After a little weather watching, Fisher (at 3 years old) says the weatherman is wrong and it'll be ok for us to go in the boat. His weather call was spot on, and we slid out of the boat ramp as the sun slipped out of sight and the dock lights began clicking on. First dock light was loaded up with snook, nosing into the current, and popping shrimp. First cast had four snook fighting over the Gambler Little EZ, and somehow none of them ending up with it. Second cast resulted in a solid hook up, and an acrobatic snooklet jumping like mad to throw the hook. Fisher had a blast pulling on the little snook before his final leap sent him in one direction and the lure headed the other. We checked a few spots and went for the mandatory "super fast" ride, per Fisher's request, before finding another dock stacked with snook. First cast had a solid one on, and after some pretty impressive rod handling, Fisher had his first snook up to the boat. After a few pics, Fish was super excited to send this little guy on his way. After a semi-clean release, Fisher informed me that the lighthouse was "lightning up, and it was time to go because a storm was coming". No possible way to argue with that logic, and it was to the trailer we went. A few drips of rain fell on us and we loaded up and headed out. I don't even think we made it out of the boat ramp parking lot before Fish was out cold...hopefully dreaming about the next snook he was going to catch!
