OFFSHORE- The wahoo bite has been excellent this week, and conditions look good for that to continue headed into the weekend. The full moon is Friday, the seaweed has not been bad, and the wind is light...should be a lot of wahoo coming over the gunnels this weekend. While pulling the planer with a sea-witch and bonita strip has been the top producer; plenty of wahoo are being caught on swimming plugs (Nomad DTX or Rapala X-Rap), high speed lures, and live baits as well. Early and late in the day look for the wahoo to be around the 120' ledge. As the sun gets up higher they will tend to slide out a little deeper (250-350'). Dolphin fishing remained fair this week, with fish scattered from 350-1000' of water. Not a huge number of dolphin around, but a handful big enough to need a gaff for sure. A few really nice Blackfin Tuna have been around in 200-300' of water as well. No pattern to the tuna to speak of; with most of them being a bonus bycatch. The sailfish bite slowed down this week, with a few still popping up. Bottom fishing reports were slow this week. INSHORE- A bit quiet on the inshore side of things. Catch and release snook fishing remains good (Only a few days now until season opens). A bulk of the fish remain in the inlets, though a few are breaking off and pushing back into the river. Palm Beach County has not seen a lot of mullet yet, though rumors of some fair numbers showing up in Martin County are trickling in. This is generally about the last moon that the snook spawn on; so expect them to be very hungry over the next few weeks! As the mullet show up the fishing will no doubt fire off. Snook, tarpon, jacks, and others will be close behind the mullet schools. The snook fishing now has been best on outgoing tide, especially at spots closer to the inlets. SURF/PIER- Surf fishing remains a bit slow; with the Juno Beach Pier only being slightly better. Catch and release snook fishing has been fair at the pier, with the best action coming on live baits. Flatlining pilchards on the edge of the bait schools has been working well for the snook. Good numbers of blue runners around the pier, with a few scattered mackerel mixed in. Sandperch have been biting pieces of fresh shrimp in the first trough. Small hooks and light leads are the way to go for the perch and occasional croaker. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas less than 2 ft or less. Wave Detail: SE 1 foot at 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SAT...E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft in the morning, then 1 foot or less. Wave Detail: E 1 foot at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. A chance of tstms. Showers likely until late afternoon, then a chance of showers late. SUN...E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: SE 2 ft at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. Showers likely. A chance of tstms in the morning, then tstms likely in the afternoon.
