys will go a little better from the Loran Tower South while the trollers do a little better to the north (Though this week the trollers did just fine to the south as well!). Some decent size dolphin mixed in with the sailfish. Also lots of scattered kingfish in with the sails and dolphin. Above average wahoo fishing for this time of year, and the full moon should help keep them biting. Rough weather has kept snapper fishing reports to a minimum this week.
INSHORE- The interesting news around northern Palm Beach County this week on the inshore front remains the above average number of redfish hanging around. Now we aren't talking schools of hundreds of fish to sight fish along the flats, but even a chance or two at a redfish is pretty cool for us. A few spotted seatrout on the flats. Lots of sheepshead around the docks and bridge pilings. Live shrimp and sand fleas are solid bait choices for the sheepshead. Catch and release snook fishing remains pretty good around the bridges at night. SURF/PIER- It was a little slower week surf fishing wise due mostly to rough ocean conditions. Pompano action remains a bit sporadic. Seems to be a few more pompano north of Jupiter Inlet...and also more sharks, so reel em in quick! Still a fair scattering of bluefish, jacks, and ladyfish scattered along the beach. A heavy lure (Silver spoon, weighted plug, or big popper) thrown during low light periods of the day is a good choice on the beach right now. Spanish mackerel also remain around in good numbers. NOAA MARINE WEATHER- FRIDAY...EAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 6 FEET. PERIOD 9 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SATURDAY...EAST NORTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS ALONG THE COAST TO EAST NORTHEAST 15 TO 20 KNOTS IN THE GULF STREAM. SEAS 4 TO 6 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 8 FEET. PERIOD 9 SECONDS. NORTHEAST SWELL AROUND 3 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SUNDAY...EAST NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 15 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 6 FEET.
