Easter Weekend Fishing Outlook (4/7-4/9/23)

SHOP NOTE- CLOSED EASTER SUNDAY

OFFSHORE-  Nice mixed bag of action continued offshore this week.  Sailfish action remains good, with just about everybody putting the kites up getting at least a few chances up and down the line.  Good dolphin action (mostly slightly smaller fish) in 400-700' of water trolling bonita strips and squid.  Most of the dolphin have been found around better formed weedlines.  Blackfin tuna action has been good in 200-300' of water.  Live baits fished down 15-30' below the surface or a vertical jig remain the best way to go foe the blackfin; especially the bigger ones.  Kingfish showed up in pretty solid numbers along the 120' ledge this week, along with some early season bonita as well.  The rudderfish are still around in good numbers as well.  Bottom fishing was a bit slower this week (Largely in part to the full moon), but still some good snapper catches coming in.

INSHORE-  Snook fishing continues to improve with warming weather.  The night bite has been good with the moon and will likely continue through the weekend.  Warmer water temps have the snook ready to hammer a flair hawk or bigger swimbait, especially on outgoing tide.  During the day snook remain keyed in on mullet along seawalls and under boat docks.  A few stray sheepshead left around inshore, but they have really thinned out overall.  Warm weather has the mangrove snapper filling in a little more as well.

SURF/PIER-  Pompano fishing remains very strong.  Seems like the afternoon bite has been a little better for the pompano; with the best location bouncing around from beach to beach.  Fishbites and Sandfleas remain the top bait choices for the pompano, with clams also producing a few bites this week.  The Juno Beach Pier didn't have quite as many pomps this week, but still a pretty decent amount caught on Doc's Goofy Jigs.  The Pier did see a fair amount of bait show up this week, with a good number of Spanish Mackerel around as well.  Some big jacks and the occasional king or two cruising through the pier as well.  Blacktip shark action remains very good for those looking for something a little bigger to pull on.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRI...E winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts to around 20 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop.

SAT...E SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 1 to 2 ft. Intracoastal waters light chop. A chance of showers with a slight chance of tstms.

Mark Tamim with a bruiser of an AJ caught out of Stuart earlier this week.  My guess is he was hoping to see some different stripes when this guy smashed his seawitch/bonita strip combo.  Impressive solo camera work as well!
