New Year's Weekend Fishing Outlook (12/28-12/31/2018)

Read Now

Offshore-  Tough weather conditions have limited the amount of people making it offshore this week.  Those that did make it offshore found a fair number of dolphin around.  Most of the dolphin around seem to be in the 8-12lb range, with a handful of larger ones in the mix as well.  Best dolphin action (thanks to the stiff east wind) has been in 100-225' of water from Palm Beach to Jupiter Inlet.  Sailfish action has been fair, but not quite where it should be.  Another cold front or two should do the trick on the sails.  Look for the best sailfish action to be in 120-300' of water from the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter Inlet.  As usual, the go to bait choice for the sailfish will be goggle eyes and blue runners fished under the kite.  Kingfish remain scattered up and down the 120' ledge in fair numbers.  Snapper fishing remains good, just been a bit tough to get the right weather for it as of late.

Inshore-  Munyan Island and the Hobe Sound Flats are starting to come to life with an assortment of species.  The sheepshead and black drum are starting to bite in better numbers, as are a few spotted seatrout and redfish.  Ladyfish and jacks are also around in good numbers.  Scattered reports of a few pompano around inshore as well.  Snook fishing has been fair, but cooler weather has slowed that down a bit.  Remember snook season is closed, so its catch and release fishing only for about another month or so.

Surf/Pier-  Strong east winds have made surf fishing tough overall.  Bluefish action remains the main game in town.  Topwater plugs, heavy spoons, and diamond jigs are solid choices for the bluefish.  Shark action remains good on the beach for those looking for something bigger to pull on.  Pompano action has been slow south of Jupiter Inlet, and only fair to the north.  Spanish Mackerel action has been good at Peck's Lake.
