OFFSHORE- Rough weather has kept offshore reports a bit slow since last weekend. Those managing to get out have found a decent number of dolphin around. 300-600' of water seems to be working best for the dolphin; though east winds in the forecast should help keep them pushed in shallower. The backside of the full moon has been producing a decent number of wahoo. 120-250' of water has been the best bet early and late in the day. When the sun is up higher look for 200-300' of water to work best for the wahoo. A few blackfin reports, including some good size ones, are mixed in with the wahoo. Bottom fishing reports have been a bit slow due to less than ideal conditions.
INSHORE- The finger mullet have found their way inshore in good numbers over the past week...Snook, tarpon, ladyfish, and jacks are all close behind! The best time to fish mullet schools tends to be very early in the morning, late in the afternoon, and at night. Fishing live mullet on the outside edge of a school or underneath is a great way to help get a bite. Throwing a live mullet blindly into the middle of a school is just playing the mullet lottery. Lure wise a loud noisy topwater, Yo-Zuri Mag Darter, or Rapala X-Rap are all good choices. Snook fishing has been pretty good at night this week around the bridges. Flair Hawks, bigger swimbaits, and larger swimming plugs (Rapala X-Rap or Bomber Windcheater) have all been working well. With dirtier water this week, both incoming and outgoing tide have been working well. SURF/PIER- The last few days have seen A LOT of pompano show up along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier. Most of the pompano have been shorts (not uncommon for the first push of fish), with a few legal fish mixed in. Sandfleas and FishBites have been working well for the pomps. From the Juno Beach Pier the pompano have also been biting Doc's Goofy Jigs decently. In addition to the pomps, the Juno Beach Pier has had a good number of Spanish Mackerel around. Early season bluefish have started to mix in as well. Snook action has slowed this week at the pier, but still some in the mix. Mullet run action slowed over the past week due to the swell and dirty water. Reports still have a decent number of mullet up to the north of us; more on the way! Tarpon have been in with the scattering of pods that have come down the beach this week. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...SE winds 15 to 20 kt, diminishing to 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Wave Detail: SE 3 ft at 5 seconds and NW 1 foot at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A chance of showers and tstms. SAT...E winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: E 3 ft at 4 seconds and NW 1 foot at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A chance of tstms.
