OFFSHORE- Nice looking forecast headed into the weekend; with the next front rolling through early next week. Rough conditions early in the week have once again kept reports to a minimum. Dolphin should be around in 200-400' of water. The usual trolling assortment of strips, squid, and ballyhoo will all work well for the dolphin. No wahoo reports from the early part of the week; but the moon looks right for them to bite headed into the weekend. This time of year a big bonita strip with a sea-witch pulled behind a planer is the way to go for the dolphin. Bottom fishing reports have been a bit slow, with a few snapper coming in. Not going to get a whole lot of weekends like this, this time of year; worth taking a shot if you can!
INSHORE- The snook bite remains good inshore, especially at night. Still a good number of mullet inshore so the snook will still bite the bigger swimbaits and jigs; but the shrimp jig bite is coming on strong. As the water continues to cool off the snook key in big time on the shrimp; making a Thumper Shrimp or a JYG Pro Shrymp on a ball jighead a really good lure choice. The top of the outgoing tide has been working best for the snook, but with cloudy water again don't overlook the start of the incoming as a player as well. The jacks have been cruising the river picking off late season mullet along seawalls. Still a bit early, but the first sheepshead of the season are starting to show up inshore. SURF/PIER- Pompano fishing was pretty good again this week, with some pomps coming both from the beach and from the Juno Beach Pier. Sandfleas, clams, and FishBites did most of the work from the beach. The same baits were working from the pier, with a handful of pompano also coming over the rails on Doc's Goofy Jigs. Bright colored jigs (orange, pink, char) seemed to be the ticket on the pompano. A handful of scattered bluefish around. Cut sardines and mullet is the way to go for the bluefish, with late afternoon and night being the best time for them. Good bite on the croaker and whiting this week, with small pieces of shrimp being the way to go for them. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...E winds 10 to 15 kt, diminishing to 5 to 10 kt in the afternoon.
