INSHORE: The big snook and jacks continue to attack the springtime mullet moving through the ICW and Loxahatchee River. This is a great time to go snook fishing. Warming temperatures and a gradual move towards the inlets have the snook thinking about one thing...EATING! Don't be afraid to fish some big baits for the snook right now, thew will eat them! Swimbaits, flair hawk style jigs, big swimming plugs, and large live mullet are all good choices for the snook right now. At the same time, the snook will also attack live shrimp with a vengeance around dock lights and bridge shadow lines as well. No wrong way to target them, you just have to go try! Other inshore action has been spotty. A few reports from the Hobe Sound Flats have some fish moving around early and late in the day; same with the Munyon Island Flats. A little early for good numbers of mangrove snapper inshore...but a few are already being caught.
SURF/PIER: Rough conditions kept reports to a minimum this week, but with slightly calming conditions and good wind direction we should see a great pompano bite this week. Areas to the south (Lake Worth Pier in particular) are producing great pompano catches; and those fish are headed north. Look for low light periods of the day to produce the best its on the pompano. Sandfleas and clams will remain the top producing bait for the pompano. Still a few scattered bluefish hanging around, with Hobe Sound and Jupiter Island producing some good action on the blues. Lake Worth Pier has seen a lot of cobia over the past week...with any luck a few of those will slide up towards Juno Beach Pier!
