OFFSHORE: Sailfish season has quietly crept in on us, and gets better with each passing cool front. The bite has been good, with most boats putting in the time getting at least a few shots a day. The usual deal of live baits under the kite with a few flatlines and maybe a deep bait is producing bites, as is trolling small naked ballyhoo. Bite seems to bounce around from 100-300' of water depending on current conditions and bait. Dolphin bite slowed down a bit this week, but should pick back up with the falling moon. A few wahoo were caught locally this week, but the big news has been the good Bahamas wahoo bite that seems to really be heating up. Some more cobia being caught along the edge this week, and snapper fishing remains fair. Snapper fishing has bounced around from 60-100' of water so don't get stuck in one depth if they aren't biting so good. May just need to try a little deeper or shallower. INSHORE: With about a month left of snook season; snook fishing remains pretty darn good. The bridges continue to produce fish at night while docks and seawalls are holding them during the day. The inshore flats around Munyan Island, Macarthur State Park, and Hobe Sound are all starting to hold some fish in fair numbers as well. Low light periods will be the best time to target the snook and spotted seatrout that have been around. The jacks have also been pushing around in good numbers, and they will typically bite pretty good throughout the day. Live shrimp is a great bait choice on the flats right now. Lure wise it's hard to beat the old faithful DOA Shrimp or the newer Vudu Shrimp from Egret Baits right now. SURF/PIER: Slower week report wise this week, but the pompano are still around in fair numbers. The decreasing moon should help get them fired back up, and breezy conditions setting in on Sunday won't hurt anything either! Sandfleas, clams, and fish bites remain great bait choices for the pompano. Doc's Goofy Jig, and other similar style leaded pompano jigs, are also working from the pier. Key with the pompano jig is being able to get the vertical pop and fall into the sand. The pomps think it is a sandflea or small crab trying to get away and just smash it. When the pomps are biting the jig it's a lot of fun! Bluefish are around, but not in the numbers they could/should be. Cut bait or a silver spoon early in the morning or late in the afternoon should produce a few bluefish. Spanish Mackerel are scattered up and down the beach, and have also started to fill into Peck's Lake in decent numbers. Smaller Clark spoons, Gulfstream Flash Minnow Jigs, and Gotcha lures are all great choices for the mackerel. Shark fishing remains good from there beach for those looking to pull on something a little bigger. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...EAST NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 5 FEET. DOMINANT PERIOD 5 SECONDS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SATURDAY...NORTH NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 10 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SUNDAY...NORTH WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 30 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 6 FEET ALONG THE COAST AND 6 TO 8 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SEAS TO 10 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS.
