OFFSHORE- Sailfish action early in the week was absolutely on fire, with numerous boats getting ten plus chances. The bite was good up and down the line; with some of the best action coming from the Lake Worth Pier up to Palm Beach Inlet. Depth bounced around a bit; but 150-225' remains a fairly consistent depth. Per usual; a frisky live goggle eye under the kite is the best way to go for the sailfish. A handful of good size dolphin mixed in with the sailfish; and they are just as happy to chase down the same goggle eye under the kite. Mid week has seen a good little bite on the wahoo, with a handful of 15-25lb fish hitting the dock. A switch and bonita strip combo behind the planer is the way to go for the wahoo. The wahoo seem to be hanging in best numbers right along the 120' ledge. Bottom fishing also heated up a bit later into the week. A good mixture of snapper around, along with a few cobia. Best action on the bottom seems to be coming in the 90ish foot range. Sardines and squid are the bait of choice on the bottom.
INSHORE- Snook fishing improved a bit this week with slightly warmer weather. The snook have been hitting the shrimp jig at night around the bridges, especially on the outgoing tide. Daytime snook action remains a bit tough, but should start to improve as the temps continue to rise. Sheepshead action remains fairly good inshore right now. Small to medium size live shrimp are the top bait choice for the sheepshead. The jacks have thinned out of Palm Beach Inlet, but still a few stragglers around. SURF/PIER- Some of the best pompano action of the year went down this week along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier as well. Best bite for the pompano seems to be later in the afternoon. Along the beach sandfleas and FishBItes are the top bait choice. At the Juno Beach Pier the same baits work on the bottom, while a bright colored Doc's Goofy Jig will also catch the pompano well. Bluefish have still been around in fair numbers, along with a few scattered Spanish Mackerel. Calm conditions towards the end of the week had the croaker and whiting biting well in close. Small live shrimp or pieces of fresh shrimp are the top bait choice. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...N winds 5 to 10 kt, increasing to 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft.
