OFFSHORE- Wahoo bite has been picking back up, and the building moon should keep them biting over the weekend. Pulling the planer with a sea-witch and bonita strip remains a solid choice for the wahoo. 150-300' of water is the best depth for the wahoo. Generally speaking the wahoo are going to feed a little shallower (120-150') early in the morning, and then slide out to 200-300' as the sun gets up. Dolphin action has been very scattered this week, but a few fish have been caught in 400-600' of water. Blackfin tuna have been biting in 200-300' of water. Kingfish have been scattered along the 120' ledge. Bottom fishing reports picked back up this week, with some good mutton snappers being caught in 90' of water. Sardines have been the bait of choice.
INSHORE- Finger mullet have started to show up inshore. Not huge numbers yet, but after a few days of wind this week it should be very good headed into the weekend. Inshore the mullet will show up best very early in the morning. As the sun gets up and the boat traffic begins the mullet start to move deeper. The finger mullet will have the snook and tarpon stacking up for an easy meal. Snook fishing remains good around the bridges at night. Flair Hawks and bigger swimbaits have been the play for the snook. Outgoing tide seems to be working best for the snook, although the mullet will also come in on the incoming tide and it can really go off. SURF/PIER- First decent number of mullet started to show up along the beach this week, with tarpon and snook close behind. The mullet, predators as well, will be the most active first thing in the morning and then again late in the afternoon. Typically as the sun gets up the schools thin out, as do the predators. Fish early and late for the best results. A live mullet fished on the edge of the school is a good way to target the tarpon. Snook respond well to a live mullet fished under the school on a knocker rig. Yo-Zuri Mag Darter and Yo-Zuri LC Minnow are great lure choices for fishing around the mullet. The Juno Beach Pier has been active this week. Snook fishing remains good on the pier. Good number of blue runners, Spanish mackerel, and even a few pompano around the pier this week.
