OFFSHORE- Dolphin fishing really popped off last Saturday; with a few more biting into the early week. The dolphin were biting best in 120-300' of water. Conditions look great Friday and Saturday for the dolphin to bite good again. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid is a solid way to go for the dolphin. hey will also be happy to chase down a small to medium size live bait as well. Expect a good sailfish bite this weekend as well; with some solid numbers being reported this week. Conditions look good for a strong bite again. The kingfish continue to improve in numbers along the 120' ledge. Drifting sardines on a knocker rig is a solid way to go for the kingfish. Snapper fishing reports were decent this week. A mix of muttons and yellowtails around, along with some out of season grouper. Sardines and squid remain the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- The fishing inshore seemed to pick up just a bit this week. A little more assorted bait inshore had the snook biting a little better. Sounds like the Loxahatchee River had a few more interested snook cruising seawalls, along with a few big jacks. North in the ICW has also been producing some snook. The snook fishing at night remains tough; with local bridges going very cold. Sounds like a few tarpon have been around. The tarpon are hard to pattern; instead it's more of a right place and time situation. A few mangrove snapper reports coming in, while sheepshead reports continue to fall off. SURF/PIER- Pompano fishing has been very good this week; with the best bite going off as the sun comes up, and then again as it sets in the afternoon. The usual bait assortment of fresh shrimp, clams, sand fleas, and FishBites are getting the bites from the beach. No super hot spot along the beach; more a luck of the draw on staking them up in the lucky spot for the day. The Juno Beach Pier pompano bite slowed a bit this week, but still a few coming over the rails on Doc's Goofy Jigs. The Juno beach Pier, and to a slightly lesser extent the beach, continues to produce a handful of bluefish. Likely only another week or two and the last of the blues will be headed north. The Juno Beach Pier has also had a pretty good bite of Spanish Mackerel this week. White Crappie jigs, small Rapala X-Raps and Yo-Zuri 3DS Inshore fingerling, or small casting jigs have all been solid choices for the macs. Snook reports tapered off with the cooler weather, but a handful of bites for those soaking dead sardines under the pier. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...E winds around 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft.
