Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. Somehow the fishing report slipped my mind (I never even thought about it once yesterday!!!) with everything going on.
OFFSHORE- Still a scattering of dolphin offshore, with most of them coming in 200-400' of water. It remains smaller packs of fish for the most part. with a bigger fish or two in the mix. If your targeting dolphin specifically try trolling smaller baits (bonita strips and squid or a small trolling lure like a Ballyhood All-Star). Sailfish action continues to improve in 120-200' of water. Live baits under the kite will be the best bet for the sailfish, but don't be too surprised when a nice dolphin comes up and takes a shot at that expensive goggle eye intended for a sailfish. Blackfin tuna remain mixed in with the sailfish and dolphin in good numbers. Wahoo action slowed down a lot this week, but still a decent number caught. Snapper fishing was fair this week, with the usual assortment of yellowtails, mutton, and occasional mangrove in 60-120' of water. Current wa s a touch slower as well so some vermilion came up in 180-300' of water as well. INSHORE- Snook fishing remains good inshore. Still a fair number of mullet hanging around keeping the snook fired up on bigger baits. The Loxahatchee River continues to produce a few good ones during the day, while the bridges are the way to go at night. The bridge bite remains a mixture of big and small baits; with flair hawks and swimbaits producing, as well as smaller shrimp jigs. The jacks have been in Palm Beach Inlet in good numbers this week. A lot of small to medium jacks, with a few bruisers in the mix as well. The sheepshead and black drum are starting to bite better up north (Stuart/Jensen), with a few showing up locally as well. SURF/PIER- Despite nice conditions most of the week; fishing was a little slower along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier this week. Pompano bit good early n the week for a day or two, and then slowed down drastically. Still; most people putting in the time on the beach have been catching a pompano or two (Reel them in quick...the sharks are showing back up in bigger numbers!). Spanish Mackerel have been around in decent numbers. Small flashy metal jigs, Clark Spoons, and Flash Minnows have been good lure choices for the Mackerel. A good numbers of jacks (Mostly 2-5 pounders) along the beach; with a few scattered bluefish as well. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: TODAY...W winds around 5 kt. Seas less than 2 ft or less, then around 2 ft in the afternoon. Wave Detail: NW 1 foot at 2 seconds, becoming NW 1 foot at 3 seconds. Intracoastal waters smooth. SAT...NE winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft. Wave Detail: N 6 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. A chance of showers. SUN THROUGH MON...N winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Wave Detail: N 5 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Shop Note- Black Friday Open 6am-6pm...good sale on tap! Thanks For Reading, Todd Capt Jeff of Ten X charters and his brother Luke with a little Pre-Thanksgiving Tuna Run! OFFSHORE- Fishing was very good offshore this week, with a variety of reports coming in. Dolphin reports have been good in 200-500' of water. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid remains a great way to go for the dolphin. The dolphin for the most part have been in small packs and out roaming. Finding current rips, floating debris, or large areas of flying fish will increase your odds on the dolphin. Sailfish action improved this week in 120-250' of water. Live goggle eyes or blue runners (which both are in very short supply right now) under the kite will be the best bet for the sailfish. Good numbers of sails released this week, with a couple of boats seeing double digits. Wahoo fishing was absolutely insane early in the week. Just about everyone pulling a planer and bonita strip or Nomad DTX minnow had a wahoo bite, with a lot of boats getting multiple shots. Early morning, late afternoon, and tide changes will be the best bet for the wahoo. Bottom fishing has been good this week. A nice amount of yellowtail snapper being caught, with a few muttons in the mix as well. A mixture of porgies, grunts, and other assorted species in the mix as well on the bottom.
INSHORE- Snook fishing was very good inshore this week ahead of the front. Still a decent number of medium size mullet around, and the snook have been all over them. Docks and seawalls with some current on them will be the best spot to look for snook during the day. At night the snook have been around the bridges in good numbers. The top of the outgoing tide seems to be working best for the snook. Medium sized swimbaits and shrimp jigs have been working well for the snook around the bridge. Sheepshead and black drum are biting a little better this week with cooler water. Live shrimp is a solid bait choice for both of them. A few tarpon moving around in Palm Beach Inlet, along with a few big jacks. Cooler water should start to improve the fishing around Munyan Island and Hobe Sound/Jupiter Island flats. SURF/PIER- Fishing improved along the beach and at the Juno Beach Pier early in the week; before tapering off a bit at time of writing. Pompano reports picked cup a bit, with a few more showing up along the beach. It hasn't been limits, but catching 2 or 3 pomps was not out of the question this week. Early morning has been the best bet for the pompano. Spanish Mackerel action was good at the Juno Beach Pier early in the week. Crappie jigs, small Rapala X-Raps, and small metal flash jigs have all been solid lure choices for the Macs. A few bluefish around this week, but no big numbers. The jacks, mostly smaller, have been around in big numbers. A decent number of croakers and whiting around. Small pieces of fresh shrimp is the best bait for them. The blacktip sharks have been around in decent numbers. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft, occasionally to 9 ft. Wave Detail: N 7 ft at 7 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SAT...NW winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft. Wave Detail: N 5 ft at 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters light chop. SUN...NE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Intracoastal waters light chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd Sick catch from Kieran (IG @ kidder1003) fishing with Captain Eric of Countyline Charters (www.countylinecharters.com) in the Loxahatchee River this week. OFFSHORE- Some good fishing reports offshore this week (amazing what a little weather window will do!). Dolphin fishing was good in 200-500' of water. Most of the dolphin were 5-10lbs, with a handful of bigger fish in the mix. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid remains the best bet for the dolphin. Sailfish action has been good in 150-250' of water. Live baits under the kite are by far the best bet for the sailfish. A live bait under the kite will also work on a passing dolphin. Wahoo fishing has been very good this week on the moon. A seawitch and bonita strip behind the planer is a solid choice for the wahoo. A Nomad DTX minnow is also a solid choice for the wahoo. Bottom fishing bite was good as well. A mixture of yellowtail, mutton, and mangrove snapper around.
