OFFSHORE- Less than ideal weather and a rough ocean has kept reports to a minimum this week. Not going to be especially calm this weekend; but conditions do look good for the sailfish to bite. Wouldn't be surprising to hear about a good number of releases and good numbers of sailfish tailing down the waves. Live goggle eyes and small blue runners under the kite will be top bait choice for the sails. Expect a few big dolphin to be mixed in with the sailfish. Blackfin Tuna action remains good in 200-300' of water. Kingfish have filled back in along the 120' ledge in pretty good numbers. Bottom fishing reports were slow again this week thanks to the weather. It is time for the rudder fish to show up, but no great reports yet. A handful of cobia reports have trickled in over the past few weeks from the bottom; about time for them to start showing up in little better numbers anytime.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains a bit tough inshore this week, and cooler temps headed into the weekend won't make for any big improvements on that front. While a few snook have been biting during the day in the Loxhatchee River on mullet(including a handful of big ones); the best bite will be at night around the bridges. Shrimp jig has still been a solid lure choice for the snook at night. Sheepshead action slowed again inshore, but still a handful of them around. Live shrimp is the top bait choice for them. Have started to hear about a few more big jacks cruising around the ICW. SURF/PIER- Tough conditions this week have kept reports to a minimum; and conditions don't look to improve much until later in the weekend. As conditions start to settle down expect a good bite on the pompano. Early morning and late afternoon have been the best bet for the pompano. FishBites, fresh shrimp, and sandfleas remain the top bait choice for the pomps. The pompano have also been biting Doc's Goofy Jigs from the Juno Beach Pier. A few schools of bluefish still around; though they are starting to thin out a bit. Jack schools are also starting to show up as well. The snook have begun to make an early season showing at the Juno Beach Pier. As the weather warms up more and more will start to show up. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...NE winds 20 to 25 kt.
