OFFSHORE- Sailfish action has picked up as the week goes on, with a handful of boats releasing five or more. Best bite seems to be south of Lake Worth Inlet; but a fair pick going on north of the inlet as well. Not the most "ideal" sailfishes conditions headed into the weekend; but expect some good numbers ahead of a cold front early ext week. No dolphin reports to speak of this week; but conditions do look like they could bite this weekend. A light south wind will hopefully get some dolphin swimming up our way. Trolling bonita strips and squid in 300-500' of water will likely produce some dolphin. Look for the fish to be on any noticeable color changes, current rips, or on floating debris. Along the 120' ledge the kingfish have been around in scattered schools, including some good size fish. Juno Pier to Jupiter Inlet has had a fair pick of the kings, especially early in the morning. A decent assortment of snapper on the bottom. Sounds like the yellowtail and mangroves have been making up a bulk of the catch, with a mutton or two in the mix. Sardines will be the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Snook fishing improved a bit this week with warmer weather; and should remain good through the weekend ahead of a cold front early next week. Snook continue to bite best at night, especially around the bridges. Outgoing tide will likely be the best bet; but can vary depending on location. Sheepshead action remains fairly good inshore, with live shrimp being the top bait choice for them. The ICW north of Jupiter has been holding some small jacks and ladyfish, with the very occasional pompano mixed in. SURF/PIER- Pompano reports slowed down this week; but conditions do look good for a push of fish to come through this weekend. Along the beach sand fleas and Fishbites have been producing the best, with clams starting to get some play as well. The same baits work well on the Juno Beach Pier; with bright colored Doc's Goofy Jigs and JYG Pro Mycro Jigs working well. The pompano will likely bite best early morning and late afternoon. Bluefish action remains good along the beach and on the Juno Beach Pier as well. GT Ice Creams and JYG Pro Vyper casting jigs have both been slid choices for the bluefish. Spanish Mackerel have been in and out at the Pier; biting white crappie jigs pretty good when they show up. Croaker and whiting continue to bite very well in close. Fresh shrimp remains the bait of choice for them. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...S winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Wave Detail: SE 2 ft at 4 seconds and NE 2 ft at 12 seconds.