INSHORE- A little bit slower inshore this week. Snook fishing remains fair, but it is slowing down a bit. The full moon definitely has the snook feeding better at night. Bridges with a defined shadow line and docklights will be the best bet for the snook. With the water still being a bit off colored both incoming/outgoing tides will produce; the water just needs to be moving. Still been a decent bite on the jig and bigger swimbaits; but the shrimp jig is really starting to produce as well. Starting to see a few more sheepshead show up inshore, along with a small scattering of black drum. The drum and sheepshead reports have been a little better to the north of us (Stuart/Jensen). A handful of scattered jacks (including some big ones) cruising ICW seawalls this week. Best action on the jacks will be early morning and late afternoon. A loud noisy topwater or NLBN Lil' Mullet is hard to beat for the jacks. SURF/PIER- Weather and sea conditions improved a bit this week, and so did the fishing. Pompano action picked up along Juno/Jupiter Beach. It wasn't huge numbers, but those spending some time on the beach got a handful of bites from the pompano. Sandfleas and Fishbites have been the bait of choice for the pomps. The Juno Beach Pier has had a good Spanish Mackerel bite, along with a good number of smaller jacks. Small swimming plugs and diamond jigs have been a solid lure choice for the mackerel and jacks. Croaker/whiting bite has been good on small pieces of fresh shrimp. Conditions look good for the bluefish to bite this weekend. A loud noisy popper, GT Ice Cream, or Silver spoon is a solid lure choice for the bluefish. Lots of blacktop sharks along the beach. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRIDAY...W winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming N 15 to 20 kt in the afternoon. Seas 3 to 5 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Wave Detail: NW 4 ft at 6 seconds and NE 3 ft at 11 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of showers in the afternoon. . SAT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft, occasionally to 9 ft. Wave Detail: NE 6 ft at 11 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SUN...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft. Wave Detail: NE 6 ft at 12 seconds and E 2 ft at 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd OFFSHORE- Once again weather this week has pretty much kept everyone at the dock; leaving very little for me to write about again. The weather does look a little nicer headed into the weekend. It's not going to be calm by any means, but at least we are getting to at least throw the "fishable" term around a bit. Pressure has been non existent offshore, so the fish should be chewing. It's the right time of year to see our fall push of dolphin come through. East winds should help push the dolphin in a bit shallower. Look for the dolphin to likely be in 150-300' of water. Trolling bonita strips, squid, and small ballyhoo will be a great way to go for the dolphin. Sailfish should also begin to start showing up in little better numbers. About time to get the kite fishing gear out and dialed in, the sails will be tailing down sea very soon. Snapper fishing will likely be very good on the reef. Pressure has been super light, so the first sardines they start seeing are going to be gobbled up quick! As the weather gets a little nicer, and the reports start coming in I'll try to update the report.
INSHORE- Snook fishing remains good inshore. Still some mullet around; but the snook are starting to make that fall switch over to shrimp and smaller baits. During the day live millet fished along seawalls remains a great way to go. At night the bridge bite has been good on the shrimp jig and smaller swimbaits. The snook are still biting the jig; but the smaller stuff is really beginning to play a bit better. As the water begins to cool a bit (it's been a slow process) the inshore action will start to improve. It is getting to be time for the sheepshead and black drum to show up inshore. Could still be a few redfish around, though it sounds like those reports have fallen way off. SURF/PIER- Rough weather and dirty water has kept reports to a minimum. On days the water has some decent color (in other words not straight mud) the croaker and whiting have been biting pieces of fresh shrimp. A few pompano around; though not in huge numbers. As it calms down a bit and the water gets back to normal the pomps should start to show up in better numbers. The Juno Beach Pier has had a pretty good amount of small jacks around, with some small blues mixed in as well. Hopefully the weather breaks a bit and the water improves. When it does we should see some lights out fishing! We will update report if things turn on into the weekend. NOAA MARINE WEATHER: FRI...E winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Wave Detail: E 3 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. SAT...E winds 10 to 15 kt, increasing to 15 to 20 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Wave Detail: E 4 ft at 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. SUN...E winds 20 to 25 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft. Wave Detail: E 6 ft at 6 seconds and NW 1 foot at 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters rough in exposed areas. MON...SE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Thanks For Reading, Todd The Yo-Zuri 3DS Minnow is a killer all around lure. Snook, Bass, Peacock Bass, and a host of others will smash it...but Fisher catching this snakehead on it was a first for me! |
