OFFSHORE- Sailfish action was very good this week for those making it out. The cold weather had the sailfish snapping; with numerous boats posting double digit days. Live goggle eyes under the kite remain the best bet for the sailfish; but don't overlook pilchards or threadfins on the flats for a lot of bites as well. A handful of good size dolphin have been mixed in with the sailfish. Good bite from south of Palm Beach Inlet up to north of the Juno Beach Pier, with the best depth holding in 150-250' for the most part. A scattering of kingfish along the 120' ledge this week. Bottom fishing has been a bit slow this week. A handful of snapper around, but nothing crazy to speak of.
INSHORE- Cold weather has the snook bite slowed way down. A few bites from the snook for those really putting the time and effort in; but overall a tough bite. Cooler weather again for the weekend will have the snook slow back down again as well. The cool weather has had a few bluefish and jacks moving around inshore; along with a few pompano as well. Sheepshead action has been good inshore; though the big numbers of sheepshead have not been holding in Palm Beach Inlet as expected. Speaking of Palm Beach Inlet; the jacks have been pushing through in good numbers. SURF/PIER- The pompano finally showed up in some decent numbers this week. The pompano were biting along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier as well. From the beach the pomps have been snapping on sand fleas, fresh shrimp, and FishBites. On the Juno Beach Pier the pompano have been biting the same baits, and also smacking bright colored Doc's Goofy Jigs. The bluefish have been around this week in solid numbers. The Juno Beach Pier has been good for the bluefish; with GT Ice Creams and JYG Pro Vyper jigs being the top lure choices. A few Spanish Mackerel around the Juno Beach Pier this week as well. Overall a good amount of life around this week. Hoping it hold up headed into the weekend. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...NW winds 20 to 25 kt, diminishing to 15 to 20 kt in the afternoon.
