OFFSHORE- Wahoo fishing was absolutely on fire last weekend; and has remained good through the first part of the week. Expect a slowdown on the wahoo as the moon shrinks down; but this time of year they will remain a possibility. A bonita strip with a sea-witch pulled behind a planer is a solid way to target the wahoo. Sailfish action has been great from just north of the Juno Beach Pier up to the Loran Tower in 200-300' of water. Standard sailfish tactics will play, but don't be afraid to fish a bait or two down deep (especially in calm conditions). Dolphin fishing slowed this week, with a few scattered fish way offshore. A handful of big kingfish were caught along the 120' ledge this week. Snapper fishing has been pretty good in 70-90' of water this week. INSHORE- Inshore fishing remains a bit tough, with almost all of the better action coming at night. Mangrove snapper action did seem to tick up just a bit this week. The top of the outgoing tide (again primarily at night) has been working the best for the mangroves. Live shrimp and small pilchards seem to be the go to baits for the snapper. Catch and release snook fishing remains good. The snook are hungry right now; and will readily bite bigger lures and baits. A few very early season mullet have pushed through and the snook are definitely keyed in on them. SURF/PIER- Surf fishing remains a bit slow; although a small push of summertime pompano did get a few surf rods back down on the beach. East winds in the forecast could trigger a little bite on the pompano again this weekend. The Juno Beach Pier has been decent this week, with a little mix of species around. Catch and release snook fishing remains good on the pier, especially first thing in the morning and late in the afternoon. Live baits are the best bet for the snook, but those looking for a bigger challenge will get a few bites with a small properly presented swimbait. A fair number of cero mackerel have been around the pilchard schools, with a good number of blue runners around as well. Sanperch and a few croakers have been coming in late in the afternoon.
