OFFSHORE- Dolphin fishing remained pretty good this week, with some solid reports coming in from 600-1000' of water. The usual trolling spread of smaller baits (Strips, Squid, ballyhoo) continues to produce the dolphin. Overall most of the fish are in the 3-10lb range, so the smaller baits are just getting more bites. Decent amount of east wind in the forecast for the weekend which could help push the dolphin in a little shallower. A handful of wahoo around this week, and the general hope is to see a little bite of them around the current new moon. A scattering of kingfish along the 120' ledge, though it continues to be a tough to catch them through the bonita. Some solid mutton reports this week, with a handful of fish close to double digits being reported.
INSHORE- Inshore fishing remains on the tougher side right now. Catch and release snook fishing has been the best bet inshore. The snook remain largely in and around the inlets; with a fair number of fish in the Loxahatchee River and in the ICW as well. The snook bite remains best at night, with Flair Hawks and bigger body swimbaits being solid lure choices. Outgoing tide seems to be producing the most bites; with incoming tide working in areas that don't have as clean of water. A few jacks and tarpon remain mixed in with the snook, though it seemed a little slower on them this week overall. Mangrove snapper reports remain fair inshore, with the best action on them coming at night. SURF/PIER- Catch and release snook fishing remains fairly good along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier this week. This week saw the bait, including a good push of smaller bait, pick up a bit and the snook fired off a little better. Early morning and late afternoon remain best times for the snook, though they will fire off ahead of approaching storms as well. When the snook are actively feeding and patrolling the bait schools try free-lining live baits in front of them for best results. When the snook are not as active, a bottom bait fished around the pilings or under the pier is the way to go. A few bonita still pushing through the pier, along with some big barracuda. Still waiting for the mangrove snapper to show up in little better numbers, but a few are around. Also hearing a few reports of permit around.
