OFFSHORE- Sailfish action picked back up this week. Teams fishing the Jimmy Johnson "Quest For The Ring" have released well over a hundred sailfish midway through the first day (at time of writing on Thursday afternoon) of competition. Conditions look good for the sails the rest of today and tomorrow; hard to say what will happen headed into the weekend with a SW wind in the forecast. Dolphin remain mixed in with the sails in good numbers as well. 150-250' of water from the Juno Beach Pier to Jupiter inlet remains a good bet for both the dolphin and the sailfish. The kings have been scattered along the 120' ledge in small numbers, with a few cobra in the mix as well. Bottom fishing reports slowed a bit this week (likely all weather related).
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains good inshore; though today's cool front will likely slow them down a bit. Look for the Loxahatchee River and the ICW to be holding some snook around boat docks and seawalls with dark mud bottom. The bridges continue to hold the snook pretty good at night, especially on outgoing tide. Starting to hear of a few more tarpon reports in Palm Beach Inlet, especially around the Sailfish Club docks. Sheepshead action has slowed down some in Palm Beach Inlet, but still a decent number hanging around. SURF/PIER- Surf action seemed to pick up a bit this week. Pompano action seemed to improve, with some reports coming from both the surf and the Juno Beach Pier. Best action will be early morning and late afternoon for the pompano. A decent scattering of bluefish up and down the beach as well. The bluefish seem to be biting best late in the afternoon and have been smashing topwater poppers pretty good. A few jacks cruising through with the bluefish as well. Spanish Mackerel action has been good at Peck's Lake; though it did slow down a bit the last few days with some dirty water pushing in. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...NE winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming SE in the afternoon. Seas 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft. Wave Detail: N 5 ft at 8 seconds and N 3 ft at 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SAT THROUGH SUN...SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: S 3 ft at 4 seconds and N 3 ft at 7 seconds.
